Characterization of Cone-beam Computed Tomography System for Small Animal (콘빔형 소동물용 전산화단층촬영(CT) 장치의 성능평가)

  • A cone-beam computed tomography (CT) system for a small animal has been widely used in the bio-medical application. This paper introduced simple methods for evaluating a cone-beam CT system using a simple tungsten wire phantom of 10{$\mu}m$ diameter and a water phantom. Slice images and three-dimensional tomography images were obtained through 360 projection views per one sample rotation under stable X-ray tube conditions for a long running time. The cone-beam CT system at a position of a 1.07 magnification showed a spatial frequency of 13.78 lp/mm ($36.2{\mu}m$ spatial resolution) and gave a CNR of 10.33 and a S/N of 5.87 under a tube voltage of 80kV.

Quality Characteristics of Restructured Pork Jerky according to Addition of Sliced Cheese (슬라이스 치즈 첨가에 의한 재구성 돈육포의 품질 특성)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the phsicochemical, rheological and sensory characteristics of the restructured pork jerky with the addition of sliced cheese(4, 8 and 12%). The TC-1, TC-2 and TC-3 samples had lower moisture contents than the control, Crude protein and fat contents were significantly difference among all treatment (p<0.05). The crude ash and salinity values of TC-1, TC-2 and TC-3 were higher than the control. With the addition of sliced cheese(l2%), the manufacturing yield and water absorption ability were high among all the different treatments, but the control showed significantly higher values than TC-1, TC-2 and TC-3. The pH ranged from 5.62-6.01 in all treatments and the TC-3 sample had the highest pH, The water activity range was 0.70 - 0.74, and the various treatments had slightly higher than the control. The hardness of the TC-3( J 2%) treatment was the lowest among all the treatment. The strength values increased according to increases in sliced cheese, but there were no significant differences(p>0.05). The sensory evaluation for color and flavor received the highest scores in working males 6.96(TC-2) and student males 7.50(TC-2), respectively. The texture scores ranged from 7.07-7.63 and were the highest of all sensory evaluation factors, For overall acceptance the highest scores were received from student males(TC-3), student females(TC-2), working males(TC-2) and working females(TC-l), respectively.

Cooking Techniques to Improve the Taste of Cooked Rice;Optimal Cooking Conditions for Top Rice Cultivars (우리 쌀의 밥맛 향상을 위한 취반기술 개발 연구;제2보 탑라이스 쌀 품종의 취반특성 연구)

  • This study was carried out to determine the optimal cooking conditions for various rice cultivars (Ilpoom, Saechucheong, Sindongjin, and Sura-top rice) using trial preparations with different soaking times (0, 30, and l20min) and cooking equipment (electric pressure cookers, electric cookers, gas pressure cookers, iron pots, and stone pots). In adddition, the texture and sensory characteristics of the rice prepared with the electric pressure cookers, gas pressure cookers, and stone pots were analyed. The results showed that the moisture, amylose and physicochemical compositions of the four rice varieties were similar. According to RVA, the Sura, cultivar had generally high viscosity, and the Ilpoom, cultivar presented the highest hot and peak viscosities. Saechucung had the highest initial gelatinizing temperature and Sindongjin showed the greatest setback. The optimal amounts of added water as well as heating conditons were dependent on the rice varieties, soaking times, and cooking equipment. A longer soaking time reduced the hardness of the cooked rice, amount of added water, and the heating time. The pressure cooking equipment provided the best cooked rice texture, reduced the affect of the soaking time, and decreased the heating time. In general, all the variaties of cooked rice had high overall acceptability, which tended to increase when the rice was soaked for 30min prior to cooking, had a 1.2-fold amount of water to rice added, and was cooked in the pressure equipment.

  • In this paper, we present a improved algorithm for thinning vein pattern. The vein image scanned using near infra-red is sliced in the horizontality or verticality direction, and then average value is gained from each slice image. Using curvature value changed from average value, search candidate part and extract vein pattern through re-searched candidate part in overlapping area. For the extracted vein pattern connecting, we proposed a DAL method that verify distance, angle and luminosity on pattern before tracking pattern extracted. The proposed improved thinning method is helpful for accurate connecting of vein pattern more than method used distance material in candidate part.

Effect of Browning Inhibitor Treatment on Sliced Citron Storage (Citrus junos Sieb.) (갈변방지제 처리가 슬라이스 유자의 저장성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate at how the quality of citron changed during storage as a result of the browning inhibitor treatment. In the browning inhibitor treatment, Vit.C, Vit.C+NaCl, Vit.C+NaCl+CD substances were used. As a result of investigating the browning degree, Vit.C+NaCl+CD showed the lowest value of 0.76 when stored for 12 weeks. The 𝚫E of the chromaticity value indicated that significant color change occurred when the value was high. As the Vit.C+NaCl+CD mixture showed the lowest value of 46.01 at 25℃, it was found that browning did not occur much compared to other treatments. The change in polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity of citron increased as browning progressed. Among the browning inhibitor solutions, Vit.C+NaCl+CD solution showed the lowest value 118.8 u/g at 25℃ after 12 weeks. Based on these findings, it seems that CD mixing solution can be used as a citron browning inhibitor.

