  • The purpose of this study is to investigate factors influencing the severity of non-suicidal self-injury in an adult community sample. Participants with recent and repeated NSSI(N=54) completed self-reported questionnaire assessing frequency, method, and motivation of self-injury and the emotional regulation of cognitive reappraisal. Results indicated that intrapersonal motivations were endorsed more than interpersonal motivations, and were significantly related with NSSI severity. Also earlier onset was significantly related to NSSI severity. These findings support the emotional regulation model of NSSI and highlight the importance of intervention focusing on emotional regulations.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate motivation to learn physics in order to understand engineering college students' physics learning. Therefore, in this study, 374 engineering students at the university located in Seoul were studied using the Physics Motivation Questionnaire (PMQ), which was a Science Motivation Questionnaire II modified into the context of learning physics. The PMQ is composed of five factors: intrinsic motivation, career motivation, self-determination, self-efficacy, and grade motivation. It involves 25 Likert scale items. Through exploratory factor analysis, PMQ confirms that the five factors are structurally valid in measuring the motivation of engineering students to learn physics. In addition, item fit (MNSQ) was also confirmed using a Rasch model analysis. The results show that grade motivation has the highest mean with 4.2, followed by job motivation mean with 3.76. The mean of intrinsic motivation was 3.42, the self-efficacy was 3.38, and self-determination was 3.32. The results of this study confirm that the physics learning motivation of engineering college students is characterized showing high external motivation related to job and grade. Therefore, we should try to develop the teaching strategy to increase intrinsic motivation by developing mastery goal orientation of physics learning for engineering students.

  • The object of this study was to develop an index of service quality of waterparks and verify the validity and reliability of the index. This study represents the waterparks user population in 2009, and 250 people were extracted by using the purposive sampling method. In other words, five locations have major waterparks were chosen and 50 people per each location were collected. Conference, panel survey, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed to verify the validity of the questionnaire while item analysis, interrater reliability and internal consistency reliability were conducted to probate the reliability. Through these methods and procedures, the results of this study like these; (i) Validity of this index was significantly high and the index include amenity/cleanness, safety, price, programs, facilities, accessibility and promotion. Among them, amenity/cleanness was the major factor for the validity value; (ii) Reliability of this index was also high. There are high correlations between questions and fields and questions and total score. And the Cronbach's $\alpha$ values of the internal consistency reliability was over 0.603 except in the case of promotion which was below 0.6. After all the analysis, the index of service quality proved to be very proper and reliable index. Therefore, the major factors of service quality have to be figured out and reflected to the management innovation to improve service quality of waterparks.

  • This study is aimed at validation of the Korean Version of the Perfectionism Inventory which was developed by Hill et al.(2004). To do so, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis with 167 science high school and 161 middle school gifted students were conducted. It appeared 6 factor structure consisting of 'Self-Evaluative Perfection Strivings', 'Parental Pressure', 'Planfulness', 'Striving for Excellence', 'High Standards for Others', and 'Organization', which does not support 8 factor of the original scale. As a result, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ ranged from .78 to .92 for subscale of PI and .93 for the total scale. The fit of measurement model was found to be ${\chi}^2=1257.618$ (df=792, p=.00), TLI=.903, CFI=.911, RMSEA=.047, indicating most of fit indexes were acceptable. Also, the validity of the scale was examined by the correlations between the PI and MPS. PI Korean version is significant to confirm the factor structure and validity of perfectionism which was influenced by characteristics of gifted students and Korean culture. These results show that the PI is quite reliable and valid tool for measuring perfectionism for gifted students.
