The Development Strategy for the Aquaculture of Marine Fishes in Korea (해산어류양식업 발전 전략에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to suggest strategies for the aquaculture of marine fishes in Korea through the analysis of current domestic states and case studies of the advanced countries to enhance the competitiveness of the industry. To reveal the current state, a questionnaire study to the producers was carried out, and cases in Norway, China, Japan, USA were analysed in terms of national development strategies. From those analyses, 3 strategies for the improvement of the competitive edge in the industry were induced as followings. First, it is necessary to implement restructuring such as upsizing through consolidation of small units, networking, etc. Second, it is required to introduce the state-of-the-art technology with the newly-designed equipments to save energy and cost in the operation. Third, it is also required to implement programs to select the national strategic species and concentrate R&D resources on the selected ones.

Effects of Social Support and Self-Regulation on Job Stress: Focused on Personal Assistants for the Disabled (사회적 지지와 자기조절이 직무스트레스에 미치는 영향: 활동보조인을 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to investigate the moderating effect of self-regulation on the impact of social support on job stress, by focusing on the relationship between these three variables in terms of their effects of on personal assistants for the disabled. We surveyed 330 personal assistants for the disabled and asked them what they thought about social support, self-regulation, and job stress. Among them, a total of 276 subjects were included in the analysis. Moderated multiple regression (MMS) through the simultaneous-entry method was employed for the analysis using SPSS (PASW) 18.0 and PROCESS Macro for SPSS. The main results were as follows. First, social support and self-regulation contributed to the decrease in job stress. Second, self-regulation turned out to have a moderating effect on the relationship between social support and job stress, and enhanced the effect of social support on the decrease of job stress. Lastly, the implications and limitations of this study, as well as suggestions for future research, are discussed. This study suggests that besides external resources such as social support, internal resources such as self-regulation are necessary in order to manage job stress in the field of personal assistance services for the disabled.

Validity and Reliability of a Korean Version of the Trier Inventory for Chronic Stress (한국어판 축약형 순간 스트레스 측정 도구(Trier Inventory for Chronic Stress: TICS)의 타당도 및 신뢰도 평가)

  • Ecological momentary assessment (EMA) is a method that captures the current experience and behavior of subjects in real time in a natural environment. The data collected by EMA reveals alterations according to the time and context of experience and action. The Trier Inventory for Chronic Stress (TICS) is a tool that measures momentary stress, and is capable of measuring stress experienced in real life. This study was undertaken to verify the validity and reliability after translating the short form TICS into a Korean version. Totally, 89 police officers working at the police station in the capital participated in this study. The mobile application developed for this study was installed on their smartphones, and data were collected four times a day for seven consecutive days. Confirmatory factor analysis and content validity index (CVI) was applied to test the validity, and concurrent validity was evaluated by correlating with the occupational stress score. The model was validated by confirmatory factor analysis, and we obtained good reliabilities (I-CVI=0.83-1, RMSEA=0.104, SRMR=0.104, CFI=0.948, TLI=0.919, Cronbach's alpha=0.839). Our findings indicate the reliability, and validate use of the Korean tool for measuring momentary stress.

Validation of the Need for Closure Scale-Short Form (단축형 종결 욕구의 타당화)

  • The purpose of the present study was to validate the Need for Closure Scale-Short Form (NFCS-SF), which measures the need for cognitive closure. Participants completed questionnaires regarding need for cognitive closure, intolerance of uncertainty, depression, and anxiety. Of the 536 data collected between May and July 2017, data from a total of 495 participants were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and M-Plus. The results of the study are as follows. First, a 15-item selection comprised three items from each facet scale via exploratory factor analysis. Second, the NFCS-SF demonstrated good internal consistency (Study 1, Cronbach's α=.85; Study 2, Cronbach's α=.84). Third, the results of the confirmatory factor analyses supported a 5-factor model (χ2(80)=178.34, p<.001; CFI=.87, TLI=.83, RMSEA=.07, SRMR=.08). Fourth, the NFCS-SF showed significant correlation with the measures of intolerance of uncertainty (r=.58, p<.01), depression (r=.16, p<.05), and anxiety (state anxiety, r=.31, p<.01; trait anxiety, r=.29, as well as the NFCS (r=.86, p<.01). Based on these findings, significance and limitations of the results as well as suggestions for further study are discussed.

