Content Analysis of Dibrary Portal Services (디브러리 포털서비스 콘텐츠 분석)

  • Due to changes in information technology and the information environment, portal services, including library service, which systematically provides information needed on the Internet have become popular in our daily lives. In light of that, this study, in order to enhance our understanding on portal services, examines and analyzes Dibrary, the National Digital Lirary, portal services including main portal, regional information, policy information, multicultural information, the information for the handicapped, and the Dibrary blogs. Accordingly, the emphasis has been put on decency, accuracy, usefulness/user-friendliness, and publicity/promotion for the diffusion and activation of Dibrary portal services.

  • 최근 우리 사회에도 다문화가정이 증가하고 있다. 만약 부모가 한국어에 익숙하지 않다면, 그 자녀들도 유아기 한글 학습에 지장을 받을 수 있다. 이에 따라 다문화가정 유아의 특성을 반영한 한글교육 프로그램이 필요하다. 본 연구는 그 초기 단계의 연구 결과물을 담고 있다. 즉, 학습 콘텐츠 개발자-서버 관리자-학습자를 위한 시스템을 설계하였고, 지금까지 개발된 한글쓰기 교육용 앱의 초기 버전을 개발 완료하였다.

  • 한국 사회는 빠르게 다문화 사회로 진입되고 있어 인구 구성과 집단이 다양해 질것으로 전망하고 있다. 다양한 형태의 가족 중 중도입국 청소년들의 비율이 점점 증가하고 있다. 대부분의 중도입국 청소년들은 준비가 전혀 이루어진 않은 상태에서 우리나라에 입국하는 실정이므로 언어장벽에서 진로장벽에 이르기 까지 매우 취약한 여건과 불안정한 환경에 처해 있는 것이다. 이를 해결하는 방안으로 국가나 지방자치단체는 물론 각급 교육기관에서 다양한 프로그램으로 서비스가 지원되고 있으나 사업 간의 중복성과 일부 비효율적인 전달체계와 운영, 예산과 인력 낭비로 인하여 효과성을 낮추는 경향이 있다. 본 논문에서는 중도입국 청소년들의 발달주기, 학령주기, 한국어 구사 능력에 따라 개인의 능력에 따른 맞춤형 언어교육으로 올바르게 성장하도록 도움을 주는 방안을 제시한다. 제시한 내용은 이중언어 교육방법과 발도르프 교육 프로그램을 준용한 교수-학습 방안이다.

Components of Cultural Competency for Multicultural Services Librarians (다문화서비스 담당사서에게 요구되는 문화적 역량의 내용체계에 관한 연구)

  • The diversification of Korean society with a large influx of migrant workers, international marriages, and international students calls for an attention to the importance of cultural competence of Library and Information Science sector in order to respond effectively and appropriately to the needs of immigrants who have diverse cultural backgrounds. In regard to these circumstances, this study is designed to develop the components of cultural competency needed by librarians. For this, this study collected its data through literatures review and interviews with librarians who are implementing services for immigrants in multicultural libraries and with experts who have experienced researches based multicultural services or involved with the management of multicultural families and migrant workers. As a result, the cultural competency components emerging from literatures review and interviews were divided into three parts ; multicultural attitude, multicultural knowledge and multicultural skills. And detailed components of three parts of cultural competency were specifically multicultural attitude, knowledge of multicultural groups, knowledge of multicultural services, development of collections, programs, and services, service delivery, language diversity, and professional education and workforce diversity.

A Study on Multicultural Library Services through the Public Library Homepage (공공도서관 홈페이지를 통한 다문화 서비스에 대한 연구)

  • The world has rapidly become culturally diverse, and Korea has gradually grown into a multicultural society, mainly due to marriage immigrants and foreign laborers, whose number exceeds over one million nationally. Their adjustment and acculturation in Korea, however, dose'nt seem painless and untroubled, and public libraries are in duty to provide multicultural service for these population. Providing useful services on the homepage makes it possible for users to find the information they need without having to visit the actual library. A more detailed research will be conducted by examining the multicultural services provided by the public libraries in Australia, Canada, the United States, and Japan, the leading multicultural societies. The further examination will be conducted on these libraries in terms of four aspects, that is, information, literacy, education, and culture, as declared by Public Library Menifesto. In Korea, translation and interpretation services, homework help, child literacy are necessary services at the public library, Management of independent multicultural site, shared services between Regional Central Library and Community Public Library, cooperation with libraries, government and organization will be helpful to multicultural library services.

Multicultural Policy Implications Derived for the Multicultural Children's Cognitive Abilities and Autonomy about an Empirical Analysis (다문화정책의 시사점 도출을 위한 다문화가정아동의 능력지각과 자율성에 관한 실증적 분석)

  • This study perceived multicultural children's ability to look at the impact of autonomy in the multicultural families to derive policy implications using SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 19.0 empirical analysis. To this end, in the area of A metrocity and Y city targeting elementary school autonomy on the final survey data were analyzed. The results of this study revealed the following: First, multicultural children's social skills and self-perceived ability to influence the psychological wellbeing of the two perceptual effects were. Second, multicultural children's psychological well affect its autonomy was found to be third, multicultural children's social skills and self-perceived ability to influence the perception of autonomy was the effect. As a result, the empirical analysis The results obtained by the analysis of the independent variable perceived social skills and personal skills perceived to affect the psychological wellbeing of the dependent variable autonomy also appeared to affect the result of these two effects through causal multicultural that is meaningful to the child's ability to assume that perception were found.

