A Case Study on the Game Industry Optimized Human Resource Development Program (게임업계 맞춤형 인력양성 사례연구(계약학과를 중심으로))

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the results & performance of the optimized human resource development program, which was progressed by Gachon University in the past three years. Gachon University since 2009, with the support of the government, has launched a "Game Project Track" and also has carried out curriculum development and student education with cooperative companies in the field of game industry. Furthermore, Game Project Track, with companies, has pursued special lecture & intern training during vacation in order to strengthen students' ability to adapt on-site. As a results of co-education, 25 students have received the award in the external competitions, and also 39 students(97.5%) of 40 graduated from this course have been employed by cooperative companies.

  • 본 연구는 2021 게임업계 연쇄 파동을 통해 게임사 이슈 대응에 대한 사용자들의 인식이 바뀐 것에 주목하여 메이플스토리 확률 조작 사건에서 나타난 사용자들의 반응을 토픽모델링으로 분석하였다. 이를 위해 사건의 발단이 된 메이플스토리 테스트 월드 업데이트 내용이 업로드된 2021년 2월 18일 17시를 기점으로 국내 온라인 게임 커뮤니티 중 하나인 인벤의 자유게시판에서 총 10만 개의 게시물을 수집하고 토픽모델링 분석을 실시하였다. 이후 도출된 주제별 주요 단어를 10개씩 확인하여 주제를 정의했다. 각 토픽을 비교하며 관련성을 확인했고 이를 통해 사용자들의 반응을 분석한 결과 확률 조작으로 인한 보상으로 환불을 원하고 있다는 것과 아이템의 확률을 조작했다는 것에 대한 사용자들의 분노, 디렉터 본인의 직접적인 사과문과 사용자와의 소통 요구, 또 다른 게임으로의 이탈을 확인할 수 있었다.

A Case Study on the Development of Curriculum for Dept. of Game Programming in University Customized to Online Game Industry (대학(게임 프로그래밍 계약학과)의 게임산업계 맞춤형 교육과정 개발을 위한 사례 연구1))

  • Still there is a quality mismatch between required manpower of game companies and supplied one from universities in Korean game industry. The demand-oriented workforce training project is being implemented by KOCCA(Korea Creative Content Agency) for reducing the gap. This paper is focused on the development of training course for students of the game programming department in K University. This paper derived a education training course customized to online game industry by surveying 35 companies to find their needs for recruiting. Additionally some advice is suggested for successful education training. This paper not only will contribute to verify the required competence of people force in game industry but also offer a guideline for designing curriculum for game programmer.

  • 본 논문에서는 텍스처 합성 기술을 활용하여 가상의 거품 패턴 텍스처를 생성하기 위한 합성 데이터 구축 방법을 소개한다. 물리 기반 유체 시뮬레이션에서 거품 표현은 2차 효과(Secondary effects)로 분류되며, 그만큼 계산량이 큰 작업이다. 게임 업계에서는 저사양 디바이스에서도 실시간으로 게임이 실행되어야 하므로 상대적으로 계산량이 큰 물리 기반 시뮬레이션을 통해 거품을 표현하기 어렵다. 대부분 사용자가 임의로 그린 거품 패턴을 화면에 매핑하여 적은 계산량을 통해 거품을 표현하지만, 시뮬레이션을 통해 만들어진 데이터가 아니기 때문에 품질을 보장하기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 물리 기반 시뮬레이션을 통해 만들어진 거품 패턴을 텍스처 합성 기술을 통해 재생산(Reproduction)함으로써 수작업으로 그린 거품 패턴에서는 표현하기 어려운 고품질 거품 패턴 텍스처를 만들어 낸다.

A Study on the Impact of Organizational Commitment on Turnover Intention of Gaming Industry Workers : Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Job Satisfacti (게임업계 종사자의 조직몰입이 이직의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 직무만족 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • High turnover and short tenure in the gaming industry has been a problem since the 2000s. Although high turnover can increase the flexibility of working hours, it has a negative impact on labor stability, and the negative effects of turnover outweigh the positive effects for companies, so efforts are needed to reduce turnover intention, an antecedent of turnover. Therefore, this study investigated the factors affecting turnover intention of employees in the game industry, focusing on organizational commitment and job satisfaction, which are factors that affect turnover intention through previous studies. The results of the regression analysis and mediation effect verification by conducting a questionnaire survey on 221 employees in the game industry showed that emotional engagement among the components of organizational commitment influences turnover intention through job satisfaction. Therefore, it is important to provide goals such as game release and rewards to keep employees emotionally engaged in order to reduce turnover intention.

Research on the Development of NCS-based Game Curriculum Focused on the Game Contents Dept. of Kimpo Univ. (NCS기반 게임교육과정 개발에 관한 연구 : 김포대학교 게임콘텐츠과를 중심으로)

  • Since the development of NCS-based curriculum in field of game education is not well studied, so we carried out research on the curriculum development of game contents department of Kimpo University as the first study to link game education and NCS. In order to develop the NCS-based game education course, we analyzed the game industry environment and conducted a demand survey on the game industry officials to derive the vocational basic subjects required for game contents creation. In addition, we analyzed the types of manpower training by using on-site experts (SME). SME also designed the NCS curriculum by matching the manpower type comparing with NCS classification and capacity unit, analyzing the usefulness of each Capacity unit, and finally, by arranging each NCS and non-NCS subjects by semester. This research is meaningful as the first study linking NCS and game content creation, and it will be a reference for other education institutions planning game education course based on NCS. It also can be used as a basic material for researching game education quality management (CQI) as well as improvement methods for future game education courses.

Why do People Play P2E (Play-to-Earn) Games?: Focusing on Outcome Expectation and Social Influence (P2E(Play-to-Earn) 게임 지속이용의도에 대한 연구)

  • With the development of blockchain technology, play-to-earn (P2E) games, one of the decentralized applications (dApps), are receiving great social attention. P2E games are positively evaluated as areas with high growth potential based on blockchain technology, and at the same time, they are negatively evaluated as speculative as people can cash P2E game items in the form of cryptocurrency. In this situation, the purpose of this study is to investigate factors affecting the intention to use P2E games. Along with the discussion of hedonic system adoption, we consider the factors with perceived enjoyment, economic incentive, and social influence. In order to verify our research model, data were collected from 350 adults with P2E game experience or recognition, and a structural equation model was carried out. The analysis results find that perceived enjoyment and subjective norm have a significant positive effect on the intention to use P2E games, and economic incentive does not have a significant effect. In addition, peer influence and external influence have a significant positive effect on subjective norm. Drawing on these findings, we present several academic and practical implications for future research.