Ramp Activity Expert System for Scheduling and Co-ordination (공항의 계류장 관리 스케줄링 및 조정을 위한 전문가시스템)

  • In this paper, we have described the Ramp Activity Coordination Expert System (RACES) which can solve aircraft parking problems. RACES includes a knowledge-based scheduling problem which assigns every daily arriving and departing flight to the gates and remote spots with the domain specific knowledge and heuristics acquired from human experts. RACES processes complex scheduling problem such as dynamic inter-relations among the characteristics of remote spots/gates and aircraft with various other constraints, for example, custome and ground handling factors at an airport. By user-driven modeling for end users and knowledge-driven near optimal scheduling acquired from human experts, RACES can produce parking schedules of aircraft in about 20 seconds for about 400 daily flights, whereas it normally takes about 4 to 5 hours by human experts. Scheduling results in the form of Gantt charts produced by the RACES are also accepted by the domain experts. RACES is also designed to deal with the partial adjustment of the schedule when unexpected events occur. After daily scheduling is completed, the messages for aircraft changes and delay messages are reflected and updated into the schedule according to the knowledge of the domain experts. By analyzing the knowledge model of the domain expert, the reactive scheduling steps are effectively represented as rules and the scenarios of the Graphic User Interfaces (GUI) are designed. Since the modification of the aircraft dispositions such as aircraft changes and cancellations of flights are reflected to the current schedule, the modification should be notified to RACES from the mainframe for the reactive scheduling. The adjustments of the schedule are made semi-automatically by RACES since there are many irregularities in dealing with the partial rescheduling.

Effects of Postharvest Heat Treatment on Alleviation Chilling Injury and Improvement Storability of Oriental Melon (수확 후 고온처리가 참외의 저온장해 완화와 저장성 향상에 미치는 영향)

  • Oriental melons hold at $38^{\circ}C$ for 48 hours before storage increased their soluble solid, titratable acidity, vitamin C contents and ${\alpha}$-tocopherol activity. These heat treated oriental melons maintained lower production of carbon dioxide, ethylene and acetaldehyde and loss of fresh weight than untreated them, called control, during $3^{\circ}C$ MA storage. After 39 days in storage, the last day of storage, visual quality and internal quality, such as firmness, soluble solid, titratable acidity, vitamin C and ${\alpha}$-tocopherol activity, showed higher in heat treated oriental melons. Especially, Ion leakage of flesh, index of chilling injury, increased remarkably in control, so that heat treatment had to alleviate chilling injury in oriental melon. Moreover, while Alternaria rot was shown in control plot after 25 days in $3^{\circ}C$ MA storage, oriental melons treated heat were not appeared any decomposition after 39 days in $3^{\circ}C$ MA storage. As storage life of oriental melon was calculated by regression equation between visual quality and days in storage, that was longer 8 days in heat treated than control. Consequently, heat treatment that was mild, $38^{\circ}C$ and long period, 48 hours, executed before storage, sterilized surface alleviated chilling injury and lengthened storage life in oriental melons.

The Conceptual Structure of Intellectual Capital in Fashion Companies (패션기업의 지적자본 개념구조)

  • The objective of this study is to find out the construct of intellectual capital in a fashion company. To this end, the mixed research methods that combined qualitative and quantitative approaches were conducted. Qualitative research was first conducted by in-depth interviews with 16 experts working in the fashion industry, and a questionnaire was then given to 121 fashion companies in order to fulfill the quantitative research portion of this study. The findings of this study are as follows: First, the conceptual structure of intellectual capital in a fashion company was revealed. A fashion company's intellectual capital is composed of 'human capital', 'structural capital', and 'relational capital'. Human capital has three components: a chief executive officer (CEO), members, and a human resource management capability. Structural capital has four components: organizational culture, information management capability, merchandising capability, and product innovation capability. Relational capital has three components: customer equity, marketing capability, and relationship management capability. Second, the conceptual structure of intellectual capital was confirmed via quantitative research analysis. All of the components of intellectual capital have internal consistency, convergent validity, construct validity, and discriminant validity.

