  • This study aims to investigate the awareness and status of smart attendance systems in the professors and college students who directly use an electronic smart system, a learning management system utilizing IT and to propose a plan for improvement to increase the efficiency of the smart attendance system. As for the research method, this study conducted an online survey with 264 students at S. University to investigate the status of their use and awareness of the smart attendance system. As a result, first, the professors mostly were satisfied with the smart attendance system, and it would be necessary to improve learning ability and the function of self-management in connection with the learning management system. Second, the college students were dissatisfied with the user interface and speed of the smart attendance system, and it would be necessary to improve the delay time, login, update, and false attendance.

  • This study is intended to analyze flipped classroom learning activities, which have recently been spotlighted as a learner-centered teaching method in universities, from the perspective of cultural and historical activity theory. A survey and some participation observations were conducted with one professor and the students who participated in Educational Methods and Technology courses at A university. The components of the flipped classroom learning activities were analyzed based on the model of the activity system, and contradictions that appeared in the interactions between components were analyzed. Four implications were proposed for a more advanced flipped classroom learning activity system: the professor's and the learners' true identity recognition and role performance, strengthening the organic link between online and offline activities, support for alleviating the burden of teaching and learning preparation, and readjusting the system to support its smooth operation.

  • The aim of this study was to understand and describe the awareness of the emotional labor of nursing college students in a graduation year. The participants were eleven students in nursing colleges. The data were collected from September 5, 2016 to November 25 through in-depth interviews until it was saturated. All interviews were recorded and transcribed as they were spoken. Colaizzi's phenomenological method was used for data analysis. In this study, twenty-one themes, ten theme clusters and five categories were generated. The five categories consisted of 'Confused by irrational circumstances,' 'Skepticism on nursing occupation,' 'Empathy for the nurse's difficult situation,' 'Learning nurses' words and behavior', and 'Preparing for the future.' These results will contribute to the qualitative improvement of nursing practice education by providing the grounds for an effective educational strategy development that manages the emotional labor of Nursing students from clinical practice. In-depth studies on the experience of nursing students' emotional labor and studies on various factors affecting the awareness of emotional labor in nursing students and problems will be required.

  • This study examined the relationship of grit, goal perception and academic adjustment of adult female students in a distance university. We additionally investigated how academic work-family conflict and social support influenced the grit-adjustment relationship. Grit is defined as passion and perseverance for long-term goals and it has been known as one of the predictors of adjustment indicators including academic achievement. A total of 642 female students in a distance university were participated in the survey and a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was utilized for data analysis. Results showed that our model fit data well, specifically, two components of grit (i.e. consistency of interest and perseverance of effort) positively predicted academic adjustment. Results from analyses of specific indirect effects revealed that consistency of interest was found to have a positive direct effect on academic adjustment while perseverance of effort had a positive indirect effect via goal perception, suggesting the discriminant predictability of grit's two components. Lastly, academic work-family conflict was found to negatively predict academic adjustment while social support predicted a positive academic adjustment via goal perception.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop education programme on climate change for elementary students which is based on student activity. The programme is intended to raise children's awareness and to build positive attitudes towards climate change. Ten programmes are developed. The main themes of the contents are 'a meteorological observation', 'a change of season', 'the monitoring climates of the past', 'the climate and life', 'the climate and human lives', 'the causes of climate change', 'the influence of the climate change' and 'the action on climate change' which are selected from the survey of previous domestic education programmes. Each programme consists of 5 steps: Introduction, Concrete experience, Reflective observation, Abstract conceptualisation and Active experimentation. We expect that this programme would enhance children's awareness and attitudes on climate change and induce positive and active response to climate change.

  • Today, many universities are confronted with the changing education paradigm such as e-Learning, CBT(Computer-based Training), Virtual University. Particularly, the Virtual University is now in the countrys educational mainstream as a legitimate, potentially standards-setting educational environment. These streams are certainly a new opportunity or threat to our universities. To overcome this problem, we should think this as strategic, and should implement IT-based Virtual University System to which computer and network technology is main edge. So, we think that the Virtual University System is SIS(Strategic Information System) which support universitys future education strategies. We proposed a planning framework for the Virtual University System. The framework which is based on the IS planning methodology is composed of such as environment analysis, requirement analysis of the system, strategic roles and objectives setting, scenario analysis of budget and revenue. To define the strategic roles and objectives of the system, we surveyed it on the side of instructors. We proposed five factors, which are to (1) improve competitiveness (2) reduce cost and secure profit (3) enhance education services (4) change the future education model (5) decrease dysfunctions of virtual education model.

  • This study investigated the perception of the learning-workers' organizational effectiveness. They participate in the degree-linked work-learning parallel system. As a result, the turnover intention and job performance were higher than those of general office workers, and organizational commitment was lower. In addition, the higher scholastic year and grades, the higher job satisfaction. the higher grades, the lower burnout. specially the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders showed higher turnover intentions than the first grader. The results of the survey of (dis)satisfaction factors of learning workers also show that OJT management in the field should be strengthened rather than OFF-JT education in universities. This paper suggests that companies participating in the work-learning parallel system need higher-level management in aspects such as educational supports, personnel management, and OJT management as well as competency development of learning-workers. It shows that supplementary measures are needed for learning time and learner management of participating companies.
