There are increasing needs for complex information services for user of cultural heritage institution recently. And the concept of "Larchiveum", merging of functions of libraries, archives and museums, is suggested in United States and researches associated with this concept are progressed on Korean information science. At present, however, the larchiveum has not been materialized, and hence researches focus on theoretical frameworks. Therefore, this study establishes plans for an analysis with planning of institutions that libraries, archives and museums are remodeled into larchiveum. Methodologically, the research processes of existing larchiveum spatial planning are specified. More realistic implementing measures for larchiveum spatial planning are suggested through utilization of related law & guidelines as analysis tools.

This study investigated to describe how the nature of science is revealed in the four natural history museums in Korea. Natural history museums are well considered as informal settings of education, and the nature of science has been one of major topics stressed in science education. Therefore, the revelation of this topic is supposedly reflected in developing museum exhibitions. In each of the four target natural history museum or natural history exhibition, the representative exhibits subtitled by scientific inquiry and cases dealing with history of science were selected for the study. The analyzing exhibits focused on whether exhibitions were labeled with emphasis on declarative description or interpretative one. In analyzing the contents, the focus was on the concerns of scientists, scientific community, social and cultural aspects, uncertainty of scientific knowledge, and providing sufficient evidences. All things considered, it was hard to conclude that every target exhibit clearly considered the nature of science as an essential element, in designing and developing their exhibitions. More deliberate input of nature of science is suggested for worldly renowned natural history museums, because previous researches keep insisting that the nature of science would be more efficiently achieved in an informal educational setting rather than in classrooms.

지난 1998년 우원 콘서시엄(우원, 성아건업, 삼우공조)에게는 잊을 수 없는 행운의 해였다. IMF 이후 침체 일로를 걷고 있던 설비건설업계에 260억원이라는 사상 유례없는 최대금액으로 독립발주된 새국립박물관 기계설비공상 입찰에 국내의 기계설비 제작∙시공업체 21개 콘서시엄이 참여하여 경쟁하였기 때문에 누가 이 공사를 맡게 될 것인가가 초미의 관심사였다. 그런데 우원 컨소시엄이 적격심사 대상으로 선정되었다는소식을 듣게 되었다. 최초인 만큼 주변에서는‘과연 설비 전문건설업체가 무사히 공사를 마칠 수 있겠는가?’하는 우려의 눈초리도 있었다. 따라서 (주)우원을 비롯한 시공업체들은 이러한 우려를 없애기 위해 더욱 열심히 계획하고 실행하고 검토하고자 노력하였다. 공사 초기에는 각각 독립발주된 건축, 전기, 정보통신 분야의 시공자간 대화가 단절되어 어려움도 많았으나 발주처 담당자와 책임감리자들의 중재 노력에 힘입어 시간이 지나면서 공동목표를 인식하고 서로를 이해하면서 성공적으로 공사를 마칠 수 있었다.

Along with research into the latest preservation treatments for items of cultural heritage, studies of the preservation environment and the effect of damage are also increasing. This study conducted comprehensive research into the temperature, humidity, acids, ammonia, reduced sulfur compounds, aldehydes with various ingredients in the exhibition hall, show case, and storage of three type museum. As a result, temperature, humidity, TVOCs, acetaldehyde frequently exceeded the domestic and international standards for a museum preservation environment and indoor air quality. Also, formaldehyde, chloride, and ammonia exceeded the standards intermittently. Temperature, humidity, TVOCs, acetaldehyde were evaluated to be the major influential factors. In order to control the major factors, apart from temperature and humidity, that cause damage in the museum environment, it is deemed necessary to complement this system with an effective air filter or remover.

The Library, Museum and Art Museum are gradually expanding access to cultural contents for general public through the distributed network. However, unlike general contents in cultural contents characteristics most the objects of cultural contents seldom contain the words used for organization and search for information. In addition, it's hard to share or interconnect information between different systems because the names, expressions and meanings are different between metadata elements of various cultural contents. In order to solve this problem, proper organization and management of metadata is vital. In this study, the researcher have comparatively analyzed the data elements of each format based on National Library of Korea, National Museum of Korea, National Museum of Contemporary Art , the metadata formats approached from various aspects in the cultural contents area, the researcher tried to provide the basic materials for integration of cultural contents by securing interoperability of different metadata formats.

Cyber Textbook Museum is created by the Korean Educational Development Institute in part of the project to manage the knowledge and information of Korea to promote understanding of Korean education and its history. The original and full text of textbooks dating from the 1890s to the present have been digitized and arranged for easy access over internet. An exclusive portal site dealing with Korean textbooks and curriculum materials was made to provide not only the directory service of textbooks and curriculums in diverse data classifications, school levels, years/periods and subjects but also the keyword search by searching engine. Users can search the necessary materials easily and systematically over the screen and use all the functions except save, capture and print. The management system for textbook image(DjVu format), search system and DRM(Digital Rights Management) system were developed. Finally, four suggestions are proposed which are related in the aspects of policy, technical, systematic aspects for active and tremendous use of the site.

Science museums are platforms of PUS (public understanding of science). The purpose of this study was to explore the science communicators' competencies critical in interacting with visitors from the comparison of their training and professional development programs nationally and internationally. The managers running science communicators' programs and communicators themselves from six different national science museums and those from five different international ones participated in the structured survey. The data from surveys were compared among respondents to draw common and specific descriptions for communicators' competencies. In addition, the experienced exemplary science communicator, Ms. Park, participated in this study and the data from her observation field notes, her own developed science communicators' manual, and interviews were used to support the result. The contextual model of learning in science museums (Falk, 2006) was used to illustrate science communicators' expertise. National managers and science communicators showed difference in their perception about science communicators' roles, difficulties, and improvement for their competencies. Internationally, the managers and science communicators showed similar perception about communicators' competencies in terms of the contextual model of learning. It is highly suggested that practice-based science communicators' training and professional development programs must be offered on the basis of interaction between experienced and novice communicators as mentors and mentees systems.

대학 및 연구소 도서관의 디지틀 도서관 구축작업이 본격화되고 있다. 국내에 디지틀 도서관 구축을 시작한 대학은 현재 두군데 정도지만, 도입을 고려하고 있거나 준비중인 곳을 따져보면 빠른 시간에 확산될 '열린' 시장이다. 디지틀 도서관은 대학 도서관 뿐 아니라 정부출연연구소, 지방자치단체 등에서도 활용가치가 높다. 또 멀티미디어 데이터까지 처리하므로 VOD, AOD 서비스를 할 수 있는 방송국, 박물관 등에서도 디지틀 도서관 구축은 앞으로 필수적이라 볼 수 있다. 이 분야를 집중 공략하고 있는 시스템통합 및 전문업체들의 구축전략 및 기술현황을 살펴본다.

This study is to analyze the types and management of old maps collected by library and museum in Korea. About 1,200 items of old maps are collected in 39 institutes. This distribution is due to the scatter during late Joseon period through Japanese imperialism period. Half and half of old maps are reserved in museum and library. Atlas of county maps are reserved mainly in Gyujanggak, the National Library of Korea and Library of Korea University There are 10 copies of $\lceil$cheonggu-do(靑邱圖)$\rfloor$ and 25 copies of $\lceil$Daedongyeo-jido(大東輿地圖)$\rfloor$ put in together in all instutes. Forms of those maps in terms of size, picture and place names recorded are different between each other. Methods of management of those maps are different between library and museum. Old maps are treated as rare old books in library, but as traditional old picture in museum. Methods and levels of opening to public of maps are also different in each institute. More serious thing is that there is no specialist in old maps in most institutes.
