Changes in Physical and Mental Health as a Function of Substandard Housing Conditions and Unaffordable Housing (주거빈곤이 건강에 미치는 영향에 관한 종단연구)

  • This longitudinal study examined the influence of substandard housing conditions and housing affordability on physical and mental health. Using data from the Korea Welfare Panel Study, this study followed 8,583 adults who continued to participate in the survey from 2009 to 2013. Multivariate analyses involved linear and logistic regression models with the hybrid method that incorporates both fixed and random effects. Results show that substandard housing conditions and excess housing cost burden had significant adverse effects on adults' mental health (e.g., depressive symptoms). About one fourth of the entire sample and one third of those in poverty reported having lived in substandard housing conditions. Additionally, nearly one fourth of those in poverty reported having experienced excess housing cost burden, which is 4 times greater than that of the entire sample. Our findings show that a substantial proportion of individuals, particularly among the poor, have a difficulty in accessing to decent, affordable housing, and that housing assistance may have additional benefits of improving the mental health of individuals with housing issues.

A Study on the Analysis of Effectiveness of 4-H Seoul Field-Experiential Learning Program (『4-H청소년 서울현장체험학습』 프로그램의 효과 분석 -청소년인증수련활동 효과성 측정도구를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze effectiveness of 4-H Seoul Field-Experiential Learning Program(4-H SFELP). The effectiveness scale of youth accredited activity was applied to analyze the effectiveness and satisfaction of the program. After screening the data, 155 responses were used to analyze the data for this study. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, 4-H SFELP has positive effects on the level of global leadership, initiative in exchange, and understanding other cultures which are related with effectiveness of youth exchange activity. Second, 4-H SFELP has positive effects on the level of confidence, challenge spirit, achievement motivation, and collective leadership which are related with effectiveness of youth adventure and challenge activity. Third, 4-H SFELP has positive effects on the level of problem-solving skills, morality, other-respect, and self-respect which are related with effectiveness of youth self-improvement activity. Fourth, 4-H SFELP has positive effects on the level of self-efficacy and autonomy but has not effects on the level of inquiring mind of participants. All these findings were discussed for youth workers and researchers.

중학생 자유학기제 창업교육(BizCool)과 긍정적사고, 학습성취도와의 관계

  • 최근 4차 산업혁명 시대라 하여 새로운 기술들이 등장하고 기술들이 융합되면서 새롭고 혁신적인 산업과 서비스가 창출되고 있다. 이러한 시대에 청소년들의 새로운 아이디어와 기술은 4차 산업혁명에 맞는 새로운 성장 동력을 확보할 수 있을 것이라고 여겨진다. 4차 산업의 혁명이 요청되는 이 시기에 산업을 견인할 수 있는 길은 창업의 길이다. 따라서 창업을 통해 4차 산업혁명을 이끌어갈 수 있는 인재가 무엇보다도 필요하다. 청소년들은 학교 프로그램을 통해 다양한 창업교육을 접하고 있으며, 공공기관의 대표적인 창업교육은 중소벤처기업부(구 중소기업청)가 주관하고 있는 BizCool이 있다. 교육부에서 중학생들에게 자유학기제를 2016년 1월 1일부터 실시하고 있으며 BizCool 교육을 통한 창업, 진학, 취업의 우수 사례들이 등장하면서 2017년 현재 대한민국 약 500여개의 학교에서 중소벤처기업부의 지원을 받아 BizCool 교육이 진행 되고 있다. BizCool은 청소년들의 기업가정신 함양 및 모의 창업 교육을 통해 확고한 경제관념을 형성하고 꿈 끼 도전정신 진취성을 갖춘 '융합형 창의인재' 양성을 목적으로 한다. 본 논문은 중학교 자유학기제를 통한 창업교육이 학생들에게 긍정적 사고와 학습성취도에 미치는 관계에 대해 연구하는데 목적을 두었다. 이 목적을 달성하기 위하여 대전광역시교육청에서 자유학기제 BizCool 교육을 받는 3개 학교를 선정하였고 갑천중, 도안중, 문정중 3개 학교의 창업교육 담당교사의 도움을 받아 창업교육 참가 학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 연구결과를 분석하였다. 실증분석결과, 첫째, 창업교육은 학생들의 긍정적 사고에 양의 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인하였다. 둘째, 창업교육은 학생들의 학습성취도에 양의 영향을 미친다는 것을 제시하였다. 셋째, 창업교육은 학생들의 학습성취도에 긍정적 사고가 매개효과를 미친다는 것을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 시사하는 바는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구결과 자유학기제 창업교육은 학생들에게 학습성취도를 높여 주었다. 따라서 학생들에게 도움이 되는 BizCool 교육을 전국 초, 중, 고등학교 11,733개교에 확산시켜 체계적으로 습득 할 수 있는 환경이 조성되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, 연구결과 창업교육은 긍정적 사고에 영향을 미쳤다. 전기숙(2016)에 따르면 청소년의 행복에 있어서 긍정적인 대인관계가 가장 중요한 요인이 된다고 하였다. BizCool 교육을 통해 사람과 팀의 소중함을 깨달으며 소통하는 법을 노력한다면 바른 인성을 갖춘 창의성 높은 학생들로 성장할 것이다. 셋째, 연구결과 창업교육의 학습성취도는 긍정적 사고를 가지고 있는 학생들에게 더욱 높게 나타났다. 긍정적 사고를 가지고 자신감 있게 매사 행동해 나간다면 학생들은 성취로 인한 만족감을 느끼며 행복한 학교생활을 해나갈 수 있고 BizCool 교육과 함께 멋진 미래를 만들어 갈 것이다. 본 연구에서 한계점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 특정 지역, 특정 학교를 대상으로 실시하였기 때문에 표본의 수가 제한적이므로 전체를 대표하기에는 제약이 있다. 둘째, 긍정적 사고는 학생들의 환경과 상황에 따라 달라질 수 있으므로 연구 대상자의 조건 면에서 한계가 있다. 셋째, 중학교 자유학기제 창업교육의 체계화가 미비하다. 학교에서 창업교육을 하는 담당 교사는 창업 경험이 풍부하지 않기 때문에 창업교육 전문가가 필요하며 국가기관과 기업 등이 연계한 학습 형태를 구축하여 더 활발하고 현장감 있는 창업교육이 실시되기를 바란다.

