Development and Evaluation of Teaching.Learning Process Plan with Problem-Based Learning through Book-Making in Middle School Home Economics (책만들기를 활용한 문제중심학습 중학교 가정과 교수.학습 과정안 개발 및 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop teaching learning process plans with problem-based learning using book-making applying to the "Dressing and Self Expression" unit and evaluate its effect in middle school home economics for first grade. We developed teaching learning process plans with problem-based learning using book-making including 9 teaching materials for teachers and 15 learning materials for students. Further, we conducted and investigated pre- and post-tests in a form of questionnaires in 167 students from a girls' middle school in Pusan. Teaching learning process plans with problem-based learning using book-making showed positive results in body satisfaction, such as reduction in distortion or less dissatisfaction regarding students' body images. Also, they were found to be less affected by sociocultural attitude towards appearance. The estimation of students included the positive contents that the class was interested with various materials and it provided them with a chance to understand their body. Meanwhile, minor comments pointed out lack of time and complained of the amount of assignments. With these results, we found that teaching learning process plans with problem-based learning using book-making was an appropriate model to achieve the purpose of this study and we suggested that this class might be applied to other units of middle school home economics.

  • This paper is a study on how women consumers purchase are affected by models who appear in advertisements for cosmetics, focusing especially on studies concerning the impact that models have on advertisement strategies of the cosmetic industry in korea. In surveys conducted, consumers responded that cosmetic advertisement models should examplify a expertness and trustworthiness attitude more than just display their own physical attractiveness. The consumers who bought cosmetic products based on its endorsement from particular models responded that they had a positive reaction to the models physical attractiveness and likability while experiencing a negative reaction to the model's expertness and trustworthiness attitude. Women consumers are interested in cosmetic advertisement models, but do not necessarily trust them. Hence, the use of a Particular model does not directly affect the consumers Purchasing decision. Famous stars often appear in cosmetic advertisements in korea, and targeted consumers have a very positive response to their physical attractiveness, familiarity and perceived likability. However, the consumers have a completely negative response to the models in regards to their expertness, trustworthiness, and their sense of similarity with the model.   • Sports has become one way to improve our own health and to enjoy life by changing the lifestyle of modern-day people. Sports athletes not only give pleasure to the public, but also play a role in elevating a nation's reputation through sports. Tennis is popular with the public, and women players receive tennis wear from various sports companies to promote the designs to the public. This study considers the design-related characteristics of women's tennis wear through content analysis of design elements from the tennis wear in four major tournaments over the most recent five years. This is important in order to provide basic data on design directions for tennis wear in the future. The results of this study are as follows. First, the silhouette plays a role in enhancing activity by considering the physical movement of tennis players who are very active. Second, color emphasizes the rules and clarity of traditional tennis tournaments, and reflects a diversified trend in tennis wear by considering smooth game play by players and combining popular colors in the year. Third, patterns and decorations on material are used as a means to emphasize the esthetics of tennis wear, and tape plays an auxiliary role in emphasizing the physical beauty of women or preventing physical movement causing injury. In addition, sponsor logos are generally located at the center of the chest of tennis wear tops by mixing letters and images. This can be interpreted as a part of the marketing strategy to enhance clarity of the sponsor's brand.

  • This study aimed at preventing women from suffering from health problems and stress due to excessive lookism and encouraging them to participate in sports activities to form desirable body image and eventually to live a healthy and sound life. To achieve this goal, this study formed a population with members of sports centers located in Seoul and Daejeon areas as of 2006 and made a sample of 450 participants in physical exercise at a sports center through stratified cluster random sampling and that of 450 non-participants through a survey with mothers and sisters of those students from elementary and secondary schools within the areas for sampling the participants' group, thereby analyzing the data on a total of 900 persons. A questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data; a reliability test presented weight-, health-, and figure-related factors as a=.807, a=.819, and a=.784, respectively. This study used such statistical analysis methods as t-test, One-way ANOVA, and the Analysis of Covariance to analyze data. This study produced the following conclusions through these research methods and procedure. Pticipation in physical exercise has a positive effect on body image. Pticipation in physical exercise at a sports center show higher satisfaction with body image than non-participats.

