This study is performed to verify the relationship between Korean's anniversary days and meals. To do so, three steps are carried out. First, literature review and mini focus group interview are performed to list up important anniversary days in our culture. Second, anniversary orientation scale(22 items) is developed. Third, a survey(n=486) is implemented to identify the relationship among demographic variables such as sex, age, and perceived economic level, psychological ariables such as self-esteem, life satisfaction, depression, individuality-relatedness, interpersonal sensitivity, materialism as a value and perceived social support, and meal frequency. The results are as follows: Female is significantly higher than male in anniversary orientation. And younger people(20~39 years old) are significantly higher than older people(over 40ties) in anniversary orientation. The higher life satisfaction, perceived social support, relatedness, interpersonal sensitivity, and materialism are, the higher anniversary orientation is. Lastly, middle and high anniversary orientation groups showed more meal frequency at the anniversary day than low anniversary orientation group.
The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of growth orientation, life satisfaction, perceived stress, positive psychological capital and interpersonal relationships in the group coaching program for the promotion of growth orientation for university students based on the model of the social-cognitive approach to motivation. The program consisted of eight topics: growth orientation, growth mindset and brain plasticity, self-directed goal setting, talent which is a product of ongoing effort, failure attitude and perspective change, positive emotion, thinking and behavior, value of growth orientation and self-coaching, respectively. The program comprised a total of eight sessions, 120 minutes each, and the final program was completed through a preliminary experiment with three university students. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program, 48 university students were divided into 16 in the experimental group, 16 in the comparative group, and 16 in the control group. The experimental group participated in the group coaching program to enhance the growth orientation based on the model of the social-cognitive approach to motivation developed in this study, the comparative group participated in a learning goal orientation improvement program based on an incremental implicit theory, and the control group did not carry out any program. Three groups were tested in pre, post, follow-up1(after 1 month) and follow-up2(after 3 months) in order to growth orientation, life satisfaction, perceived stress, positive psychological capital and interpersonal relationships. We performed analysis to confirm the homogeneity to the data of the three groups and to verify the interaction effects between times and groups. As a result, it was confirmed that the group coaching program to promote growth orientation, life satisfaction, perceived stress, positive psychological capital and interpersonal relationships had statistically significant effect and was more effective than the comparative program due to the larger effective size. Also, we confirmed that the coaching effect was sustained after the program was finished and more effectively maintained than the comparative program. Based on the results of this study, this study has academic implications because it verify the effectiveness of the group coaching for the promotion of the growth orientation by scient ic method.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of sociotropy, as perceived by college students, and ambivalence over emotional expressiveness on their interpersonal problems. A total of 248 college students (127 males and 121 females) living in Seoul and Gyonggi responded to questionnaires, which included items related to sociotropy, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness, and interpersonal problem. First, college students' sociotropy was correlated with ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and interpersonal problems. It was suggested that people with high level of sociotropy experienced more emotional expressive conflict and interpersonal problems than people with low level of sociotropy. Second, male and female college students' ambivalence over emotional expressiveness partially mediated the relation between sociotropy and move toward other people, one of the interpersonal problem's subtypes. Male college students' ambivalence over emotional expressiveness has fully mediated the relation between sociotropy and move against other people, one of the interpersonal problem's subtypes. And female college students' ambivalence over emotional expressiveness has fully mediated the relation between sociotropy and move away from other people, one of the interpersonal problem's subtypes. According to gender difference, different interpersonal problems appeared. This study's results may provide some important suggestions for interpersonal problems in college students by increasing understanding of multiple dimensions according to their internal tendency and emotional expressiveness.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between smartphone addiction and interpersonal competence of college students using social network service(SNS) through smartphones. This study used a descriptive study design. The convenience sample consisted of 502 college students in six cities. The data were collected from May to June in 2012 using Korean Smartphone Addiction Proneness Scale and Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data. The results showed that 24.8% of SNS users were considered as a risk group, while 75.2% were normal user group. There were no significant differences of interpersonal competence between risk group and normal user group in the SNS users. However, risk group had higher self-disclosure scores than normal user group. The subjects who had higher scores for virtual life, one of smartphone addiction subdomains, had lower interpersonal competence and those with higher smartphone addiction scores showed lower score of managing interpersonal conflict in subdomains of interpersonal competence. These findings would contribute in development of preventive interventions for smartphone addiction and improvement program for interpersonal competence in college students.
This study was an investigation of 379 people to analyze the relations between leadership and happiness recognized by university athletes. First, happiness of university athletes showed the highest score in smooth relationship with parents. And male athletes score higher than female athletes. Second, the sub-factors of achievement and self-acceptance of happiness have significantly correlated with all factors of leadership. In particular, self-improvement, goal-seeking, and influence are most highly correlated. And the religious influence was the lowest correlation. Third, achievement orientation of leadership factors affect all sub-factors of happiness and influence, and self-regulation has an effect to sub-factors of happiness. Fourth, flexible leadership, interpersonal understanding, teamwork and cooperation, orientation did not affect happiness.