Derivation of the Effective Energy Calculation Formula of the X-ray Beam Generated by the CT Simulator (CT 모의치료장치에서 발생된 X-선 빔의 유효에너지 계산식 유도)

  • The purpose of this study is to derive a formula for calculating the effective energy of an X-ray beam generated by a CT simulator. Under 90, 120, and 140 kVp X-ray beams, the CT number calibration insert part of the AAPM CT performance phantom was scanned 5 times with a CT simulator. The CT numbers of polyethylene, polystyrene, water, nylon, polycarbonate, and acrylic were measured for each CT slice image. The average value of CT number measured under a single tube voltage and the linear attenuation coefficients corresponding to each photon energy calculated from the data of the National Institute of Standards and Technology were linearly fitted. Among the obtained correlation coefficients, the photon energy having the maximum value was determined as the effective energy. In this way, the effective energy of the X-ray beam generated at each tube voltage was determined. By linearly fitting the determined effective energies(y) and tube voltages(x), y=0.33026x+30.80263 as an effective energy calculation formula was induced.

An Optimized Hardware Implementation of SHA-3 Hash Functions (SHA-3 해시 함수의 최적화된 하드웨어 구현)

  • This paper describes a hardware design of the Secure Hash Algorithm-3 (SHA-3) hash functions that are the latest version of the SHA family of standards released by NIST, and an implementation of ARM Cortex-M0 interface for security SoC applications. To achieve an optimized design, the tradeoff between hardware complexity and performance was analyzed for five hardware architectures, and the datapath of round block was determined to be 1600-bit on the basis of the analysis results. In addition, the padder with a 64-bit interface to round block was implemented in hardware. A SoC prototype that integrates the SHA-3 hash processor, Cortex-M0 and AHB interface was implemented in Cyclone-V FPGA device, and the hardware/software co-verification was carried out. The SHA-3 hash processor uses 1,672 slices of Virtex-5 FPGA and has an estimated maximum clock frequency of 289 Mhz, achieving a throughput of 5.04 Gbps.

A Study on the Shielding of Orbit by 3D Printed Filament in Brain CT (Brain CT검사 시 3D프린터 필라멘트에 따른 수정체 차폐 연구)

  • The CT can accurately present the anatomical structure of an organ in the human body, and the resolution of the image is excellent. On Brain CT examination, the radiation sensitivity of the orbit is high and it is subject to many exposure effects. To reduce exposure dose of lens, this study compares change of exposure dose and shielding rate about non-shielding and shielding in a way of using two shielding materials, bismuth and tungsten. In this study, we used bismuth and tungsten filament as shielding materials made by 3D printing to measure the exposure dose according to the materials thickness and each of slices. To compare each shielding rate, 1 mm to 5 mm of two materials was measured with the head phantom fixed and the Magicmax universal dosimeter placed on the eye when the shielding material is not placed, and the shielding material is placed on it. In the 1 mm thick filament, the bismuth filament showed 26.8% and the tungsten filament showed 43.1% shielding rate. Therefore, tungsten presents much greater shielding effect than bismuth.

A Self-Timed Ring based Lightweight TRNG with Feedback Structure (피드백 구조를 갖는 Self-Timed Ring 기반의 경량 TRNG)

  • A lightweight hardware design of self-timed ring based true random number generator (TRNG) suitable for information security applications is described. To reduce hardware complexity of TRNG, an entropy extractor with feedback structure was proposed, which minimizes the number of ring stages. The number of ring stages of the FSTR-TRNG was determined to be a multiple of eleven, taking into account operating clock frequency and entropy extraction circuit, and the ratio of tokens to bubbles was determined to operate in evenly-spaced mode. The hardware operation of FSTR-TRNG was verified by FPGA implementation. A set of statistical randomness tests defined by NIST 800-22 were performed by extracting 20 million bits of binary sequences generated by FSTR-TRNG, and all of the fifteen test items were found to meet the criteria. The FSTR-TRNG occupied 46 slices of Spartan-6 FPGA device, and it was implemented with about 2,500 gate equivalents (GEs) when synthesized in 180 nm CMOS standard cell library.

The Examination of the Limitations of Using the OSL Dates Derived from this Study in the Correlation of MIS 5 Marine Terraces Distributed in the Southeastern Coast of the Korean Peninsula (한반도 남동부 해안 해성단구의 분류와 편년에 있어서 본 연구에서 도출된 OSL 연대 적용의 한계성 검토)

  • The lower marine terrace 1 and 2 surfaces distributed between Ulsan and Pohang coast in the southeastern coast of the Korean penninsula have been correlated with MIS 5e and 5a (or 5c) by amino acid dates, 14C dates, wide-spread tephra correlation and pollen analysis respectively. In this study, to test the reliability of the OSL method for the estimation of the numerical burial age of marine sediment deposits, we analyzed the samples from the marine terraces which have been known as typical marine terraces formed during MIS 5e and MIS 5a in the above-mentioned coast. The burial ages of the marine deposit of the lower marine terrace 1 and 2, with paleoshoreline altitudes of 18m to 19m and 10m to 11m respectively, both showed about the same age of 60 ka BP. The lower marine terraces 1 and 2, however, were divided into two terrace surfaces by a clear terrace cliff. Besides, the OSL dates of the lower and upper parts of the lower marine terrace 2 of the Bonggil coast showed the reversed burial ages. In the lower marine terrace 1 of the Sanhari coast, almost the same burial ages were derived from both the lower part (marine rounded gravel layer) and the upper part (terrestrial angular gravel layer) of the terrace deposit. Therefore, at the present time, judging from only the OSL dates measured in this study, it could be argued that the OSL method is not the best for the estimation of forming periods of the lower marine terraces 1 and 2 and their classification.
