Digital Face Design with Reference to Contemporary Fashion (현대패션의 관점에서 본 디지털 페이스디자인)

  • This study based on the digital innovation of the fashion industry has researched digital-based face design that already has many users all over the world through social media and has influenced the fashion industry. The purpose of this study is to present the future vision of the direction of the fashion industry by classifying representative cases of augmented reality-based digital face design and deriving the oriented value that penetrates them. It was needed to analyzing 3D designer's works that provide digital filter-based face design to the public through Instagram and Facebook. As a result of observing the oriented value of digital face design from the point of view of modern fashion through case exploration, three trends were drawn: experimental formativeness orientation, playful experience orientation, and future technology orientation. This study limited the scope to digital-based face design, but the conclusions presented through these are applicable to all areas of fashion. Therefore, it is supposed to expect to study new phenomena related to fashion design and fashion communication based on digital augmented reality beyond the scope of face design in the future.

  • 소비자의 기호가 다양화되면서 다품종 소량생산에 따른 대량 맞춤화에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있으며, 1990년대 후반부터 급격히 확산되고 있는 인터넷의 발달 및 디지털 기기의 확산에 따라 인터넷을 기반으로 한 전자상거래 환경에서의 대량 맞춤화 프로세스는 최근 의류 분야에서 주요한 경향으로 받아들여지고 있다. 대량 맞춤화 의류 제품의 수요는 인터넷 등 IT 기술의 발달과 맞물려 최근 개인의 특성과 취향을 고려한 인터넷 맞춤서비스를 기반으로 증가추세에 있으며, CAD 등의 테크놀러지의 활용을 통하여 디자인, 패턴제작, 재단 등의 자동 시스템을 도입함으로써 그 영역을 확장하고 있다. 이에 발맞추어 국내에서는 '디지털 패션 시스템'을 통해 3차원 바디 스캔, 3차원 컴퓨터 그래픽스, 3차원 Simulation, DID, DTP, 맞춤주문형 제품의 대량 생산기술 등의 단위 기술이 기업단위로 활용되는 등 가상현실을 이용한 3차원 가상쇼핑 등을 포함하는 기술로서 차세대 섬유패션 산업의 창출에 기여하고 있다. 그 중, 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅은 디자인에서부터 날염까지 전체 공정을 컴퓨터로 처리하여 기존의 복잡한 날염 공정을 단축하여 다품종 소량생산이 가능한 날염 방식으로, 대량 맞춤형 프로세스를 지원하며, 프로슈머(prosumer)로서의 소비자가 직접 참여하여 그들의 욕구를 최대화 할 수 있는 소비자 만족을 극대화 시킬 수 있는 대량 맞춤화 프로세스 중 하나의 단계로 소비자의 수요 반영하는 요소로 작용하고 있다. 즉, 디지털 패션 시스템에서의 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅은 대량 맞춤형 의류 제품에 있어 소비자 만족도와 직결되는 요인으로 분석된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 디지털 패션 시스템 기반의 대량맞춤형 섬유제품 및 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅 적용 섬유제품에 대한 기초 평가 문항을 제시하고, 소비자 태도를 분석하여 제시하였다. 또한, 분석된 기초 소비자 태도를 반영하여, 디지털 패션 시스템 기반의 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅(Digital Textile Printing) 의류 제품의 선호도, 인지도, 수요도 및 구입의향을 분석하여 최종적으로 디지털 패션 시스템에 적용된 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅 의류 제품의 수요 경향을 제시하였다.

  • With the advance of digital technology, development of exclusive CAD system for fashion textile that may suggest the future of fashion textile industry is increasingly accelerated. To build up the foundation of digital culture, it is required for fashion textile industry to develop goods with high value added and make rapid change of production system, and actually, exclusive programs are being developed to meet with the desire. Present study considers the vicissitude of fashion textile and the composition and characteristics of design system, and compares and analyses a variety of design developments of digital fashion textile. And it systemizes the expansion and change of creative digital pattern designs that are developed differing from existing graphic program, the expression of suitable textile texture, and the simulation effect by three-dimension modeling. By separating the usage of CAD system for fashion textile into designing and producing aspects, it also focuses on increasing the usage of exclusive CAD system for fashion textile.

  • With the continuation of the pandemic environment, digital transformation is being applied in various fields of the fashion industry. Augmented reality technology is a form of overlapping virtual images on the real world, and as online shopping expands in non-face-to-face environments, the use of augmented reality technology in fashion and beauty fields is affecting consumer satisfaction and sales growth. In this study, the characteristics of augmented reality contents used in the fashion industry following digital transformation were extended to the fields of clothing, accessories, virtual fashion stores, and AR fashion shows to analyze the case characteristics of augmented reality. Augmented reality technology in the fashion industry focuses on promoting clothing and accessory products through SNS or homepage through marketing activities. It is raising positive values such as raising awareness. The range of types of augmented reality used in the future digital fashion environment will continue to expand, and by deriving the usage characteristics of augmented reality technology, it is intended to contribute to presenting a future vision of the fashion industry.