A Study on Community Counter-terrorism (지역사회 대테러활동에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, Horgan(2005)'s argument highlights the centrality to any successful counter-terrorism strategy of understanding the social context in which terrorist ideologies take root. Counter-terrorism refers to the practices, tactics, techniques, and strategies that governments, militaries, police departments and corporations adopt in response to terrorist threats and/or acts, both real and imputed. Pickering et al.(2008) historically explained four counter-terrorism strategies as traditional counter-terrorism model, community intelligence model, belonging model, social cohesion model. It is thus proposed that counter-terrorism strategies are based in established networks within the community and proactively seeks to continually renew these relationships between the community and police. This approach must embrace an explicit recognition of multiculturalism and its political imperative and drive in a policing organization explicitly committed to social cohesion and human rights in both discourse and practice. We, therefore, suggests community tree counter-terrorism approaches, or community intelligence model, belonging model and social cohesion model to apply to counter-terrorism agencies in Korea. These models are on the basis of Pickering et al.'s counter-terrorism models, which by using community policing to boot socially cohesion police are better able to position themselves as mediators to negotiate settlements between the competing demands of different social groups.

Actors' Challenging Journey to Self-discoveries in Building a Character (배우의 자아발견을 향한 여정과 인물구축을 위한 도전)

  • There is much confusion with the relationship between character and actor. Under the pressure of 'becoming' a character, the actor tends to begin his work apart from his own senses, imagination and memory, and is most likely to fall into the trap of artificiality and clich$\acute{e}$. Like every other art, the actor has to begin honestly with himself who, in nature, has unfathomable possibilities. To be and live as a character, the actor has to experience. To experience, to react. To react, to see with all the senses. Like ours, each character's life goes on from reaction to reaction, reacting to the images from the imagination and the memory. "You are what you see." The actor is put into the extremely unfamiliar circumstances of drama, given only with his own senses, imagination and memory. Fear comes in. However, fear cannot stop the actor's challenging journey to self-discoveries. The actor does and acts, not because he is certain but because he is not. The actor challenges himself to go beyond the limit and uncertainty, so that he will finally come to know and truly understand human beings from the challenges of his own. In a nutshell, acting is a journey to the unknown and the unfamiliar in which the actor unceasingly discover new 'I's.

A Study on Consumers Purchasing Behavior of Mobile Shopping - User Characteristics, Flow, Perceived Risk, Involvement - (모바일 쇼핑의 소비자 구매행동에 관한 연구 - 사용자 특성, 플로우 경험, 지각된 위험, 관여 유형를 중심으로 -)

  • This study is to examine the factors that influence purchasing behavior and decision-making when consumers buy goods through mobile shopping, define purchasing decision-making with the steps of problem recognition, information search, alternative assessment, and purchasing behavior to understand mobile consumer behavior, and investigate how the factors of each step play roles and influence consumers' purchasing decision-making through positive analysis to figure out consumer purchasing behavior in mobile shopping. The study results, First, the user characteristics of information search influence flow. Second, in the relations between the user characteristics in the step of information search and perceived risk in alternative assessment, if recognition on gains is higher, perceived risk for time loss gets lower, and when the level of skills is higher, perceived risk gets higher, and it has been partly adopted that innovativeness does not influence risk perception. Third, in the relations between flow experience and purchasing intention, it has been found to be partially significant that remote presence and challenge do not influence purchasing intention but do influence excitement, attention concentration, and control and also do influence perceived risk and purchasing intention. Fourth, according to the results of analyzing the difference of consumer purchasing behavior by the types of involvement, practical involvement and sensual involvement, user characteristics and flow, and perceived risk differ by the types of products in terms of the search process, thereby changing purchasing intention. Lastly, the significance and limitations of this study was discussed.

