A Study on Passengers' Acceptance of Untact Technology Services at Incheon Airport: Application Innovative Expansion Theory and Technology Acceptance Model (인천공항 이용객의 언택트기술 서비스 수용에 관한 연구: 혁신확산이론과 기술수용모델의 적용)

  • This study was conducted to explain airport users' acceptance intention for untact smart devices being introduced at Incheon Airport. Based on the technology acceptance model, perceived usefulness and ease of use influenced attitudes and intention to use. It was verified whether it was affecting the effect. In addition, variables proposed in innovation diffusion theory were selected to verify exogenous variables that affect perceived usefulness and ease of use, which serve as key independent variables in the technology acceptance model. Research results show that perceived usefulness has a high level of positive influence on attitude, whereas perceived ease of use has a low influence and does not show a statistically significant influence. In addition, it was confirmed that most variables of the innovation diffusion theory had no effect on usefulness and ease of use. This means that the key variable in the spread and use of untact smart devices at airports is the perception of usefulness, which means that resistance to accepting new technology is not high.

  • The objectives of this study are to develop more practical and efficient model concerned with airport charge, especially with aircraft landing charge. This study utilizes average pricing and marginal pricing theory as well as cost accounting theory. The average pricing method is useful to make total costs recovery possible in uncongested situation where the marginal costs are too low to recover the total costs of service. The utilization of cost accounting theory with marginal cost pricing theory would improve the practical applicability of the model. In addition, it is necessary to apply cost accounting information in order to estimate more exact cost for the service of landing and take-off of each aircraft type.

  • 미국 국방부에서 군사용으로 사용되던 수 GHz 대역의 초 광대역 주파수 스펙트럼을 미국연방통신위원회(FCC)에서 민간에 개방하면서 여러 활용 기술이 개발 되고 있다. 소비전력이 적고, 고속통신 및 방해 전파에 강하다는 특성을 갖고 있으며 또한 작은 위치 검출 오차로 정밀도가 높으나 거리가 길어지면 급속도록 떨어지는 속도로 인하여 근거리 통신으로 활용 검토 되고 있다. 따라서 공항 및 항공기내 지역에서 초 광대역 주파수 특성을 활용하여 적용 가능한 항공기 익단충돌방지시스템, 항공기와 고속 데이터 전송, 항공기 내의 무선 백본 시스템 활용 및 공항 지역의 이동체 위치 정보 관리 등 다양한 항공 서비스 업무에 적용 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze domestic air passengers' preferences for selecting domestic airline company. By the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) method, we tried to measure the weight of the qualitative factors objectively and scientifically. The overall results indicate that domestic air passengers place more weight on airport service factor than other service factors for selecting domestic airline. Also, reservation/ticketing and in-flight service factors are equivalent to airport service factor. These priorities are differently shown followed by passengers' income. Therefore, airline companies need to formulate the differentiated strategy and customer-oriented marketing plan based on identified customer needs.

  • We propose an age estimation-based smart digital signage for the next-generation airport service. The proposed system can recognize the face of the customer so that it can display the selective information. Using a webcam, the system captures the face of the customer and estimates the age of the customer by calculating the wrinkle density of the face and applying bayesian classifier. The developed age estimation method is tested with a face database for the performance evaluation. We expect the new digital signage may improve the satisfaction of customers of the airport business.

  • This study was undertaken to explore the determinants affecting behavioral intention to adopt airport self-service. Based on the theoretical model incorporating the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), in this study, a revised and extended model was proposed in order to better explain Airport Self-service adoption. Moreover, the aim was to determine the mediating effect of hedonic motivation on Airport Self-service adoption. The proposed model was empirically tested using survey data provided by 323 respondents and was analyzed using a multiple regression analysis.

  • Incheon International Airport(IIA) is planned to open in about two years. Korean government has an ambition to make IIA a major hub airport in Northeast Asia. The most essential and required condition for an airport to be a successful hub airport in a certain region is to have more efficient flight service network than the other airports in the same region. IIA should compete with Japanese airports to be a major hub in Northeast Asia because Japanese government also has a plan to expand greatly the airport capacity in Tokyo area and Kansai airport in Osaka. It is necessary for both IIA and Korean national air carriers to compose efficient flight service network considering hub competition with Japanese major airports. As the liberalization of international air transport industry would give more marketing freedom to airlines, they would plan the flight service network and flight schedule based on market analysis instead of governmental regulations. In the economically liberalized environment, it is very required to analyze air passengers' flight choice behaviour in order to induce other carriers and passengers through IIA's attractive flight service network. Disaggregate model is more appropriate than aggregate model to analyze consumers' behaviour. The information derived from disaggregate choice model of air passengers could be utilized in devising efficient flight network and schedule plan. Value of travel time or trade off ratio between flight frequency and travel time which could be estimated from discrete choice model could be utilized for scheduling an efficient flight plan for airlines and composing efficient flight service network for IIA.

  • Airport GIS is a comprehensive information system to improve security and efficiency of airport. At the initial stage to make it real, the current status of domestic and international regulations along with relevant standardization bas been reviewed. Gimpo Airport becomes a test-bed to get some ideas about how to bring the airport GIS into workflow by building service model and basic design based on current status and demand analysis of the airport. The 6 service models primarily brought into the project are as follows: (1) Local vehicles safety management in airside, (2) Intelligent traffic control between flights and vehicles at main cross points, (3) Dynamic safety management against FOD in airside and breakage on pavement, (4) Special support vehicle management such as deicing remotely controlled, (5) Response and support for fire vehicles and ambulances of signatory institutions in emergency. The upcoming research topic aims at drawing a specific design and building integrated system in the future.

  • Digital signage provides flight and airport information to the airport visitors and passengers. However, the digital signage has efficiency problem by displaying one type of advertisement to every customers regardless of their personality. We may solvel the inefficiency problem by using a smart digital signage which can recognize the characteristics of the customer We presents a smart digital signage with sex recognition function. The smart digital signage can recognize the sex of the customer to display the custom-made advertisement in realtime so that we can increase the satisfaction level of the airport passengers and visitors.
