  • Recently, as the importance of computational thinking(CT) education, the national curriculums of the world have been revised and the international comparative assessment studies have been conducted to evaluate the CT education effects. In this study, researchers compared and analyzed the achievement standards related to CT in Korean and U.S. curriculum. As a result, the number of CT related achievement standards is 16 in Korean and 21 in American. While Korean deals with more specific achievement standards of 'formulating and analyzing problems', American emphasized 'planning and evaluating solutions'. In terms of 'developing algorithms, programs and interfaces', both of them offer concrete related achievement standards, U.S. curriculum include more diverse and concrete practical achievement statements. The results of this study can be used to suggest improvements in practical aspects as well as contents in future Korean curriculum revision.

  • The 'Informatics' curriculum for middle school revised in 2007 will be applied since 2010 in school. However, it is difficult to utilize directly school setting because educational contents presented in the curriculum are very comprehensive. Therefore, we need to present specific standards and examples to guide teaching and learning and assessment activities in school setting and right comprehension about new revised curriculum. In this study, we developed the achievement and assessment standards for the 'Representation and Management of Information' unit of Informatics curriculum for middle school revised in 2007. And then, we presented sample questions base on achievement and assessment standards we developed. The levels of the achievement unit were set in the small unit level through the understanding and the analysis of the new curriculum. We described the achievement standards from student's viewpoint and the assessment standards divide into three level(high/middle/low).

  • The purpose of this study is to explore which performance verbs are used in the achievement standards of the Korean mathematics curriculum and how to improve them. So, first, we analyzed whether there were differences in the performance verbs included in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum achievement standards by school level. In addition, it was analyzed whether there were differences in the performance verbs included in the mathematics curriculum in Korea and foreign countries. As a result of the analysis, both the frequency and the type of performance verbs included in the achievement standards of the Korean mathematics curriculum decreased as the school level increased. Also, performative verbs such as 'understand' and 'know' were excessively used. Similar tendencies were seen in foreign mathematics curricula, but the frequency and the type of performance verbs were higher than those in Korea, and various performance verbs were used. As a result of the study, it is suggested that performance verbs included in achievement standards need to be improved to improve middle and high school mathematics classes.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and apply assessment standards for the reflection of science museum exhibitions in science curriculum. Assesment standards were developed based on the national achievement standards for earth science in elementary school. The researchers measured the reflection level and evaluation scale by applying the developed assesment standards to exhibitions in the National Science Museum. The results of this study showed that the reflection level and evaluation scale of science curriculum far elementary school in the National Science Museum were measured as 52% and 3.53 respectively. Especially, the level of the reflection of science curriculum in the National Science Museum was found to be at the high level in Geologic field and Astronomic field. These results indicate that the National Science Museum as an informal education institute is comparatively well connected to science education of elementary school. Science museum should be connected with school education and it should start after a substantial reflection on the curriculum. For this, science museum need to develop standards that reflect science curriculum. From this point of view, the results of this study can be used as basic data that evaluate the level of connection between science museum and school education and that guide the direction of development of science curriculum.

  • Software education is drawing attention as an education for fostering future talents who will lead the 4th industrial revolution. The purpose of software education for everyone from kinder to adults is not simply to develop programming skills, but to develop "Computational Thinking," a problem-solving ability that effectively solves real-world problems based on computing. Therefore, how to cultivate and evaluate computational thinking is a very important issue. This paper proposed a method of applying a process-based performance evaluation method to evaluate computational thinking ability in the process of solving learners' problems. The developed contents were revised and supplemented through two Delphi surveys by a group of experts consisting of five university professors and five incumbent information teachers majoring in computer science and computer education to verify the effectiveness of the final model. I hope This paper can contribute to the study of evaluating computer thinking ability from the perspective of problem solving.

  • This study is to explore the directions for developing the lesson assessment of the math textbook in elementary school level, which is to embody the recent trends of math assessment and the emphases about assessment given in the revised 2009 math curriculum. To this end, we examined the recent trends of math assessment and the assessment framework of RME (Realistic Math Education) as the theoretical backgrounds. Also we analytically looked at the math-assessment emphases given in the revised 2009 math curriculum, and tried to establish the directions for developing the lesson assessment of the math textbook on the basis of the preceding studies. In addition to, we gave the math items in line with the established directions about lesson assessment. Finally we suggested the issues in relation with the math assessment in the elementary school level.

  • Recently, the connection between science museum and school science curriculum has been emphasized, but the frameworks for evaluating school science curricula are insufficient in terms of how much of school science curriculum was reflected and attained. The purposes of this study are to develop a framework that can be utilized to evaluate levels of curriculum that are reflected and attained in the texts of exhibition panels displayed in science museums. We developed an evaluation tool based on the frameworks used to assess students' achievement in the secondary school curriculum, and we used the tool to measure the reflection and attainment levels demonstrated in the texts of exhibition panels about earth science contents of secondary school curriculum in three science museums located in Chungcheong-do, central part of Korea. Findings showed that the levels of reflection and attainment of secondary school curriculum in exhibition panels about earth science contents in science museums were measured 38.7% and 2.82 points out of 5.0respectively. We hope that the evaluation tool used in this study could be utilized to measure the levels of reflection and attainment of secondary school science curriculum demonstrated in the text of each of exhibition panels in science museums.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to understand the characteristics of dietary education in South Korea and Japan, and find directions for dietary education by comparing the contents of the two countries' dietary education in their national child-care curriculums and evaluations. Methods: To this end, a qualitative content analysis was conducted on the guidebooks for the Standard Child-care Curriculum and the Accreditation Index for Child-care Center in the case of South Korea, and the handbook for the Child-care Guideline and the Third Party Evaluation in the case of Japan. Results: The findings of this study were as follows: First, South Korea showed differences in the focus of child-care curriculums and evaluations. The contents about proper eating such as nutrition and table manners comprised a high portion of the curriculums, whereas the contents about cleanness and hygiene accounted for a high portion of the evaluations. In the case of Japan, its national child-care curriculums and evaluations consistently emphasized contents related to enjoying eating oneself, and suggested various methods for this. Second, in terms of the two countries' approaches to dietary education, South Korea focused on food-related knowledge, whereas Japan mainly created the contents of dietary education based on daily experiences. Conclusion/Implications: The above results suggest a direction to improve the currently publicized dietary guidance problem and a need for consistent the national child care curriculum and evaluation indicators in South Korea to emphasize the importance of joyful eating.
