Information Seeking in Context: Content Analysis of Information Search by College Students (맥락에 따르는 정보추구: 대학생의 과제 관련 정보탐색의 내용분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the emotional and behavioral characteristics of information seeking of university students in context in which a class assignment should be completed. An attempt was made to understand better individualized and selective behavior observed while seeking information in the commonly defined context. Data was collected from content analysis of self-reports by 54 university students majoring in library and information science. Major findings were analyzed in relation to the preception and feelings over, and barriers and strategies of seeking information, and the use of information resources.

Main Cause of the Interference between Visual Search and Spatial Working Memory Task (시각 탐색과 공간적 작업기억간 상호 간섭의 원인)

  • Oh and Kim (2004) and Woodman and Lurk (2004) demonstrated that spatial working memory (SWM) load Interfered concurrent visual search and that search process also impaired the maintenance of spatial information implying that visual search and SWM task both require access to the same limited-capacity mechanism. Two obvious possibilities have been suggested about what this shared limited-capacity mechanism is: common demand for attention to the locations where the items f9r the two tasks were presented (spatial attention load hypothesis), and common use of working memory to maintain a record of locations have been processed(SWM load hypothesis). To test these two hypothetical explanations, Experiment 1 replicated the mutual interference between visual search and SWM task in spite of difference of procedure with preceding researches; possible areas where the items for two tasks were presented were not separated. In Experiment 2, we presented the items for visual search either in the same quadrants where the items for SWM task had appeared (same-location rendition) or in the different quadrants (different-location condition). As a result, search efficiency was more impaired in the different-location condition than in the same-location condition. The memory accuracy was worse in the different-location rendition than in the same-location rendition. Overall results of study indicate that the mutual interference between SWM and visual search might be related to the overload of spatial attention, but not to that of SWM.

The effect of immediate and delayed recognition on Event-Related Potentials in a continuous recognition memory task (연속재인과제에서 즉각적 재인과 지연 재인이 사건관련전위에 미치는 영향)

  • 연속재인과제에서 자극을 즉각적으로 반복 제시하거나 지연 반복 제시할 경우 사건관련전위에 차이가 나타나는지, 만약 차이가 관찰되면 자극 제시 후 어느 시점에서 차이가 두드러지게 나타나는지를 조사하였다. 실험 결과 즉각적 재인이 지연 재인에 비해 더 높은 반응정확율과 더 빠른 반응시간을 보였고 사건관련전위에서는 P300의 진폭이 더 컸고 잠재시간도 더 빨랐다. 그리고 지연재인에서 관찰되는 N400이 즉각적 재인에서는 나타나지 않았다. 지연재인에 비해 즉각적 재인에서 P300의 진폭이 더 크고 잠재시간이 더 빠르게 나타난 것은 P300이 template matching을 통한 정보처리 과정을 반영해 준다는 주장을 지지해 준다. 즉 즉각적 재인에서는 지연 재인에 비해 template matching이 훨씬 더 정확하고 빨리 일어나며 이 결과 P300의 진폭이 커지고 잠재시간이 더 빨라진 것으로 이해된다. 즉각적 재인에서는 방금 제시된 자극(시간 간격은 2초)을 재인하기 때문에 기억의 탐색 과정이 요구되지 않는 반면 5개의 간섭 단어 후에 반복 제시되는 단어를 재인하는 지연 재인에서는 단어에 대한 탐색 과정이 필요하며, 이에 따라 N400이 초래된 것으로 여겨진다. 이 결과는 N400이 기억 탐색 과정을 반영한다는 주장을 지지해 준다. 사건관련 전위에서 즉각적 재인과 지연 재인의 차이는 자극 제시 300ms에서 450ms사이에 가장 두드러지게 나타났다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 산학협력의 일환으로 진행된 RRC 연구과제가 성과로 연결되기 위한 필요요인이 무엇인지를 밝히는 연구이다. 이를 위해 3년간 수행된 67건의 과제를 중심으로 연구책임자와 참여업체를 연구대상으로 조사하였다. 본 논문에서는 산학협력에 대한 이론적 고찰 후, 연구과제의 도출과정과 운영과정을 기술한 뒤, 성과가 높은 집단과 낮은 집단의 주요 차원별 구성형태(configuration)를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 성격은 이론 검증적 연구가 아닌 이론 도출적 연구이며, 이중 탐색적 단계에 해당된다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 과제제안의 경우 연구책임자 단독보다 업체의 참여가 중요하며, 이는 차후 과제활용도를 높이고 경쟁력제고에 도움이 된다. 또한 운영상 개선할 사항으로 연구부문에서는 연구성과의 응용보완, 산학협동에서는 소재분야의 수요조사와 미래형 소재산업 방향 제시 등이 있으며, 인력양성에서는 배출된 인력의 재교육과 연구원의 산업체 연수강화 등이 제시되었다. 개발 후 일관 기술이전보다 개발과정 중 참여 업체 연구원 참여를 통한 단계적 이전이 더욱 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 한편 성공적인 집단과 그렇지 못한 집단의 구성형태를 살펴보았으며, 이 두 집단을 판별하는 중요한 변수로는 과제 선정시 개발가능성과 기술이전 후의 지속적 기술지원의 고려정도가 있으며, 참여기업의 혜택면에서 기술특허 활용정도와 기술관련 애로 사항 해결여부가 중요한 변수로 나타났다.

