  • This study was conducted to identify the causal pathways of variables affecting life satisfaction in adolescents with disabilities to establish a basis for concrete intervention in their daily lives. This study was conducted on 239 adolescents with disabilities aged 9 to 24 years who responded to the survey on the actual conditions of people with disability in 2017. The SPSS macro process was used for analysis of the dual mediation effect. The results showed that there was a statistically significant correlation between instrumental daily life performance capacity, life satisfaction, Self-Rated Health, and participation in culture and leisure activities. It confirmed the mediating effects of Self-Rated Health and cultural leisure activities when the instrumental daily life performance capacity affected life satisfaction. This confirmed the dual mediating effect of instrumental daily life performance capacity on life satisfaction through causal pathways of Self-Rated Health and participation in cultural leisure activities. Based on the results of this study, it was possible to identify the focus of practical intervention through the identification of sequential pathways of Self-Rated Health and cultural and leisure activities on influence of instrumental daily life performance capacity and life satisfaction in adolescents with disabilities.

We used data from 1,325 1st grade middle school students from multicultural families, who participated in the Multicultural Adolescent Panel Survey(MAPS) administered by the National Youth Policy Institute(NYPI). Structural equation modeling analysis revealed the following: parental support and monitoring directly and positively related with multicultural adolescents' school adjustment, and the direct effect of parental support on the school adjustment of multicultural adolescents was greater than that of parental monitoring. In addition, the adolescents' ego-resilience partially mediated the relationships between parental support and monitoring, and their school adjustment. Finally, we recommended the roles of parent education and home economics education in supporting school adjustment and elevating ego-resilience in multicultural adolescents.

  • This study identified the relationship between perceived mother-grandmother conflicts and subjective well-being among multicultural children, and examined the double mediating model of acculturative stress and adjustment to school life on that relationship. Participants were 205 male and female adolescents living at J county in Gangwon-do. PROCESS Macro 3.5 Model 6 was used for analysis of a double mediating effect. Results revealed that perceived mother-grandmother conflicts was positively correlated with acculturative stress of multicultural children, and negatively correlated with adjustment to school life and subjective well-being. And, acculturative stress of multicultural children was negatively correlated with adjustment to school life and subjective well-being, whereas adjustment to school life was positively correlated with subjective well-being. This study found that acculturative stress and adjustment to school life were sequentially mediating perceived mother-grandmother conflicts and subjective well-being of multicultural children. These findings suggest that the perceived mother-grandmother conflicts might cause multicultural children to experience acculturative stress, and as a result, their subjective well-being level might be reduced due to their low adjustment to school life.
