A Comparison of Information Retrieval Strategies according to cognitive patterns in Elementary Students (초등학생의 인지양식에 따른 검색전략비교)

  • The popularization of the Internet brought about easy access to a huge amount of information, yet it is hardly easy for one to find information in need. Therefore, information users must have information retrieval abilities to gather, analyze and utilize data in efficient ways. In general the information retrieval strategies of each user are all different, and consequently the retrieved result also significantly varies from one to another. This paper describes an experimental study on information retrieval behaviors in elementary students, and analyzes the variation in retrieval strategies and results by examining cognitive patterns based on their personal characteristics, specifically their cognitive patterns. As a research result we propose a set of education requirements which can improve students' information retrieval abilities and the efficiency of the information retrieval system.

  • The objectives of this study is to propose the direction of developing the reading activities of the individuals in the future society, and to develop the "model of Web-based reading strategy", based on the understanding of the information literacy reading strategies, and the characteristic and concept of web 3.0., for adapting to the changes in the media environment. In this study, 6 reading strategy models based on the web platform were developed. These 6 strategy models are Metacognitive Strategy, Information Retrieval Model, Personalization Strategy, Reading Strategy, Writing Strategy and Interpreting Strategy.

Answerers' Strategies to Provide Credible Information in Question Answering Community (지식검색 커뮤니티에서 신뢰성 있는 답변을 제공하기 위한 답변자들의 전략)

  • The popularity of question answering communities such as Yahoo! Answers and Naver Knowledge-iN and increasing doubts about the competence of lay information providers prompted this study to explore answerers' strategies to provide a credible answer in a question answering community. Forty-four active answerers in Yahoo! Answers were included in this study, and interviews were conducted through email, chat, and over the telephone. This study identified a set of information sources the answerers used, an array of important strategies to provide a credible answer, and their perception of self-claimed expertise. Implications of results were discussed in the context of user instruction.

A Study on the Korean University Students' Usage of Foreign Language Queries in Scholarly Information Retrieval (학술정보검색을 위한 국내 대학생의 외국어 탐색문 활용에 관한 연구)

  • This study focused on understanding the Korean university students' (both undergraduates and graduates) use of foreign language for scholarly information retrieval especially in different search strategies employed based on users' characteristics. A new model was developed based on Ellis's behavioral model of information seeking strategies. The research applied both quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the data. The students used a variety of foreign language information seeking strategies at different stages of academic information retrieval based on his/her field of study or level of education. The liberal arts and social science students had more difficulty in selecting proper search terms in the foreign language than the science and technology students. This difficulty resulted in less preference for using foreign language queries by the liberal arts and social science students. The students relied more on the bibliographic and citation information in scholarly information retrieval using foreign language queries than the Korean queries. The research outcomes should provide some guidelines on how the Korean university libraries offer information literacy programs and other services based on the patrons' characteristics.

An Exploratory Study on the Relationship Between Tourism Motivations and On-line Tourism Information Search Behavior (관광동기와 인터넷 관광정보 검색간의 관계에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • The public Information systems for destination marketing have poorly operated and failed to satisfy tourists' needs. Public tourism website mainly offers fundamental tourism information such as transportation, lodging and prime attractions, which is mainly specialized in commercial web sites, and fails to attract tourists. For the public benefits, marketing strategy publicl DMOs have to specialize their tourism information, and attract specific target markets. Thus, this study examined the effect of tourism motivations on information search behavior to figure out the importance of tourism information. The results show that the level of escapist motivation positively to the perceived importance of fundamental informations, and the level of activist motivation effects positively to the perceived importance of objective-specific informations. These results give show problems of regional tourism information site and implications are suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to raise the importance of information literacy programs for professional secretaries and to present guidelines for organizing them. While the level of projects in secretaries' information service is defined as an influencing factor to the necessity of information literacy programs, the level of scholarships or secretarial science as a major is not. An analysis on education needs of secretaries recommended that curriculum should be composed of 15 topics such as: meta search engines, special search engines, boolean operators, digital libraries, usenet, information centers, internet reference sources, SDI, topic search request, document delivery service, e-journals, commercial databases, fulltext service, search strategy and general search engines.