A study on the self-concept and the appearance management behavior in middle school students' (중학생의 자아개념과 외모관리행동 연구)

  • This study focuses on the differences in general self-concept, academic self-concept, significant others self-concept and emotional-physical self-concept in relation to appearance management behavior. It goes on to show that appearance management behaviors such as styles in clothing, makeup, skin care, hair care, cosmetic surgery and body shaping, weight control management are strongly influenced by self-concept. Therefore, this study was carried out with the aim of providing basic understanding and information on the appearance management behavior of middle school students. It was also done in an effort to find ways of improving the self-concept of students through education as a part of the domestic science curriculum. The results obtained in this study are as follows: On average, the middle school students who took part in this study showed low self-concept and appearance management behavior which indicates a negative image of themselves. This suggests that efforts need to be made so that students can see themselves in a positive way and improve their self-concept through appearance management behavior. Middle school students with a positive self-concept try to present themselves by keeping their skin clean and their hair attractive. They express their self-esteem and personality through fashion and by keeping and maintaining their clothing, shoes and bags. They also tend to show a positive attitude towards their studies and are more likely to understand and get along with others. The students who showed positive attitudes towards their bodies and emotions have a higher interest in clothing and try to express the image that they want for themselves. They are also less likely to change their bodies unnaturally through cosmetic surgery and body shaping. Appropriate appearance management behavior can help middle school students see themselves in a more positive way.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the body size perception and appearance management behaviors of middle school boys and girls. Subjects of this study were 7 coeducational middle school boys and girls in Gwangju and 435 responses were collected from real body measurement and questionnaires. SPSS package 12.0(Kr) was used to analyze results. The results were summarized as follows: First, middle school boys and girls tended to perceive their bodies slimmer as well as obeser. It is recommended to give education for correct perception of their body sire. Second, the correlation of body size perception factor and appearance management behavior was Middle school boys and girls tended to manage their appearance using a diet rather than doing exercise in obesity distortion perception group(the group perceive obeser than real body size). It needs to be properly guided. Third, the appearance management behavior of slimness distortion perception group(the group perceive slimmer than real body size) and normal group was examined. While middle school boys did only exercise management, middle school girls did all but exercise management. Their education should be distinguished. Finally, while slimness distortion perception group did diet management in both middle school boys and girls, they tended not to manage body correction or exercise. A tendency to depend only on a diet in the group who should perceive their need of exercise should be corrected. In order to correct the distorted body perception and appearance management behavior of middle school boys and girls, it is recommended to educate a standard body size through home management education which is a regular curriculum, and at the same time to guide them to perceive their actual body size correct.

  • The change in the demand and perception of wigs worn for hair loss is getting better, but hair extension is emerging as a new treatment method that improves as there are inconvenient areas such as hair loss, bleaching, and tangling of wigs themselves, and time spent on unnatural hair styling and wearing wigs. The purpose of this study is to verify that the quality of life of middle-aged female hair loss is positively affected by hair growth techniques that weave wool strands into their hair. Those surveyed were middle-aged women with hair loss and were analyzed by measuring the quality of life before and after hair growth. The analysis showed that hair increased techniques affects the economic satisfaction, physical satisfaction, mental satisfaction and social satisfaction of middle-aged women with hair loss, indicating that hair increased techniques is effective in improving the quality of life for middle-aged women with hair loss. It is also expected that the beauty industry will develop high value through hair increased techniques, a blue ocean in the beauty market.

Analyzing the Type of Recognition for College Students' Department Jumpers

  • In this study, Q methodology was applied to investigate the subjective evaluation of department jumpers and characteristics of each type of recognition for college students. As a result of analyzing, they were classified into three types. Type 1 was recognized that the department jumper plays a role of giving a sense of belonging to the department and promoting the department. In addition, it was analyzed that wearing a department jumper would be cautious, but the activities were comfortable and people around me gave good evaluations and thought it had the effect of enhancing my confidence. In the case of type 2, the department jumper was satisfied because it was an easy-to-work and non-fashionable design, and was always worn when going to university. Type 3 was a type that gives a sense of belonging when wearing the department jumper, and that it was good for the department jumper to follow the fashion. It is thought that a department jumper with a good fit should be developed by reflecting the physical characteristics, showing the image or symbolism, so that the department jumper of college students can function as a uniform.

Contents Analysis on the Media about the Working Conditions of Nurses

  • This study was attempted to identify the working environment of nurses by identifying the key keywords associated with the unfair working conditions of Korean nurses reported in various media outlets in the media. "Nurse NOT (nurse) or nurse" was searched on BIG KINDS, selected articles related to the unfair treatment of nurses, extracted the final 309 cases, and classified into six categories of hospital-level, regional, keyword, and integrated keywords in the article using Excel2007. Of the 309 articles, 79 (22.56 percent) were published from November 2015 to October 31, 2016, 92 (29.77 percent) from third medical institutions, and 121 (39.1 percent) from across the country. The integrated keywords were summarized into a total of 14, followed by sexual assault/sexual harassment (14.88%), shortage of nurses (11.65%), burning nurses (11.0%), unfair dismissal (10.67%) and physical assault (10.35%). The findings could be used as basic data for establishing a positive working environment for nurses and improving positive image awareness of nursing professionals.
