  • Two studies were conducted to investigate the interactive effect between temporal proximity of utility value and self-efficacy on situational interest and reengagement motivation. In study 1, university students were provided with either proximal or distal values of mental calculation task. Hierarchical regression analyses showed a significant interaction effect between distal utility value and high self-efficacy, indicating that distal utility value was more effective to induce situational interest and reengagement motivation for students with higher level of self-efficacy. In study 2, we replicated study 1 with high school students to investigate developmental differences and found the same results. These findings suggest that it is important to consider the level of self-efficacy and proximity of utility value in designing value intervention program.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how parents' income, goal, expectancy, and value affect their parents' child supporting behavior, and to understand the behavior of parents supporting their children of elite athletes. For this, the influence relations of parental supporting cost/time according to income, children's achievement level, parents' sports parenting objective, achievement expectancy, and task value were analyzed through simple regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. As a result of the study, income and identity objective had an effect on supporting time. Income affected the supporting cost. Achievement expectancy had a moderating effect of income on supporting cost, and usefulness value had a moderating effect on income and relational objective. It is significant that it provided a quantitative basis for understanding parents' child supporting behavior.

  • Technology valuation refers to the act, procedures, or techniques in evaluating certain technology and its value for commercialization. For this purpose, deadlines and process plans are established based on valuation goals such as technology transfer, investment and financing, investment in kind, and strategy establishment. The technology valuation process involves analyzing and evaluating technology performance, rights, marketability, and business value technology, as well as calculating the monetary value of technology modules based on the results. Analysis and evaluation of each module is performed by a team of experts having knowledge of specific technology. Valuation of technologies is conducted as independent projects by project managers (PM) who integrate and manage modules; they must have expertise in systematic performance of task support and management to ensure objectivity and reliability. Furthermore, the valuation team comprises expert stakeholders having knowledge about each module due to the nature of technology valuation. For smooth knowledge sharing in technology and valuation procedures, communication skills and roles of PMs supporting and managing the valuation are important. Primarily, PMs must resolve conflicts between evaluators participating in different tasks, evaluators and evaluatees, and technology holders and receivers. This study examines technology valuation for four conflicts occurring frequently among stakeholders providing valuation support to PMs, and seeks resolutions. The conflicts and resolutions discussed in this study may lead to more specialized roles of PMs in technology valuation and project management, as well as systemized valuation support and management plans.

  • Korean construction industry faces diverse social and economical changes. Labor shortage, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), high oil prices alert industry practitioners to the new challenges and opportunities. It is time to make novel approaches for significant improvement of industry performance. Korean government and companies have plans for interdisciplinary research and development efforts. To this end, technology evaluation and market needs analysis should be extensively carried out prior to research initiation. Research programs developed in this way are presented in term of budget estimate, research scope and timeline. A framework for construction technology valuation methodology is also suggested to evaluate the holistic technology value and return on investment of research, development and commercialization.

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of reflection on learning outcomes in higher education. Undergraduates enrolled in 3 courses about computer education were involved in the study. They wrote reflective notes with guided questions over six times throughout a semester, and then their task value, learning engagement and academic achievement were measured followed by a survey and interviews to investigate students' responses. As a result, positive influence of the reflective activities was found in cognitive, behavioral and emotional learning engagement and learning achievement. For further studies, the development of reflective strategies for learning motivation and collaborative reflection was suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the prediction of mastery-approach goal orientation, task value, and self-regulated learning strategy on academic satisfaction and achievement of cyber engineering university students. For this study, 219 engineering students of H cyber university who enrolled in the spring semester of 2011 was chosen and completed web surveys. A hypothetical model proposed included mastery-approach goal orientation, task value, and self-regulated learning strategy as predictors, and academic satisfaction and achievement as criteria variables. The results of this study through multiple regression analysis indicated that task value(${\beta}$=.401) and self-regulated learning strategy(${\beta}$=.401) predicted significantly on academic satisfaction. In addition, self-regulated learning strategy(${\beta}$=.301) and mastery-approach goal orientation(${\beta}$=.196) predicted significantly on academic achievement. The result of this study suggested that mastery-approach goal orientation, task value, and self-regulated learning strategy should be considered for improving academic satisfaction and achievement in cyber engineering education.

  • The purpose of this convergence study was to examine the effects of smart learning on learner's participation, academic self-efficacy and task value in nursing education. The study was designed using a nonequivalent control group no-synchronized design. The subjects of this study consisted of 86 experimental group and 95 control group who were nursing students. Data were collected from March 2 to June 8. 2018. The data were analyzed using the spss 18.0 program to perform independent t-test. There were not statistically significant differences in learner's participation(t=1.065, p=.288) but were statistically significant differences in academic self-efficacy(t=2.668, p=.008) and task value(t=2.070, p=.040). Therefore, the smart learning was effective in increasing academic self-efficacy and task value for nursing students. The smart learning is expected to be useful as effective teaching and learning strategies in nursing education.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of academic self-efficacy, task value, behavioral participation, cognitive participation, emotional participation, and initiative participation on learning satisfaction in 462 college students who took a flip learning class. Results, As for the direct effect of variables affecting learning satisfaction, behavioral participation was the largest factor, followed by initiative participation, task value, emotional participation, and academic self-efficacy. These variables explained 86% of learning satisfaction. Academic self-efficacy and task value had an indirect effect on learning satisfaction through behavioral, emotional, and proactive participation. In the multi-group moderating effect with the upper-middle class (B+ or higher) and the lower-middle class (below B) group as the moderating variables, there was a partial moderating effect because the path coefficients of leading participation and learning satisfaction differed between the groups. It is necessary to seek various ways to increase the degree of participation in learning and to develop an intervention strategy through a program tailored to each individual.

  • A nursing department of a university operates the curriculum called, "Introductory Computer Use" with its goal of achieving international certification MOS, which is caused by the result of course analysis and the easiness in getting a job overseas as a nurse. In this paper, we statistically analyze the relation among academic achievement level, task value recognition level, and learning satisfaction by using ICT-based questionnaire and SPSS/WIN 21.0. Finally, we suggest the ways to improve the class-quality and to achieve the class goals required by the course.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the qualitative characteristics of pre-service teachers' motivation while they are participating in group activities for developing mathematical essay assessment problem and revising it. For this purpose, we analyzed individual factors about group learning activities as well as contextual factors about practical competency (in developing and revising mathematical essay assessment problem through collecting data of student responses to the problem). As results of data analyses, autonomy, among individual factors regarding group learning activities, was one of the main characteristics in attainment value, utility value, and intrinsic value, whereas task, authority, and grouping, among contextual factors regarding practical competency, appeared to have a positive impact on task value. These results suggest how to think of specific ideas and articulate them in designing a curriculum to develop student-evaluation expertise for pre-service teachers.
