Enhancement of computing education became an international phenominon including South Korea's revised national curriculum 2015. As the enhancement begins to focus on universal computing education, researches to investigate long-term effect of the enhancement is needed. To explore whether the reinforced computing education will bring which long-term impacts, this study investigated university students' experience on computer subject in their secondary schools, and major selection and achievement in a college computing course. As results, there was no statistically significant relation of taking the computer subject per se and major selection and achievement, but significant relation between contents of the subject, and major selection and achievement. This study has limitation on design and results lacking longitudinal data but contributes emphasizing need of longitudinal study to measure long-term effect of enhancement of computing education and providing clues of what impact it would bring.

The objective of this paper is to understand the characteristics of highschool students in selecting a career. The subject included 750 students from, who became a university student in 2011. The most of number of students answered that they applied to 3 to 4 universities and they decided their major and university on their last year of high school. Many placed weight on the major rather than the school. Among types of selecting career, family-type received the most voted. In selecting a major, the most answered that they consider their aptitude and then career opportunity. Most students said they were equipped with information and knowledge about the major they applied for beforehand. In selecting a university, many mainly applied for the ones with the highest chance of getting accepted. Many said they learned of the university from their high school/teacher or through the internet. A very few answered that they learned of the university through media such as TV/radio and newspaper. Therefore, appropriate information should be provided to the ones who have the greatest influence on students in selecting a career, family. Also, universities need to develop a promotion strategy that utilizes high schools as well as the internet and smartsphones.

In the information society, the ability of learners to use computers to conduct self-directed learning is important. Indeed, the higher the computer's ability to use computers, the more the academic achievement needs to be analyzed. The purpose of this study was to identify longitudinal trajectories of student awareness of ICT literacy and frequency of computer use. We also examined the effects of the longitudinal patterns on academic achievement and college major choice. A non-parametric approach, K-means for longitudinal data(KML) algorithm, was conducted using 9-year longitudinal data from Seoul Education Longitudinal Study (2010-2018). Findings indicated that a pattern presenting a higher awareness of ICT literacy and frequency of computer use showed better academic achievements and was likely to prefer to choose engineering-related majors.

This study statistically examined the factors (individual factors, family factors, high school factors, college factors, and social factors) that affect the choice of the major by surveying with students who have entered the library and information science departments of colleges in Korea. The results were as follows. First, it was confirmed that individual factors and social factors had significant effects on the choice of the library and information science major in college. Second, it was found that individual factors had a greater influence on the choice of the library and information science major than social factors do. Third, individual factors had significant positive(+) effects on the choice of the library and information science major at colleges, whereas it was verified that social factors had significant negative(-) effects on the choice of the library and information science major at colleges. The findings of this study can be used as useful basic data for library and information science departments of colleges in Korea to prepare for a decrease in the number of college entrants in the coming years.

This study attempted to identify the relationship between nursing students' adjustment to college life, stress, and major satisfaction, and to identify the factors that affect career decision-making self-efficacy. The study included 298 nursing students from two universities in the region, and data collection was conducted from April 24 to May 9, 2023. Results, It showed a significant negative correlation between college adjustment and stress, and it was found that there was a significant positive correlation between major satisfaction and career decision-making self-efficacy. Major satisfaction was the predictor variable that had the greatest impact on career decision-making self-efficacy, and the explanatory power was found to be 44.8%. This shows that nursing students with high self-efficacy are satisfied with their majors and adapt well to university life if they choose nursing studies. Therefore, there is a need to develop various career exploration and career education programs to enhance career decision-making self-efficacy.

This study attempted to determine the relationship between college students' motivation for major selection (personal motivation, social motivation), academic performance, and career maturity, and to identify the influencing factors of career maturity in order to provide basic data for improving career maturity. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 199 university students in C city. As a result of examining the correlation between personal motivation for major selection, social motivation, academic achievement, and career maturity, career maturity showed a significant positive correlation with personal motivation for major selection (r=.417, p=.00) and no significant correlation with social motivation for major selection and academic achievement. The influencing factors of career maturity were personal motivation for major selection, economic activity, and major department, and the explanatory power was 24%. Therefore, it seems that university-level support is needed to enable students to engage in economic activities in fields related to their majors. Since personal motivation is important in major selection, we should focus on increasing personal motivation for major selection by providing high school students with a wide range of opportunities, such as career experience and future work experience.

The purpose of this study is to explore related variables to influence gifted college students' career conviction and to propose a structural model. For the study, 292 college students who have experienced university affiliated gifted education program during their school days. Rational decision making test, intrinsic motivation test, career decision efficacy test, and major conviction test were utilized. SPSS program and AMOS were used for statistical analyses. The results are summarized as follows. The fit of measurement model was found to be TLI=.923, CFI=.951, RMSEA=.077, indicating most of the fit indexes were acceptable. The path to career conviction from rational decision making and intrinsic motivation was found to be insignificant, suggesting a revised model. The fit of final revised measurement model was found to be TLI =.926, CFI=.951, RMSEA=.075, indicating the model was acceptable. Interestingly, the career decision efficacy was found to be the complete mediator among the rational decision making, intrinsic motivation, and career conviction. The results of the study showed that career decision efficacy has a very important role in gifted college students'career choice and decision. Implication of the study related to the career education and counseling has been discussed in depth.

This study was conducted to evaluate the characteristics of major selection of college students majoring in culinary. By conducting an Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) through students who are currently majoring in a culinary major, it is intended to increase student satisfaction, student loyalty, the enrollment rate and to present the direction the college should pursue. The questionnaire was conducted for 4 weeks from June 22, 2020 to July 19, 2020, the results are as follows. As a result of the t-test (paired sample t-test) for 23 attributes, the average value of importance was 4.0765, the average value of satisfaction was 3.5091, showing high importance, the attributes considered important by item were 'educational facilities (4.50)', 'school welfare (4.50)', the attributes having the highest satisfaction with experience after selecting a major were 'aptitude and conformity (3.94)', 'future hope and concordance (3.91)'. The IPA analysis results on the major selection attributes of college students majoring in culinary are as follows. First, In the first quadrant, 11 attributes including 'aptitude and conformity' appeared, Second, In the second quadrant, 5 attributes including 'employment support' appeared. Third, In the third quadrant, 5 attributes including 'college scholastic ability score' appeared, Finally, In the fourth quadrant, 2 attributes including 'experience in major field' appeared.

This research aims at knowing educational objectives and understanding the whole departmental processes of two-year education programs of junior colleges in the field of ophthalmic optics. Our analyses can be categorized by on liberal art courses, compulsory subjects and optional subjects. The educational purpose of all the seven colleges was training the professional worker, meets well the educational requirements of two year college. All seven colleges' curriculum is open to the national licence examination subjects, but more academic credits are demended in eye examination of refraction, test of ocular function, professional sense of cultural subjects field, leadership in organization and course of marketing related subjects, and stronger relation with clinical examination are also required.

Engineering Colleges in Korea have two educational objectives: 1) strengthening of speciality 2) cultivation of the engineering literacy such as the ability of working together, the ability of communication and creative thinking. In order to achieving these objectives, Engineering Literacy education was originated. The improvable proposal of general education course of engineering college is divided into two parts. One is American type that emphasizes on the general education independently of major. The other is Korean ABEEK's type that attach importance to engineering literacy. This study researches the case of Seoul National University that applied ABEEK's engineering literacy on redesigning the curriculum. To redesign the curriculum, college of engineering, Seoul National University reduced the optional courses in general education and had the students complete the engineering literacy. This device is effective, because it is able to keep the universal general education and make the most of major's characteristics.