Intimate friendships and a sense of belonging have positive effects on adolescent's psychological adaptation. Belongingness orientation is the motivation to belong. It is divided into growth orientation and deficit-reduction orientation, both of which have different effects on psychological adaptation and interpersonal characteristics. This study was conducted to determine how adolescents' belongingness orientation affected their psychological adaptation and friend networks. Students in their second year of middle school were surveyed both at the beginning and end of the spring semester. Friend networks were measured through network centrality analysis. Multilevel regression analysis produced three major results. The first major result was that the correlations between growth orientation and loneliness and between growth orientation and stress at the beginning of the spring semester was statistically significant even when friend network centrality was included in the analysis model, but the correlation between deficit-reduction orientation and loneliness and between deficit-reduction orientation and stress were not statistically significant. The second major result was that growth orientation significantly predicted friend network centrality at the end of the spring semester. This effect was significant even when friend network centrality at the beginning of the semester and psychological adaptation level at the end of the spring semester were added to the analysis model. The third major result was that the correlation between friend network centrality at the end of the semester and psychological adaptation level was statistically significant even when psychological adaptation levels at the beginning and the end of the semester were included in the analysis model. This study is meaningful in that it had a short-term longitudinal design and empirically demonstrated the relationship between belongingness orientation and psychological adaptation level of adolescents and between belongingness orientation and the development of friend networks. Lastly, we discussed limitations of this study and provided suggestions for future research.

The purpose of this study is to investigate influences of usage motivation of SNS and interpersonal relationship orientation on Mobile Social Network Service(MSNS) addition proneness. For this purpose, questionnaires including MSNS addition Proneness scale, usage motivation of SNS scale and interpersonal relationship orientation scale were administered to 250 college students in Seoul. Regression analysis revealed that usage motivation of SNS showed influences of interpersonal relationship orientation. The Usage motivation of SNS showed influences of MSNS addiction proneness, interpersonal relationship orientation showed partial influence MSNS addiction proneness. The result of this study implicated that level of MSNS addiction tendencies needs to be considered for counseling with used of SNS motives. This study findings would contribute in development of preventive interventions for SNS addiction and improvement program for interpersonal competence in college students. Futhermore, exploration of various ways to satisfy motivation of interpersonal relation would be helpful to reduce SNS addiction tendencies. Finally, based on the result, implications of finding, limitation and suggestions for future research were discussed.
The purposes of this study were firstly to reveal the sub-dimensions of time management behaviors and secondly to group workers by time management behaviors. The major findings of this study were as follows. (1)Factor analysis of the 36 items on the time management behaviors instrument revealed three components: factor planning, relations-intention, and urgency. (2)Workers were categorized into four types by the level of those three factors of time management behaviors: 'accomplishment type'($28.31\%$), 'chronic-urgency type'($24.39\%$), 'valuing-job type'($23.73\%$) and 'valuing-human relations type'($23.57\%$). (3)The accomplishment type gained the highest points on the time management satisfaction score, and the level of important${\cdot}$non-urgencies was the highest score, indicating that the accomplishment type had good time management. However, the level of unimportant${\cdot}$urgencies was the highest score. Therefore, this type should try to reduce the level of unimportant${\cdot}$urgencies.
This study was conducted to develop core competence model for bancassurance personnel. Prior studies have conducted both FGI and specialist workshops to explore and define the necessary competencies for bancassurance personnel. As a result, 17 such competencies have been identified. A survey involving 105 bancassurance personnel from affiliated banks was conducted to compare perceived importance with retention levels of the aforementioned required competencies. SPSS 20.0, T-test, Borich analysis, and The Locus for Focus model were utilized to confirm education priority and for statistical analysis. The bancassurance personnel competencies that were rated as high in importance and retention were as follows: relationship building, interpersonal understanding, proactive execution of duties, and introspective self-confidence. In chronological order, the educational priorities for the required competencies were found to be as follows: professionalism, proposal capability, achievement orientation, and relationship building.
This study explored how media and interpersonal communication affected voters in Busan mayoral by-election, focusing on the mutual relations among media use and attentive use of political campaign, interpersonal communication, and voting participation. Also, comparative analysis between image factor and the factor of political party influencing the decision of a candidate were examined. Additionally, it was analysed differential media effects on candidates' image. According to the results, the local media use and attentive use of political campaign had the influence on the increase of interpersonal communication about the election. Voters who had much interpersonal discussion with others participated more than voters who had less interpersonal discussion. Media use did not directly affect the participation of voting, but indirectly contributed to participation of voting through interpersonal discussion. The assumption of differential media effects on candidates image was partly proved. There were statistically significant differences in the factor of competence of candidates' image among three experimental groups (attentive use of TV discussion program, Internet web sites of two candidates, and printing materials of political advertisement). Furthermore, with three main vote variables, issues, candidates image, party identification, the results of comparative analysis between image factor and the factor of political party influencing the choice of a candidate suggested that a sense of oneness with a party was highly related to the choice of the candidates of the party, however, candidates' image was not related to the decision of a candidate. Political party had more impact on for whom to vote than candidates' image in this study.
