The Development of Ecobot Robot for Friendly Environment Smart Home Appliance Application System (친환경 스마트 가전 응용 시스템용 Ecobot 로봇 플랫폼 개발)

  • In this paper, we developed mobile robot platform called Ecobot for the application system of friendly environment smart home appliance. Ecobot fulfills the purposes of monitoring of the healthy environment and guidance in the application system of friendly smart environment home appliance, home network formed by Zigbee network. For the healthy environment, the system contains monitoring sensor. Moreover, it continuously keeps the healthy environment by controlling the smart home appliances linkng with Zigbee network. And also using the URG-04LX laser distance sensor, it monitors indoor environment through autonomous moving and collision avoidance.

A 4-way Pipelined Processing Architecture for Three-Step Search Block Matching Algorithm (3 단계 블록 매칭 알고리즘을 위한 4-경로 파이프라인 처리)

  • A novel 4-way pipelined processing architecture is presented for three-step search block-matching motion estimation. For the 4-way pipelined processing, we have developed a method which divides the current block and search area into 4 subregions respectively and processes them concurrently. Also, we have developed memory partitioning method to access pixel data from 4 subregions concurrently without memory conflict. The architecture has been designed and simulated with C language and VHDL. Experimental results show that the proposed architecture achieves a high performance for real time motion estimation.

  • UWB(Ultra-Wide Band) system is transmitted using Gaussian monocycle pulse of very short pulse duration less than 1 nsec. Therefore, transmission signal has ultra-wide band spectrum to GHz band of very low power and not interfere with the existing communication system. A collision of multipath waves in UWB system with tarrier frequency very different with general wireless communication system. In this paper, the BER(Bit Error Rate) performance of UWB system applying Binary Phase Shift Keying, Quadrature Phase Shift Keying, 16-Quadrature Amplitude Modulation method under multipath channel using computer simulation is compared and analyzed.

  • The rotator cuff is situated in a potential tight subacromial space and undergoes senescent structural changes commonly observed in other joints of the body. When the cuff fails, spontaneous healing of the torn tendon is not expected to occur, and multiple factors may be responsible. Its fibers are under tension and typically retract on tearing. The subacromial bursal inflammation and alterations in normal glenohumeral kinematics have been considered in the development of symptoms. Controversy continues to exist concerning the pathogenesis of rotator cuff disease. The heterogeneity of the disorder, as well as the notion that rotator cuff disease may not actually represent a continuum of the same process, but rather, is a compilation of independent disorders, may partly explain the differing viewpoints on its origin. Two contrasting pathogenetic mechanisms have been extensively described and include vascular, or intrinsic, causes and impingement, or extrinsic, factors. Other etiologies have also been reported that include trauma, congenital or developmental factors, and instability. For successful treatment of the rotator cuff diseases, it is essential to understand the structure and function of rotator cuff and to clarify the pathogenesis and natural history of its disorder.

Turbulent Heat Transfer of an Oblique Impinging Jet on a Concave Surface (오목표면에 분사되는 경사충돌제트의 난류열전달 현상에 관한 연구)

  • The turbulent heat transfer from a round oblique impinging jet on a concave surface were experimentally investigated. The transient measurement method using liquid crystal was used in this study. In this measurement, a preheated wall was suddenly exposed to an impinging jet while recording the response of liquid crystals to measure surface temperature. The Reynolds numbers were 11000, 23000 and 50000, nozzle-to-surface distance ratio was from 2 to 10 and the surface angles were a =$0^{\circ}\;15^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}and\;40^{\circ}$. Correlations of the stagnation point Nusselt numbers with Reynolds number, jet-to-surface distance ratio and dimensionless surface angle, which account for the surface inclined angle, are presented. The maximum Nusselt numbers, in this experiment, occurred in the direction of upstream. The displacement of the maximum Nusselt number from the stagnation point increases with increasing surface angle or decreasing nozzle-to-surface distance. In this experiment, the maximum displacement is about 0.7 times of the jet nozzle diameter when surface curvature, D/d is 10.

  • This paper presents a new search strategy based on models of evolution in order to solve the problem of collision-free robotic path planning. We designed the robot path planning method with genetic algorithm which has become a well-known technique for optimization, intelligent search. Considering the path points as genes in a chromosome will provide a number of possible solutions on a given map. In this case, path distances that each chromosome creates can be regarded as a fitness measure for the corresponding chromosome. The effectiveness of the proposed genetic algorithm in the path planning was demonstrated by simulation. The proposed search strategy is able to use multiple and static obstacles.

  • In this paper, we studied about AGVs modeling and material handling automation simulation using a virtual AGV. The proposed virtual AGV model that operates independently each other is based on a real AGV. Continuous straight-line and workstation model using vector drawing method that could easily, rapidly work system modeling are suggested. Centralized traffic control, which could collision avoidance in intersection and should not stop AGV as possible, and algorithm for detour routing which performs when another AGV is working in pre-routed path are proposed. The traffic control and the algorithm have been proved efficience by simulation.

  • A collision-free trajectory planning for two robots with designated paths is considered. The proposed method is based on the concept of decomposing the planning problem into two steps: one is determining coordination of two robots, and the other is velocity planning with determined coordination. Dynamics and maximum allowable joint velocities are also taken into consideration in the whole planning process. The proposed algorithm is converted into numerical calculation version based on neural optimization network. To show the usefulness of proposed method, an example of trajectory planning for 2 SCARA type robot in common workspace is illustrated.

  • Steam jets ejected from a rupture zone of high energy pipes may cause damage to adjacent structures. This event could lead to more serious accidents in nuclear power plants. Therefore, to prevent serious accidents, high energy pipes of nuclear power plants are designed according to the ANSI / ANS 58.2 technical standard. However, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) has recently pointed out non-conservatism in existing high energy pipe fracture evaluation methods, and required the assessment of the unsteady load of the jet caused by a potential feedback mechanism as well as the impact range of steam jet, the jet impact loads and the blast wave effects at the initial breakage stage. The potential feedback mechanism refers to a phenomenon in which a vortex formed by impingement jets amplifies vortex itself and induces jet vibration in a shear layer. In this study, CFD methodology using the LES turbulence model is established and numerical analysis is carried out to evaluate the dynamic behavior of impingement jets and the potential feedback mechanism during jet impingement. Obtained results have been compared with an empirical correlation and experiment.

Analysis of Effect of the Ship's Route Exchange through the Ship Handling Simulation (선박조종 시뮬레이션을 통한 선박 경로 교환의 효과 분석)

  • To prepare the integrated safety management system 'e-navigation', research is being conducted on the route exchange for sharing intended routes between ship and ship, and between ship and land. But they don't have enough specific grounds for the effects of route exchange and the necessity of its introduction and focus on technical aspects like the implementation of route exchange. This study tried to quantitatively analyze the effects of route exchange on sailing safety with the use of ship handling simulation, integrate simulation performers' subjective evaluations, and investigate the effects of route exchange. The ship-to-ship route exchange resulted in the initial collision avoidance action time was 3.43 minutes faster, the collision avoidance direction change rate was 60 %, the proximity to target A was 31 %, and Mean Rudder Angle Index decreased by 57 %. In addition, 95 % of the survey respondents had an effect on the decision making of collision avoidance, 85 % had a positive impact on safety navigation, 90 % had an accident prevention effect, 70 % reduced the psychological burden of officers, and 70 % should be introduced in practice.
