Information Literacy Program is a new important theme in librarianship, especially in university library. The purpose of this study is to give an overview of information literacy program, its meaning, and its importance to information society. This study also provides a brief description of the program being developed at university libraries in America and Korea.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the historical changes of information literacy instruction in Japanese school libraries and in-depth research into recent educational situations. Related literature researches, the publication of School Library Association, The Courses of Study have been reviewed in this paper. As results of this research, information literacy education in Japanese school library has been developed from introductory period of the library use guidance after late 1940's, seek period of teaching method development after late 1950's, establishment period of information literacy instruction after 1980's, and enlargement period of inquiry based learning after 2000's.

The purpose of this study is to develop the public library programs that support the needs of multicultural families by examining the details of their information needs, focusing on the children's education issues of multicultural families. For this purpose, the data on experiences and needs related to the education of multicultural families' children were collected through in-depth interviews with married immigrant women. The study found the following six types of children's education-related needs of multicultural families: 1) Lack of understanding about the educational system and situation of Korean schools, 2) Their children's needs for language and learning 3) Their children's Bilingual education 4) Educational information for the role of parents, 5) Prejudice and discrimination against their children at school 6) Supporting library awareness and experience of mulitcultural families. Based on these needs, the following programs were suggested: 1) Parent role program for children's education, 2) Children's learning program, 3) Children's language education program, 4) Multicultural understanding education, 5) Library user education and guidance.

The purpose of this paper is to make understanding on the influence of school librarian on students' reading behavior. The Writer has collected and analysed data from 2,865 students in Daegu Metropolitan City according to statistical method and process. In conclusion, the writer proved school librarian give much developmental influence on students' reading behavior.

This study analyzed factors affecting the information literacy of students and the effects of information literacy education. Based on the results. the study aimed at presenting plans for the enhancement of information literacy education hereafter. The differences in the mean value of computer operating skill, library related knowledge, frequency of library use and information literacy prior to and after taking the course in information literacy education were compared. The result of hypothesis testing on the effects of previous educational experience, computer operating skill, knowledge of library use and frequency of information use have on information literacy, as well as the relationship between course satisfaction and opinion after taking the lecture were all adopted. The result of the study implied that more systematic and concrete information literacy education program is urgently needed.

The types of information literacy in school library is classified into usage instruction of school library, reading education, instructional development o4 courseware with school library and integrated instruction of collaboration with school librarian and teacher. A measure of scholastic achievement on information literacy varies in each school. The cause is rely on the absence of librarians who teach information literacy and lack of understanding on the role of school library in information literacy. Nevertheless, we know that the program based on subject teacher is successful in terms of the effectiveness of the program. It demonstrate that if information literacy will be considered as important course in the curriculum for school librarian, the effectiveness of information literacy can be enhanced dramatically. For the purpose some strategies are required. In this paper, propose three strategies, which are integration of information literacy into curriculum of schools, analysis of the curriculums and a practical method for training school librarian.

This study is for a small sized library to expand the functions of public libraries in the community. This study aims to encourage local residents utilizing information and public libraries by opening parted facilities to public and naming it a substitute. It is expected to contribute to richer welfare system. In detail, the study discusses progression of the small sized library as well as budgeting and hiring staffs in Committee on Library and Policy. However, there is limitations in terms of capabilities because school library is different from public library target users, space, unit plans. Therefore, this study investigates a small sized library as a function to find out type, plan, and space availability and size of ideal open school library.

The purposes of this study are to investigate the perception and satisfaction of parents about e-books and to suggest ways to improve library e-book services. A user survey of one hundred twenty parents is carried for library use, computer use, and e-book user / non user behavior, library e-book service evaluation, selection of children's e-books and so on. Based upon the results, proactive library e-book service promotion such as public relations and e-book user education, easy access to e-book collections, recognition of e-book services at libraries, positions for e-book librarians and their professional continuing education, and self-evaluation of library e-book services.

A study on the remote library users showed that remote users preferred online databases and internet as information resources because of easy access and easy of use. However, they have used books and journals, which are printed resources, as main information resources because online databases and internet cannot satisfy their information needs. Also, 86.7 percent of remote users consider library services as an important issue to choose a distance learning program, and remote users extremely motivated by their professors to use library so that there are needs to have partnership between distance learning programs and library services. Finally, remote users consider authority and accuracy and contents of obtained information as important issues for their information rather than design of the databases, so that library should secure more digitalized information for remote users needs. This study is to contribute to improve quality of information services for remote users, however, it is not thoroughgoing enough, and there should be successive researches in the future.

According to the 7th education curriculum and advent of information society people expect the school library to do various things. Based on an evaluation model of education policy, the policy process of the school library was divided into an agenda setting, policy making and policy implementation. Then I developed a method of evaluation from an administrative and political point of view. Using this, I analyzed problems with school library policy and I categorized them. I suggested better solutions for Improving the school library policy.
