  • The overall digital transformation in society is rapidly progressing with the corona virus epidemic. In particular, in the field of cultural heritage and museums, digital transformation is taking place throughout the preservation, management, and utilization of cultural heritage. To respond to this, the importance of cultivating the digital literacy of museum professionals to select and utilize digital cultural heritage information is increasing. However, the current digital capacity education of museum professionals has not reached the cultivation of digital literacy due to one-way theory and one-way practical education. To overcome this, we propose a digital capacity building program using virtual museums. We propose a curriculum based on participatory museums, cooperative learning, and project-based learning theories. Learners experience the entire process of acquiring, selecting, and utilizing digital cultural heritage information through individual, cooperative, constant, exhibitions, and project-based learning programs. We were evaluated by experts in terms of education, museum education, and ICT technology education to prove its usability and derive improvements. This study will contribute to building the digital capacity of museum professionals.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive the implications of operating the Media and Information Literacy (MIL) curriculum in Korea through analysis of MIL curriculum and guidance in the Philippines. The Philippine Ministry of Education runs the MIL as a core subject that high school students in grades 2-3 had to complete. MIL in the Philippines is a tool curriculum that integrates information, media, and digital literacy. In the MIL curriculum, a total of 17 units are designed to be operated for a total of 80 hours, 20 weeks in a semester. And it presents two content criteria, two achievement criteria and 58 learning competencies. The implications drawn from the research results are as follows. First, the chapter presented in the MIL curriculum can be composed only of the knowledge of a higher category or core concept of subject content. Second, it is necessary to present the concept of the term used in the MIL curriculum and specific examples according to the concept. Third, it is necessary to specify the contents necessary for practice in the MIL textbook and to strengthen the competence for the function. MIL, proposed by UNESCO and designated and operated as a subject in the Philippines, needs to be designated as a subject in Korea and operated as a curriculum.

  • YouTube usage continues to increase, and the age group who spends the most time on YouTube is surveyed in the teens. It is practically impossible to prevent children and young people from being exposed to harmful content, so nurturing the ability to choose and use YouTube content in a healthy way can be a fundamental solution. Therefore, in this study, we tried to identify what YouTube literacy is for the digital native generation, and to prepare standards to be considered in common. The purpose of this study is to refine the definition of YouTube literacy competency and to develop a checklist that can be used when guiding and guiding children and adolescents to use the YouTube platform. To this end, a conceptual definition and checklist were developed by conducting prior research and overseas case analysis, and validity was secured through expert and educator reviews. The finally developed checklist includes 4 categories, 10 areas, and 23 criteria: media access, critical understanding, media participation, and ethical use.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the topics of research related to the concepts of literacy in the field of Library and Information Science which is related to user education in libraries. Data were collected from the WoS and KCI databases, and complementary keyword analysis and topic modeling analysis techniques were used to identify topics of literature-related research articles in the field of Library and Information Science. Findings presented that there was a difference in keywords and topics between the two databases. Literacy-related topics identified from the KCI database were classified into three groups through topic modeling. Also, it was analyzed that there is a difference between the overall literacy-related research trend, the timing of the surge in research volume, and key frequent keywords in the Library and Information Science field confirmed in the study. In particular, in the study of literacy in all fields, a number of words such as 'literacy', 'education', 'media', and 'digital' were derived. However, in literature research in the field of Library and Information Science, keywords such as 'information utilization ability' and 'school library' appeared. Based on this, it was concluded that research on the ability to develop an evaluative eye for information is needed in line with today's information environment, where information is rapidly increasing in Korea in the future.

  • This study reviewed the current status of low-experienced teacher librarians with less than 5 years and attempted to identify their educational needs through IPA analysis, Borich Priority Formula, and The Locus for Focus Model. A survey was conducted on low-experienced teacher librarians with less than 5 years of experience to analyze their process in the pre-service teacher training and experiences before an appointment and to identify teacher librarians instructional expertise. The results of the analysis of the study are as follows. First, there was a statistically significant difference between the importance and performance in all areas of instructional expertise of low-experienced teacher librarians. Second, 'reading education-practice progress' was recognized as a 'Keep up good work' with high importance and satisfaction, and 'library-based instruction planning, progress evaluation', 'information literacy-curriculum design', and 'digital and media literacy education-progress and evaluation' were recognized as areas of 'Concentrate here' through IPA analysis. Third, In the Borich Priority Formula, 'teaching-learning evaluation', 'teaching-learning progress', and 'teaching-learning plan' in the Library based instruction area showed the highest educational needs. Fourth, the library-based instruction was shown to the high discrepancy/high importancy area as same as the Borich Proity Formula. The results of this study can provide implications for improving the instructional expertise of teacher librarians.

  • The wave of a knowledge and information society led by AI, Big Data, and so on is having an all-round impact on our way of life. Therefore the Ministry of Education is in a hurry to strengthen Digital Literacy, including AI and SW Education, by improving the curriculum that can cultivate basic knowledge and capabilities to respond to changes in the future society. It can be seen that establishing a foundation for cultivating Digital Literacy through all subjects and improving basic and in-depth learning in new technology fields such as AI linked to the information curriculum is an essential part for future society. However, research on each content for cultivating Digital and AI literacy is relatively active, while research on teaching and learning strategies is insufficient. Therefore in this study, a CT-based Digital and AI teaching and learning strategy that can foster that was developed and Delphi expert verification was conducted, and the final teaching and learning strategy was completed after evaluating instructor usability and analyzing learner effectiveness.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the concept, contents, and curriculum of MIL(Media and Information Literacy) proposed by UNESCO from the perspective of Library and Information Science to obtain the basic information necessary for the revision of the Library and Information Life curriculum and to derive implications. As a result of the analysis, UNESCO used the term MIL to highlight the characteristics and importance of information literacy in media education. The information literacy and library literacy were key factors in forming the concept and curriculum of MIL. UNESCO also presented 'information literacy and library skills' as essential areas of the MIL curriculum, as well as core competencies and achievement criteria. In addition, the MIL curriculum actively embraces information literacy and library literacy, with the five laws of MIL based on the five laws of library science. The results of this study could be used as a basis for the reason why MIL should be actively accepted in Library and Information Science and for the revision of Library and Information Life curriculum.

  • As social problems related to the digital divide are increasing, the elderly are facing various problems as an information alienated group. In particular, there is a need to strengthen the ability to critically understand and accept information. In this study, using the 2020 media panel survey, the effects of digital literacy in the elderly on critical thinking disposition of information were analyzed, focusing on the moderating effect of need for cognition. As a results of the analysis, it was confirmed that the operational and the information skill had a positive effect on the critical thinking disposition of information. Also, as a result of analyzing the moderating effect of NFC(Need for Cognition), it was found that NFC strengthens the influence of operational skill and reduces the influence of information skill. This suggests that the digital literacy education for the elderly needs to change from strengthening accessibility to improving information judgment.