  • With the development of advanced information and communication technology, Generation Z, familiar with digital culture, is drawing keen attention as a major consumer of the fashion industry. In this study, casual wear for Generation Z, who is proficient in digital devices and prefers information acquisition and lifestyle over the Internet, was designed using 3D virtual simulation and developed into four looks: Gulish, Sportive, Easy and Contemporary. The use of simulation of 3D virtual clothing in costume design can build digitalization of future fashion industry through convergence with digital fashion design planning and production process in fandemic environment and strengthen online platform distribution. In a business environment that continues to innovate to enhance work efficiency by introducing an Untouch fashion production system, the use of 3D virtual clothing technology can increase the efficiency of sustainable management through 3D sample production, online fitting, modification, and final critic processes to reduce the time and cost of human and physical resources and review.

Differences in Visual Sensibility Evaluation of Basic Color Fashion Materials in Person and on Digital Screens (실물과 디지털 화면에서 베이직 컬러 패션 소재의 시각적 감각 평가 차이)

  • The perception of a fashion product may vary depending on the texture and color of its material. Additionally, the product may appear differently in person versus on a digital screen. Therefore, in the present study, we sought to investigate the differences in visual sensibility evaluation between materials in person and on digital screens. In this study, three pairs of visual sensibility adjectives were tested for 60 samples selected as fashion materials. Fashion materials were divided into colors, embossings, and visual clarity categories. Results showed that each color had the same sense during in-person and digital evaluation. In terms of visual sensibility according to embossing, both in-person and digital evaluations of materials with embossings were found to have the same visual sense, whereas those without embossings looked different between in-person and digital evaluations. Assessments based on visual classification showed that both in-person and digital evaluations had the same sensibility. This study is meaningful in suggesting that when evaluating the visual sense of fashion material, the sensation for the digital screen versus in person may be different in some cases.

  • Fashion is subjected to newness and change by itself. Fashion trend and tendency which could predict next season akeady indicated that digital and cybel11ation environment lliould be factors in fashion. Changes in future life styles and values caused by digital environment must be variables as fashion objects by themselves. Therefore digital environment of a fashion itself and that all encountered in fashion will not only be an existing situation but also an objective and a factor which must be pursued with fashionable sense in future fashion. Advanced technology and social change in relation to digital environment requires that educational method as well as its content will be changed on the scene of education for future. Thus we should seek an educational direction in fashion design for future society in which digital environment requires new paradigm. Subject to these backgrounds this study has an intension to study the change in fashion extensively influenced by expanded digital environment on a limited situational level of fashion design education and to suggest an educational direction for professional in future fashion design who will serve as a core of fashion area in the future. It is essential that education of professional in fashion for future should be achieved by digital-minded level that eagerly understands and accepts future society in which digital environment will be a main axis. It is necessary for this to make them expetience computers, digital media including CAD program. We have to note that education of digital media is more effective and applicable when accomplished in CAI level which can be related and expetienced with fashion education rather than mere functional training in media themselves. Intellectual creativity will be a vety source of producing values and national competence in 21st centtury. Education of design professional in fashion area must positively accept these environmental charactetistics in future society, as well as deeply reflect the education for the future.

Production of Digital Fashion Contents based on Augmented Reality Using CLO 3D and Vuforia (CLO 3D와 Vuforia를 활용한 증강현실 기반 디지털 패션 콘텐츠 제작)

  • This study defines the pipeline for digital fashion contents production using CLO 3D, a 3D fashion design software that supports virtual clothing visualization as a cutting-edge simulation technology for fashion, and vuforia, a mobile platform augmented reality (AR) development kit for creating AR applications. The proposed production pipeline is organized in a method to produce a virtual clothing model through CLO 3D software through works of patterns, sewing lines, textures, etc., and AR contents based on computer vision techniques using the functions and properties of vuforia development kits in the Unity engine development environment. In addition, we present application method that can be practically utilized from the perspective of practical users, such as fashion designers and directors, by creating a new type of AR digital fashion contents directly as a flow of the defined production pipeline.

Research Trend Analysis in Fashion Design Studies in Korea using Topic Modeling (토픽모델링을 이용한 국내 패션디자인 연구동향 분석)

  • This study explored research trends by investigating articles published in the Journal of Korean Society of Fashion Design from 2001 through 2015. English key words and abstracts were analyzed using text mining and topic modeling techniques. The findings are as followings. By the text mining technique, 183 core terms, appeared more than 30 times, were derived from 7137 words used in total 338 articles' key words and abstracts. 'Fashion' and 'design' showed the highest frequency rate. After that, the well-received topic modeling technique, LDA, was applied to the collected data sets. Several distinct sub-research domains strongly tied with the previous fashion design field, except for topics such as fashion brand marketing and digital technology, were extracted. It was observed that there are the growing and declining trends in the research topics. Based on findings, implication, limitation, and future research questions were presented.
