A study on low carbon car subsidy for automotive industry development (자동차 산업 발전을 위한 저탄소차 협력금제도에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, it investigates the highly controversial issue "low carbon car subsidy". Through the policy's intent, purpose, and necessity, it aims to present alternatives for automotive industry development. Introducing the low carbon car subsidy will bring a huge change to the vehicle purchase practices by changing vehicle purchase cost. It expects that this change will reduce greenhouse gas emission from vehicles. For successful settlement of the system, it shall set up the target sections for subsidy and levy appropriately in order to get the nation's consensus. Additionally, it has to conduct sufficient reviews the measures such as adjustment to the existing auto tax, divided payments of burden charge, etc before enforcing the system. In terms of the automobile industry, it must do their level best in technical development in order to meet the carbon dioxide emission level of imported cars until the enforcement. Also, the government has to strengthen its support to the industry.

Mechanical Properties of Concrete using Alpha-Calcium Sulfate Hemihydrate (알파형 반수석고를 활용한 콘크리트의 역학적 특성)

  • Concrete is vulnerable to cracks due to volume changes caused by temperature changes, shrinkage during curing, external forces, or poor construction. In particular, concrete placed in electric power tunnel structures can generate cracks by a variety of factors. As a result, these tunnel structures require continuous maintenance. In this study, we investigated the mechanical properties of electric power tunnel concrete using alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate, which is an industrial byproduct that has excellent expansion performance. To compensate for the decrease in compressive strength when substituting alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate, based on previous research, we added 9% alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate and adjusted the amount of admixture while using the same amount of cement. We then evaluated the mechanical properties of the concrete. The results showed that the compressive strength of the concrete was higher than that of ordinary Portland cement (OPC), and the shrinkage of concrete was reduced by more than 30% compared to that of OPC. Therefore, adding 9% of alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate is expected to have a significant effect in reducing concrete cracks.

A study on performance of the recycle asphalt mixtures using the foamed asphalt method (폼드 아스팔트 공법을 이용한 재활용 아스팔트 혼합물의 성능 연구)

  • The base asphalt mixtures that used the waste recycle asphalt correcting from the four different overlay construction sites in Seoul city were made using the foamed asphalt method. The sample mixtures were made in different ratio of the recycle asphalt and new asphalt material and the performance of the mixtures of the different ratio was investigated in the laboratory. The laboratory tests includes the Marshall test, the indirect tensile test, the resilient modulus test, the creep test and the wheel tracking test. The test of the recycle foamed asphalt mixtures(RFA) were compared with the those of the recycle hot mix asphalt(RHA) mixtures. The performance of the RFA is comparable to that of the RHA. On the other hand, the indirect tensile strength of the RFA in dry condition is lower than that of RHA and the indirect tensile strength of the RFA in wet condition is much lower than that of the RHA.

  • In recent years, the needs for more fuel-efficient and lower-emission vehicles have driven to use the alternative fuel of LPG(Liquefied Petroleum Gas) which is able to meet the more stringent legislations without many modifications to current engine. LPLi (Liquid Phase LPG Injection) system (the 3rd generation LPG injection system) is the core technology to produce power equivalent to a gasoline engine with less emissions. The LPG fuel pump can supply the compressed LP gas in the liquid phase to engine. The fuel filter is attached in the fuel pump to eliminate the remnants in the liquid phased LP gas and the performance of blowoff flow for a pump can be varied with various filters. In this study, experiments were conducted to investigate the performance and efficiency of the impeller type LPG fuel pump under various filter types of microfiber, double mesh and external filter. And blowoff flow for a LPG fuel pump was measured according to the temperature of the fuel.

Development of an Ultra-Violet Lamp and a Ballast for Ship's Ballast Water Treatment (선박평형수 처리용 자외선 램프 및 안정기 개발)

  • In this paper, we dealt with the design and fabrication of a medium pressure ultra-violet (UV) lamp and a magnetic ballast which are main components for ballast water treatment systems (BWTS). To acquire an optimal discharge condition of UV lamp, electrical and optical characteristics depending on the argon gas volume and the amount of mercury were experimentally analyzed. Rated voltage, current and power consumption of a prototype lamp were 490 [V], 8.6 [A] and 4.0 [kW], respectively. UV intensity of the lamp was 15 [%] higher than that of an equivalent lamp which is used in a BWTS. The magnetic ballast was designed in a UI core type through theoretical analysis and simulation. The open voltage and the rated power consumption of the ballast were 920 [V] and 8.5 [kVA] respectively. The disinfection efficacy which is carried out in a BWTS equipped with the UV lamp and magnetic ballast was over 99.99 [%], and this satisfy the IMO regulations.

