This study is part of app development research based on user centered design which targets silver generation learners. The mathematical contents provided by Senior math application focus on Numeracy issues. In order to finalize the user interface and the mathematical contents which is for developing the mathematic application, teaching experiment was carried out through 9 senior learners. Also CIPP program evaluation model was used for monitoring the result of this teaching experiment. Factors such as 'educational objectives' 'requirement analysis' 'educational environment' 'curriculum' 'learning content' 'learning matter' 'interaction' 'program administration' 'supporting environment' 'satisfaction' 'study result' 'substantiality of learning' were checked and as a result the Senior Mathematic application was developed through these feedbacks.
The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of education for welldying on the death anxiety and death reception of care workers who were most closely linked to death among workers who were engaged in senior welfare. It's basically meant to let care workers have a good understanding of death, death process and death-related factors to help elderly people close their life in a comfortable manner. The subjects in this study were the care workers who worked in J nursing home in the region of Gwangju. They received education in nine sessions, once a week, and the collected data were analyzed by the statistical package 15.0. The statistical analysis methods used in this study were reliability analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, t-test and ANOVA. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the welldying program participants showed a decrease in death anxiety. Second, the welldying program participants became more receptive to death.
This study aimed to identify the effects of death education programs among Korean aged on death anxiety and attitudes toward death in the convergence era. The searched kew words were included aged, death education program, death anxiety, and attitudes to death in the research papers published in Korea. Finally, 11 studies were selected and the effect size was calculated. Death anxiety and death attitude were selected as dependent variables, and publication type, total duration of intervention, and frequency of intervention were selected as moderator variables. The total of 11 papers were selected to estimate the effect sizes of interventions. As a result, the overall effect size of the death education program for the aged was 1.07. The overall effect size showed death education program was able to lower death anxiety (Hedges' g=1.30, 95% Cl=0.80~1.80, p<.01) and improve attitudes to death (Hedges' g=0.93, 95% Cl=0.49~1.37, p<.01) compared with the no intervention group. In the moderator analysis to identify the cause of heterogeneity, significant results were found in the frequency of intervention. We propose a study that repeatedly verifies the effect of related studies in the future by providing the theoretical basis and basic data for the development of the death education program.
The purpose of this survey was to evaluate the efficiency on the oral health training of elderly adults who have experienced the oral health training program at welfare institutions in An-yang city, Korea. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect on knowledge, attitude and volition of DNR after implementing the educational program of withdrawing life sustaining treatment to elderly people. The subjects for this study were healthy elders over 65 year-old at J elderly center located at S city, Korea. Data were gathered from October 2 to November 9, 2012. Participants were randomly assigned to either experimental or control group. For the experimental group, a 50 minute educational program on withdrawing life-sustaining treatment program was delivered twice a week for 3 weeks, and the control group did not receive any education. DNR knowledge (F=4.158;p=.049), DNR attitude (F=39.60; p=.001) were higher in experimental group compare to control group. Changes in number of participants who were determined to choose DNR for themselves (p=.006), for spouse (p=.039) and for parents (p=.006) were significantly higher in experimental group compared to control group. The program was effective in changing participant's knowledge, attitude and volition toward DNR and this program can be utilized to guide the decision making process of DNR for elderly.
This study aimed to assess the factors affecting the level of happiness and a sense of happiness among senior men and women, including sociodemographic characteristics, health behavior, subjective health level, and healthcare utilization, using the 2017 Community Health Survey (CHS). A total of 67,835 older adults were enrolled for the study, 27,979 males and 39,856 females. The results showed that education level and total household income affected the happiness in female elderly, while having a spouse increased happiness in male elderly. In addition, both male elderly and female felt a great of happiness when they had good health behaviors, perceived themselves to be in good health, and had no restrictions with healthcare utilization. Subjective health status and healthcare utilization seem to have a substantial impact on happiness because older adulthood is a period marked with increased physical vulnerability compared to other age groups due to diminished physiological functions. Based on these results, the government should expand subsidies for welfare for the aged to provide lifelong education opportunities and the existing elderly education and programs in health-related organizations should reflect the characteristics of the elderly. Furthermore, social service systems and programs related to the elderly should be re-evaluated so as to develop services and programs tailored to the elderly to promote their happiness more effectively.
