  • Recently, there have been various researches on efficient and automatic analysis on urban environment methods that utilize the computer vision and machine learning technology. Among many new analyses, urban safety analysis has received a major attention. In order to predict more accurately on safety score and reflect the human visual perception, it is necessary to consider the generic and local information that are most important to human perception. In this paper, we use Double-column Convolutional Neural network consisting of generic and local columns for the prediction of urban safety. The input of generic and local column used re-sized and random cropped images from original images, respectively. In addition, a new learning method is proposed to solve the problem of over-fitting in a particular column in the learning process. For the performance comparison of our Double-column Convolutional Neural Network, we compare two Support Vector Regression and three Convolutional Neural Network models using Root Mean Square Error and correlation analysis. Our experimental results demonstrate that our Double-column Convolutional Neural Network model show the best performance with Root Mean Square Error of 0.7432 and Pearson/Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.853/0.840.

  • This paper presents a new sequential indexing method called segment-page indexing (SP-indexing) for multidimensional range queries. The design objectives of SP-indexing are twofold:(1) improving the range query performance of multidimensional indexing methods (MIMs) and (2) providing a compromise between optimal index clustering and the full index reorganization overhead. Although more than ten years of database research has resulted in a great variety of MIMs, most efforts have focused on data-level clustering and there has been less attempt to cluster indexes. As a result, most relevant index nodes are widely scattered on a disk and many random disk accesses are required during the search. SP-indexing avoids such scattering by storing the relevant nodes contiguously in a segment that contains a sequence of contiguous disk pages and improves performance by offering sequential access within a segment. Experimental results demonstrate that SP-indexing improves query performance up to several times compared with traditional MIMs using small disk pages with respect to total elapsed time and it reduces waste of disk bandwidth due to the use of simple large pages.

  • The 3-Acetylpyridine(3-AP) induces cerebellar injury which is chemoablation of the inferior olive nucleus. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of exercise(Ex) and electroacupuncture(EA) on muscle activity of hindlimb and serum brain derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) in the ataxia rats by the 3-AP. 12-week-aged male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into the 5 groups: Control, 3-AP, 3-AP+Ex, 3-AP+EA and 3-AP+Ex+EA groups. Maximal Height Vertical Jump(MHVJ) was significantly decreased in the 3-AP compared with control group, and it was increased in Ex, EA and Ex+EA groups than 3-AP group. The muscle activity of hindlimb was significantly increased in the 3-AP groups than control group, also it was most decreased in Ex+EA group. The concentration of BDNF of the serum was significantly decreased in the Ex, EA and Ex+EA groups than 3-AP group. The results of this study showed that dynamic exercise and electroacupuncture have a positive effect on functional recovery and in the ataxia rats by the 3-AP.

  • Recently a protocol was developed that precisely synchronizes the time of ovulation in Hanwoo. Cows were treated with GnRH on Day 0, PGF$_2$$\alpha$ 7 d later, GnRH 2 d later, and then time-inseminated approximately 24 h after this second treatment with GnRH. Ovarian morphology was monitored cows by trans-rectal ultrasonography 6.5MHz linear transrectal probe(Sonovet - 600., Medison co. Korea) from 24 hr to 31 hrs after second GnRH injection. The result obtained summarized as follows - 1. Induced ovulation were 24 to 31hr after the second GnRH injection, but high induced ovulation was 28hr. 2. Conception rate with HML(High meat lin) and HIL(High milk lin) treatment were 48.1%(38/79) and 43.9%(40/91), respectively. 3. Conception rate of 1∼2 parity and 3∼4 parity was 44.3% and 55%, respectively. 4. Conception rate of spring, autumn was more increased, 47.3% than summer.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigated the effect of taping intervention applied to the diaphragm on the anaerobic performance in 30 seconds. 18 healthy college students were randomly divided into experimental group(KT=9) and control group(Sham=9). In both groups, pre and post measurement was performed by wingate test, and post measurement was performed with taping application after a week rest. The statistics between two groups on the rate of change pre and post were analyzed through Mann-Whitney U test. Statistically, it showed that only the average power(AP) of control group was significantly different. This means that diaphragmatic taping did not affect the performance of anaerobic exercise for 30 seconds. However, considering the increase in aerobic metabolism during long-term anaerobic exercise longer than 30 seconds, further studies on anaerobic exercise performance within various time ranges are needed.

  • For decades, creating a desired locomotive motion in a goal-oriented manner has been a challenge in character animation. Data-driven methods using generative models have demonstrated efficient ways of predicting long sequences of motions without the need for explicit conditioning. While these methods produce high-quality long-term motions, they can be limited when it comes to synthesizing motion for challenging novel scenarios, such as punching a random target. A state-of-the-art solution to overcome this limitation is by using a GAN Discriminator to imitate motion data clips and incorporating reinforcement learning to compose goal-oriented motions. In this paper, our research aims to create characters performing combat sports such as boxing, using a novel reward design in conjunction with existing GAN-based approaches. We experimentally demonstrate that both the Adversarial Motion Prior [3] and Adversarial Skill Embeddings [4] methods are capable of generating viable motions for a character punching a random target, even in the absence of mocap data that specifically captures the transition between punching and locomotion. Also, with a single learned policy, multiple task controllers can be constructed through the TimeChamber framework.

  • Middle-aged women experience a lot of physical and mental stress during their developmental cycle. This stress reduces the quality of life because it leads to chronic pain and disease. Forest therapy is attracting attention as an alternative to this. Forest therapy refers to improving human health through the therapeutic elements of forests. Accordingly, this study was conducted to determine whether a sensory insight-based forest therapy program was effective in reducing stress in middle-aged women. For this purpose, middle-aged women who wanted to participate in the forest therapy program were recruited, 20 each were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group, and pre- and post-tests were conducted. The forest therapy program consisted of 8 sessions of 6 hours based on sense and insight. The forest therapy program was held at Saryeoni Forest in Jeju, and the measurement tools were compared by measuring perceived stress, leisure satisfaction, and stress index through pulse wave testing. The results of the study showed that the forest therapy program lowered stress and improved leisure satisfaction.

  • This study was to identify treatment effects of the shoulder control and strengthening exercise, on the subjects with secondary shoulder impingement syndrome at postmastectomy. The subjects were patients who visited our hospital due to secondary shoulder impingement syndrome(1-2 stage) at postmastectomy and they randomly allocated to two groups: a shoulder control and strengthening group (n=10) and a conservative therapy group (n=10). Both groups received conservative therapy for 5 sessions (40 minutes per week) for 4week. The shoulder control and strengthening exercises group practiced additional motor control and strengthening exercises for 60 minutes. Values of handgrip strength, pain(visual analog scale), upper extremity circumference, Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand questionnaire, range of motion were compared with those of the conservative therapy group. There were significant differences in the amount of change of the range of motion and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand scale between the two groups (p<.05), however as a measure of handgrip strength, pain(visual analog scale), upper extremity circumference did not show a significant differences. These results suggest that a motor control and strengthening exercise program is feasible, secure and suitable for secondary shoulder impingement syndrome at postmastectomy.