A Study on the Establishment of Systematic Review Service for University Libraries in Korea (국내 대학도서관의 체계적 문헌고찰 서비스 구축 방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a plan for establishing SR (systematic review, hereinafter called SR) support services in domestic university libraries through a case study of SR support services in overseas university libraries. For this purpose, a total of 119 overseas university libraries were divided into all fields (subjects and disciplines) and the medical field. And A total of 10 areas such as service fields, service subjects, public relations, librarian roles (counselors, collaborators), education, librarian introduction, team member, application form, SR theoretical content, and others were divided and investigated. As a result, the SR support service of the university libraries being investigated is expanding from the medical field to academic fields such as natural science, engineering, and social science. It was confirmed that there were differences in service support hours, services, and whether co-authors were recognized according to the role of the librarian. Educational services are provided to users for the SR support service with a focus on retrieval strategy and skills. In the promotion of the SR support service, the librarian must suggest that it should be included. The importance of SR support services for Korean university libraries should be emphasized through the analysis of SR support services for overseas university libraries, professional search education should be strengthened in the curriculum. Also Organizations related to university libraries such as KERIS have suggested that systematic SR education support is needed for librarians.

An Exploratory Study on Online Education Scaffolding Stategy and Effect at the University Using a Systematic Review (대학 온라인 교육의 스캐폴딩 전략 및 효과 탐색을 위한 체계적 문헌고찰)

  • The interest in online education has increased due to the spread of COVID-19. Especially, in the online environment, the importance of scaffolding, which refers to the help and support provided by instructors or peer learners, is being emphasized. This study aimed to review the antecedents of online scaffolding at the university of Korea through the method of systematic review. For this purpose, we collected 578 studies conducted from 2010 to 2021 and selected 7 studies according to the criteria of selection and exclusion. As a result, we found general features, types, and effects of online scaffolding at the university of Korea. Based on these results, we discussed suggestions and implications for a follow-up study. We hope many empirical kinds of research will be conducted about online scaffolding at the university.

  • 웹 커뮤니티 기반 온 오프라인 연계 자기주도 학습모형은 일반적으로 전통적인 면대면 교육방식이 갖고 있던 시간과 공간상의 제약 및 상호작용성의 한계를 극복하려던 e-Learning의 노력에서 한 걸음 더 나아가, e-Learning 교육 방식에 전통적인 면대면 교육방식이 갖고 있는 교육적 장점을 결합, 적절히 활용함으로써 학습효과를 극대화하기 위한 학습전략-소위 Blended Learning이다. 이에 이 논문에서는 교실이라는 제한된 범위를 넘어 다른 지역, 다른 학습자끼리 공동 관심사항에 대해 각기 자료를 검색하고, 취합하여 결과물을 공유하는 시스템을 적용하였다. 이 연구는 많은 사람들과의 연계를 통해 지기주도적 상호작용을 활성화한다는 점 이외에도 전문가 집단의 도움을 쉽게 받을 수 있으며 서로 다른 환경과 문화에 대해 통찰할 수 있는 기회를 제공해 준다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 학습자 중심의 스마트 교육을 위한 융복합 학습 콘텐츠의 개발요소와 개별화되고 맞춤화 된 창의적인 교육콘텐츠 개발방안을 분석하는 것에 있다. 스마트교육환경에 적합한 어플리케이션의 개발방안은 전통적인 교수 학습 모델과 유기적으로 연계되어야 하며 학습을 위한 검색기능, 학습 자료를 추출하는 조사도구기능, 협력활동을 지원하는 기능, 문서저작기능, 심화학습을 위한 기능을 구현해야 한다. 향후 교육환경은 클라우드 교육서비스를 기반으로 네트워킹을 통한 국내외 학습자원의 지원과 협력학습 인프라를 통해 언제 어디서나 학습이 이루어지는 학습 선택권을 중심으로 이루어질 것이다.