Adaptation Experiences of Male Students in the Department of Nursing (간호학과 남학생들의 학과 적응 경험)

  • The main purpose of this study is to provide the necessary information for educational intervention by discovering the components and factors related to the adaptation experience of male students in the department of nursing. The participants were seven male nursing students. Data were collected from in-depth interviews, and the results were analyzed by the Giorgi's phenomenological analysis method. The main components of adaptation experience of participants were summarized into four categories: 'hopes and expectations for the future careers,' 'conflicts and wandering under realistic issues,' 'compromise and emotion management,' and 'efforts for self-growth.' Causative, accelerative, and recursive characteristics were shown among these components. The adaptation process was structured in the temporal context. The results suggest that for amicable adaptation, internal controls, such as 'improving willpower,' 'inspiring solid career awareness,' and 'selecting adaptation strategy' were all critical. Moreover, the support of families, relatives, college seniors, and department professors were revealed as the factors that help in the adaptation experiences. Based on the results, further studies are required to identify the dropout rates by maladaptation of male nursing students, and analyze possible factors that contribute to dropout and maladaptation. In addition, it is necessary to construct various coping methods and practical support systems, as well as to develop appropriate educational programs.

A Study on the Relationship between the Self-Leadership and the Level of Career Maturity of the Fostered Adolescents at Youth Shelter : Mediating effect of Career Decision Self-Efficacy (시설보호 청소년의 셀프리더십과 진로성숙도의 관계: 진로결정 자기효능감의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The study was carried out by surveying 500 fostered teenagers at youth shelters in the Capital area via onsite visit over about three weeks from April 17 to May 10, 2018; 487 samples out of 500 questioned subjects were used for the final analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, the career decision self-efficacy was verified to have a partial mediating effect between all of self-leadership variables and the career maturity of the fostered adolescents at youth shelters. Second, the career decision self-efficacy was verified to have a partial mediating effect between the action-oriented strategy, which is one of the self-leadership variables, and the career maturity of the fostered adolescents at youth shelters. Third, the career decision self-efficacy was verified to have a partial mediating effect between the natural compensation strategy, which is one of the self-leadership variables, and the career maturity of the fostered adolescents at youth shelters. Fourth, the career decision self-efficacy was verified to have a full mediating effect between the constructive thinking strategy, which is one of the self-leadership variables, and the career maturity of the fostered adolescents at youth shelters.

Reliability and Validity of Korean Version of the Nurse-Patient Interaction Scale (한국판 간호사-환자 상호작용 측정도구의 신뢰도 및 타당도 검증)

  • This study examined the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Nurse-Patient Interaction Scale (K-NPIS) for the elderly, at long-term care hospitals in Korea. The original NPIS was developed to identify important characteristics of elderly patient experiences regarding nurse-patient interactions in nursing homes. Totally, 202 hospitalized elderly patients at 4 long-term hospitals in Jinju-si, Suncheon-si, and Namwon-si, were enrolled in the study and completed the questionnaire. For internal consistency, Cronbach's α of K-NPIS was 0.96 after item analysis. K-NPIS was validated using the confirmatory factor analysis and content validity. The content validity score was more than 0.80, establishing the appropriateness and readiness of the tool through group discussions between clinical experts and elderly patients. The K-NPIS is a 10-point scale comprising 12 questions. K-NPIS scores between different residential groups were significantly different, and showed no ceiling or floor effect. The internal consistency reliability, construct validity, and discriminative validity of K-NPIS was adequate. However, criterion validity requires further examination. Our findings suggest that K-NPIS serves as an appropriate measure of nurse-patient interaction when applying the nursing care intervention for elderly.