Related Factors of Problem Behaviors among Students of Multicultural Family in Korea: A Systematic Review (한국 다문화 가정 학생의 문제행동 관련 요인에 관한 체계적 문헌고찰)

  • This study was conducted to review the literature and examine the factors related to problem behaviors among students of multicultural families in Korea. A systematic review of the literature was conducted using domestic documents retrieved through July 4, 2018 based on online searches of domestic databases (the Research Information Sharing Service, Korean Studies Information Service System and the National Diet Library). A total of 2,084 studies were searched, and 21 studies were used for analysis. The factors related to problem behaviors were related to individual factors (gender, school record, self-esteem, etc.), family factors (family type, parent support, mothers' enculturation stress, etc.) and environmental factors (friend support, teacher support, social support). The variables measured the problem behaviors among students of multicultural families were school life adjustment (10), psychological, social adjustment or maladjustment (4), and emotional problem behavior (3). Overall, the results indicate that social and policy efforts are needed to improve individual, family, and environmental factors based on more specific and consistent theoretical definitions related to problem behaviors among students of multicultural families in Korea.

Mothers' Attitude on Child-Rearing and Sensory Processing Ability of their Children in Ordinary Multi-cultural Families (다문화와 일반 가정의 어머니의 양육태도 및 아동의 감각처리능력 비교)

  • Objective : The purpose of the study is to investigate and compare multi-cultural families in terms of mother' s attitude on child-rearing and their children's sensory processing ability. Methods : 19 multi-cultural families and 38 ordinary families were investigated and all the targeted families had children aged 3 to 7 years. Data were collected by a questionnaire asking general characteristics of mother-child; mother's attitude on rearing; and child's sensory processing ability, the Korean-translated version of Short Sensory Profile [SSP], and the Mother nurturing attitude. Data analysis has been done by Descriptive Statistics for subject characteristics and by Mean-Whitney U test for comparison between multi-cultural family group and ordinary family group. Results : There are significant differences between the two family groups in terms of the rearing attitude, especially in sub-item 'refusing(p=.000)'and 'autonomous(p=.000)'. Result of the SSP also indicate significant differences between the two groups in total score(p=.002) and sub-items such as taste/smell sensitivity(p=.004), movement sensitivity(p=.021), underresponsive/seeks sensation(p=.010), auditory filtering(p=.016), low energy/weak(p=.003), visual/auditory sensitivity(p=.029). Conclusion : The results of this study well describe differences between multi-cultural families and ordinary families in maternal child-rearing attitude and sensory processing ability of the children. It is suggested to collect data regarding adaptation of multi-cultural families and their child development through more profound qualitative studies in further.

Effects of Ego-Resilience, Family Function and Acculturative Stress on Mental Health of the Youth of Multicultural Families (다문화가정 청소년의 자아탄력성과 가족기능, 문화적응 스트레스가 정신건강에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the effect of ego-resilience, function of family, stress of adapting to a new culture perceived by youth from multi-cultural families at Gyeonggi-do on their mental health. In doing so, the study sought to suggest effective supportive visits to enhance their mental health. For this, the study carried out a descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way anova, hierarchical regression analysis among 304 middle schoolers from multi-cultural families living at Gyeonggi-do. The study found following results. The higher youth from multi-cultural family perceived the procedural stress, sub-variable of stress of adapting to a new culture and the lower they perceived emotional control, sub-variable of ego-resilience, the higher depression and anxiety they experienced, resulting in worsening of their mental health state. Based on these findings, the study, in order to enhance the mental health of youth from multi-cultural family and their ego-resilience, discussed and suggested development of psychological/emotional programs, preparation of supportive measures to overcome their stress in the course of their cultural adaptation as well as systematic supplementation of related laws in support of multi-cultural families.

The Multicultural Competency of Childcare Teachers for the Fusion Age Impact on Organizational Effectiveness (융합시대를 위한 보육교사의 다문화역량이 조직효과성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of multicultural competence on the organizational effectiveness of daycare teachers and to provide basic data to improve organizational effectiveness of daycare facilities. To achieve this goal, 258 childcare teachers attending C university were sampled for convenience and statistical processing was performed using PASW. First, there was a positive correlation between organizational productivity, organizational adaptability, and job satisfaction in the relationship between multicultural knowledge and organizational productivity, organizational adaptability, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. second. The relationship between multicultural awareness and organizational productivity, organizational adaptability, and organizational commitment were all statistically correlated. Third, multicultural knowledge and multicultural awareness have positive effects on organizational commitment, organizational adaptability, and organizational productivity. Fourth, multicultural knowledge has a positive effect on job satisfaction. Therefore, in order to improve organizational effectiveness of day care facilities in the era of convergence, education programs related to multicultural knowledge and multicultural awareness are needed for daycare teachers.