A Study on Development Direction of Public Interest Contents through Gamification Case Analyses in Domestic and Foreign Environmental Fields (국내·외 환경분야 게이미피케이션 사례분석을 통한 공익 콘텐츠 개발 방향 연구)

  • As environmental problems such as global warming, and ecocide have a great influence on society, the attention to environmental pollution is being expanded. To solve the environmental problems, the awareness and practice of members of society in question is required. However, it has been found that few people are participating in practising environmental protection in real life. Our main goals are to show that Gamification has great potential in delivering messages for public interest and to suggest guidelines for researchers and public contents developers who engage in designing in relation to Gamification. Based on the domestic and foreign theoretical investigations, we found that Gamification mechanism made based on psychological mechanism of users aims at public interests' value by maximizing motivations of users and spreading social relationships among people. As shown in the case study, if contents are developed by reflecting the elements which stimulate challenging of users, the elements which can express their opinions, and the elements of altruism which form the sympathy in the development of public interest contents in the future, practical participation of people to solve social problems can be expected.

Change of Mother-child Interaction and Perceptions After Participating in Parent Counseling Education Combining Physical Contact Play Activities (신체접촉놀이를 통합한 부모상담교육 참여에 따른 어머니-유아 상호작용 및 인식 변화 연구)

  • Objective: The main purpose of this study was to investigate the change of mother-child interaction and perceptions of parenting and play after participating in parent counseling education program which is combined physical contact play activities with client-centered counseling technique. Methods: The subjects were 6 mothers and their child who attended more than 7 out of 8 times in the program, which carried out totally 8 sessions, once a week for 90 minutes. Marschak Interaction Method (MIM) and semi-structured questionnaire about parenting and play were used to assess the change. Results: First, mothers' interaction with their child was become more nurturable and mutual engaged, and facilitated their child's challenge simultaneously providing structure. Second, child-directed interaction was increased rather than mother-directed, and the waiting time for their child's attempt became longer. Conclusion/Implications: The parent counseling education program changed the mother-child interaction more positively. This study has the implication in terms of combining play with education and counseling, but there is the limitation of generalization due to qualitative analysis based on limited cases.

The Study of Relations between Positive Psychological Capital, Career Planning, and Job Preparation Activities of Physical Education Students (체육계열학과 대학생들의 긍정심리자본과 경력계획 및 취업준비행동의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to reveal the relations between positive psychological capital, career planning, and job preparation activities of physical education students. To do that, pilot survey and main survey are separately conducted. At first, pilot survey is carried out in September 9, 2015 with third and fourth grade of students in D University in Kyeongbuk. Main survey is conducted with students majoring in physical education in Youngnam province except for the students who are participated in pilot survey. In main survey, 310 questionnaires are collected. However, 7 questionnaires are excluded because they are not suitable for the study, so 303 cases are used to conduct analysis of frequency. Multiple regression analysis in SPSS version 23.0 for windows statistical package program is used and the results are presented as follow; First, dynamic stability, hope, and optimism in positive psychological capital of physical education students have a positive effect on career planning. Second, optimism, dynamic stability, and self-efficacy in positive psychological capital of physical education students have positive influence on career planning. Third, the order of concreteness and challenge in career planning of psychological education students positively affect job preparation.

Vocational Adjustment in Elderly Men Who Chose a Creative Occupation after Retirement (퇴직 후 창의적 직업을 선택한 남성 노인의 직업적응 경험)

  • This study examines the vocational adjustment experiences of elderly men who chose a creative occupation after retirement. The aims are to understand the related meanings and to provide specific empirical data on the elderly who hope to start a creative occupation. Five men aged 65 years or older who chose a creative occupation after retirement were enrolled in the study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the participants. The collected data were qualitatively analyzed, and a total of 7 categories, 25 subcategories, and 132 concepts were identified. The seven categories were "challenge led by a sense of freedom," "reflection of the need for 'fun,'" "difficulties and limitations felt by a non-expert," "concerns and effort to afford the increasing expenses," "joy for accomplishment," "ways to utilize my creativity," and "reward from increased social participation." The participants felt that adjusting to a creative occupation was a process by which their potential creativity was expressed. They felt the joy of working that they had not felt before, and the series of processes by which they overcame difficulties during work and increased their social participation were in line with the goals of creative aging. In order to help older adults in Korea to choose and adjust to creative occupations in their older adulthood, there is a need for creative-occupation-related education prior to retirement and for various policies and practical efforts that consider the change of social environment. Furthermore, our findings suggest that choosing a creative occupation after retirement is an effective measure for promoting successful aging among the elderly in Korea.