A Study on the Compatibilization of Blends Based on Poly(phenylene ether) and Polyamide (Poly(phenylene ether)/Polyamide 블렌드의 상용화에 관한 연구)

  • Compatibilization of blends based on poly(phenylene ether) (PPE) and polyamide (PA) has been practiced with the incorporation of a copolymer formed by grafting polystyrene onto polybutadiene latex (g-BS) which is further functionalized with maleic anhydride (MAH) (g-BS*) to impart reactivity with amine groups of PA. The major focus has been placed on the effect of the various structural factors in g-BS8 on the phase morphology and mechanical performance of the blends. For the balance of impact strength and heat resistance, it was important to locate g-BS n particles inside of the PPE phase, which was accomplished by the proper control of the molecular weight and amount of PS in g-BS*. For g-BS*'s having constant molecular weight and amount of PS, the reduction of MAH content or increase of rubber particle size in g-BS* resulted in the increase of domain size and consequently loss in mechanical properties. Based on the comparison made with the conventional PPE/PA blend comprising MAH grafted PPE as a compatibilizer, it was confirmed that the comparable level of mechanical performance can be achieved by an appropriate g-BS* type material with improved whiteness index.

Kalman Filter for Estimation of Sensor Acceleration Using Six-axis Inertial Sensor (6축 관성센서를 이용한 센서가속도 추정용 칼만필터)

  • Although an accelerometer is a sensor that measures acceleration, it cannot be used by itself to measure the acceleration when the orientation of the sensor changes. This paper introduces a Kalman filter for the estimation of a sensor acceleration based on a six-axis inertial sensor (i.e., a three-axis accelerometer and three-axis gyroscope). The novelty of the proposed Kalman filter lies in the fact that its state vector includes not only the tilt angle variable but also the sensor acceleration. Thus, the filter can explicitly estimate the latter with a high accuracy. The accuracy of acceleration estimates were validated experimentally under three different dynamic conditions, using an optical motion capture system. It could be concluded that the performance of the proposed Kalman filter was comparable to that of the state-of-the-art estimation algorithm employed by the Xsens MTw. The proposed algorithm may be more suitable than inertial/magnetic sensor-based algorithms for various applications adopting six-axis inertial sensors.

An Experimental Study on the Change of Bulking Coefficient of Soils Mixed with Rock Blades (암버력이 혼재된 토사의 토량환산계수 변화에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Field and laboratory tests were performed to investigate the swelling(L value) and shrinkage modulus (C value) of soil and rock mixtures using 2 sites. According to test results, when disturbed soil and rock were mixed with same amount (5:5), the maximum density was achieved and showed 19% and 18% increased at each site comparing with the unit weight of rock only. Since measured L values of mixtures were overestimated about 4 to 11% compare to estimated values based on the conventional method. While C values were underestimated about 13~20% compare to conventional values due to the development of compacting equipments and effective construction management. When rock and soil were mixed in the ratio of 5 to 5, the unit weight of the mixture was higher than that of other mixtures and rock or soil only.

Political Economy of Inequality Mitigation : Experiences of Netherlands and Denmark (불평등 완화의 정치경제 : 네덜란드와 덴마크의 경험)

  • This study examines how the Netherlands and Denmark lowered the increase in income inequality, at a period in time when income inequality in the world was deepening. This study investigates the level and trend of income inequality in the Netherlands and Denmark compared to those in Korea, the United States, Germany and Sweden. Using the method of the decomposition of changes in income inequality, this study identifies which factors are associated with the changes in inequality in these countries. It also explores which labor market policies mitigated inequality in these two countries. One of the major reasons for the reduction in earned income inequality in the Netherlands is the increased participation of women in economic activity through the increase in voluntary part-time working. In particular, the policies designed to promote equal treatment between full-time and non-regular workers contributed to the active participation of women in part-time work. Using active labor market policies, Denmark improved the proficiency of low skilled and low-wage workers, thereby alleviating the wage gap between high-income and low-income workers. Based on the experiences of the Netherlands and Denmark, this study discusses policy directions to mitigate income inequality in Korea.

Properties of High Performance Concrete Corresponding to the Replacement Ratio of the Blast Furnace Slag (고로슬래그 미분말의 치환율 변화에 따른 고성능 콘크리트의 특성분석)

  • To analyze possibility for high performance concrete that massively displaces blast furnace slag, this study analyzed the characteristics of concrete by blast furnace slag displacement rate changes, and the results are summarized as follows. Firstly, as for fresh concrete characteristics, flow tended to increase and air amount decreased with increase in blast furnace slag displacement rate, and settling time was shown delayed. As for hardened concrete characteristics, in conditions where blast furnace slag displacement rate increased up to 50%, the compressive strength decreased below OPC at early age, however at age 28 days, its level was no less than that of OPC, and as for temperature rise by simple insulation, it decreased as displacement rate increased at early stage of hydration, but in the latter stage, hydration progress slowed down and hydration heat increased.
