Glint Reconstruction Algorithm Using Homography in Gaze Tracking System (시선 추적 시스템에서의 호모그래피를 이용한 글린트 복원 알고리즘)

  • Remote gaze tracking system calculates the gaze from captured images that reflect infra-red LEDs in cornea. Glint is the point that reflect infra-red LEDs to cornea. Recently, remote gaze tracking system uses a number of IR-LEDs to make the system less prone to head movement and eliminate calibration procedure. However, in some cases, some of glints are unable to spot. In this case, it is impossible to calculate gaze. This study examines patterns of glints that are difficult to detect in remote gaze tracking system. Afterward, we propose an algorithm to reconstruct positions of missing glints that are difficult to detect using other detected glints. Based on this algorithm, we increased the number of valid image frames in gaze tracking experiments, and reduce errors of gaze tracking results by correcting glint's distortion in the reconstruction phase.

  • In a target tracking problem the radar glint noise has non-Gaussian heavy-tailed distribution and will seriously affect the target tracking performance. In most nonlinear situations an Extended Robust Kalman Filter(ERKF) can yield acceptable performance as long as the noises are white Gaussian. However, an Extended Robust $H_{\infty}$ Filter (ERHF) can yield acceptable performance when the noises are Laplacian. In this paper, we use the Interacting Multiple Model(IMM) estimator for the problem of target tracking with glint noise. In the IMM method, two filters(ERKF and ERHF) are used in parallel to estimate the state. Computer simulations of a real target tracking shows that hybrid filter used the IMM algorithm has superior performance than a single type filter.

Measurement and Analysis for Radar Glint Effect of Maritime Target (해상표적에 대한 레이더 Glint 영향 측정 및 분석)

  • In this paper, the glint effect of maritime target to a radar system was analyzed by simulation and field test with a barge and corner reflectors. From the experiment, we proposed a glint measurement method of a real maritime target and it was indicated that the glint effect between the simulation results and real measurement is similar. Also it was founded that the glint effect is related to the relative amount of RCS(Radar Cross Section) difference among major scattering point and minor scattering points. Finally, the experiment showed the glint effects of the rotating barge with some different combinations of scattering points.

  • In a target tracking problem, the radar glint noise has non-Gaussian heavy-tailed distribution and will seriously affect the target tracking performance. In this study, an extended robust $H_{\infty}$ was developed which can significantly improve the tracking performance when glint noise is present. Through the computer simulations, the proposed filter showed superior and robust tracking performance compared with other extended Kalman filters.

  • In remote gaze tracking system using infra-red LEDs, calibrating the position of reflected light is essential for computing pupil position in captured images. However, there are limitations in reducing errors because variable locations of head and unknown radius of cornea are involved in the calibration process as constants. This study purposes a gaze tracking method based on pupil-corneal reflection that does not require user-calibration. Our goal is to eliminate the correction process of glint positions, which require a prior calibration, so that the gaze calculation is simplified.

  • In general, an error budget of monopulse radar is proposed by manufacturer who assuming that all of external enviromental error resources such as multipath, glint, dynamic lag variation are removed. So until now, a measurement uncertainty of monopulse radar can be discussed including external enviromental error resources. In this paper, it is described that which kinds of error resource can effect on monopulse radar measurement uncertainty for different target property. To prove it experimentally, at first a simulation result is described assuming that all of external enviromental error resources are removed. It only includes receiver thermal noise. And then, monopulse radar measurement uncertainty estimation results tracking on calibration target which is fixed on specific position, calibration sphere which is moving slowly, weapon systems firing test which is moving fast are described quantitativly. All of these targets have different dynamic property.