Cognitive Psychological Approaches for Classification of Students' Mathematical Errors on the basis of Experiential Structuralism (경험적 구조주의에 의한 수학적 오류의 분류가능성 탐색)

  • This article presents new perspectives for classification of students' mathematical errors on the basis of experiential structuralism. Experiential structuralism's mechanism gives us new insights on mathematical errors. The hard core of mechanism is consist of 6 autonomous capacity spheres that are responsible for the representation and processing of different reality domains. There are specific forces that are responsible for this organization of mind. There are expressed in terms of a set of five organizational principles. Classification of mathematical errors is ascribed by the theory to the interaction between the 6 autonomous capacity spheres. Different types of classification require different autonomous capacity spheres. We can classify mathematical errors in the domain of linear function problem solving comparing cognitive psychological mechanism of experiential structuralism.

Web Usability Testing by Using Scanpath Similarity Analysis (탐색경로 일치도 분석을 이용한 웹사이트 사용성 평가)

  • This study was performed to determine the usefulness of scanpath similarity analysis as one of new web usability testing. The 5 websites of public institutions were used and 15 students participated. First of all, eye movements were tracked and visual appeal ratings were measured as participants freely viewed each website for 3 seconds. Subsequently in continuously tracking the eye movements we asked the participants to perform 17 missions. Finally, in interview the participants rated on satisfaction, awareness, and mission difficulty. Results of this study showed that scanpath similarity had a significant relationship with both the visual appeal ratings(first impression) and the satisfaction. In other words, higher the visual appeal ratings were related to higher scanpath similarity. This result showed that measurement such as scanpath similarity of eye movements could become an objective index for usability testing instead of subjective evaluation such as the satisfaction. We discussed possibility that the usability testing by using the scanpath similarity with both fixation and duration on eye movements will find more appropriately inference on observers' experiences in websites.

User-based Relevance and Irrelevance Criteria during the Task Pursuing of Middle School Students (중학생 학습과제 수행을 위한 정보탐색과정에서 적합성 및 비적합성에 관한 연구 - 에듀넷 사이트를 중심으로 -)

  • Although a significant number of studies have been conducted in user-based relevance criteria, a need for further research still remains. The rational is associated with the following inadequacies: (1) research on young user groups, (2) research on the Web environment with multimedia resources, (3) research on the irrelevance criteria and implications to improve related systems and services. Accordingly, this study identified user - based relevance and irrelevance criteria, examining 40 middle school third grader students who use KERIS Edunet site. The results identified 16 relevance criteria and 8 irrelevance criteria. Major implications related to information system and service improvements.

An Exploration of Cognitive Demand Level in MiC Textbook based on the Tasks of 'Data Analysis and Probability' (MiC 교과서의 과제에 대한 인지적 요구 수준 탐색 -'자료 분석과 확률' 영역을 중심으로-)

  • Mathematical tasks in general introduce and deal with real-life situations, and they derive to students' thinking fluently in solving the given tasks. The tasks might be considered as an important and significant factor to lead a successful mathematical teaching and learning situation. MiC Textbook is a representative one showing such good examples and tasks. This study explores concretely and in detail the cognitive demand level of mathematical tasks, by the subject of MiC Textbook. To accomplish this, this study is to reconstruct more elaborately the analysis framework developed by Hwang and Park in 2013. The framework basically was set up utilizing 'the cognitive demand level' suggested by Stein, et, al. The cognitive demand level is divided into two levels such as low level and high level. The low level is comprized of two elements such as Memorization Tasks(MT), Procedures Without Connections Tasks(PNCT), and high level is Procedures With Connections Tasks(PWCT), and Doing Mathematics Tasks(DMT). This study deals with the tasks on the area of 'data analysis and statistics' in MiC 1, 2, 3 level Textbook. As a result, mathematical tasks of MiC Textbook led learners to deal with and understand mathematical content for themselves, and furthermore to do leading roles for checking and reinforcing the content. Also, mathematical tasks of MiC Textbook are comprized of the tasks suitable to enhance mathematical thinking ability through communication. In addition, mathematical tasks of MiC Textbook tend to offer more learning opportunity to learners' themselves while the level of MiC Textbook is going up.

  • 필자들은 96년 4월 28일부터 5월 6일까지 8박 9일간 미국 Indiana주의 Indianapolis에서 열린 미국유화학회에 참석하여 "초임계유체로 추출한 들기름의 특성과 산화안전성"에 관한 논문을 발표하고, 학회 개최지에서 약 3시간 정도 떨어진 Peoria에 위치한 USDA를 방문하여 유지 관련분야의 최근동향 및 연구과제를 탐색하였다. 또한 시카코에서 5월 5일부터 5월 8일까지 열리는 Food Marketing institute에 참석하여 식품에 관련된 신제품의 개발 현황과 수퍼마켓의 운영방법에 대한 것을 살펴보았다.
