Application of Activity-Based Costing(ABC) for Modular Building Construction Indirect Costs Calculation at the Manufacturing Stage (활동기준원가계산법(Actvitiy-Based Costing)에 의한 모듈러 건축물 공장제작단계 간접비 산정 방안)

  • Modular construction is combined with manufacturing production process and conventional construction industry technique. Considering characteristic of modular construction production process, manufacturing facilities require indirect costs for utilities, equipment, and overall maintenance, which can affect modular units pricing. However, current modular construction cost classification is inadvertent to reflect the manufacturing overhead costs, because it is generally added as a percentage to sum of labor, material and equipment as it called in single cost pool used. This process is easy to estimate the total construction cost at the project starting points, but it brings on misunderstanding of project profit estimations by "cross subsidization phenomenon". To prevent this situation, in this research aims to provide modular construction overhead cost handling process at the detailed indirect cost calculation for manufacturing stage using Activity-Based Costing as one of the powerful method for overhead costs estimation and allocation. Using this research results, modular construction cost estimators have more detailed cost information of modular units and prevent to misallocate indirect costs. Also, it can be utilized to aid the understanding of the company's profit structure.

  • This paper provides theoretical deformation of lean concept and its application for usage of building information modeling (BIM) process. Recently, much research is focused on application of lean concept for more efficient usage of BIM. The lean theory and its basic function and feature is based on manufacturing industry. The manufacturing process can be improved by process re-engineering steps of lean concept which consist of the steps of value, value stream, flow, pull, perfection. However manufacturing process and construction process has different characteristics. Due to the differences, five steps of the traditional lean's process re-engineering can't be directly applied to the BIM based engineering process. In order to solve this problem, we conduct analysis on the characteristics of the manufacturing process and BIM based engineering. We propose modified and expanded concept of lean for process re-engineering and the modified theory was applied to the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) coordination process. Through the proposed 8 steps of methodology, 2D based process was changed to integrated and using BIM based MEP coordination process. In addition, the results showed the potentiality of cost reduction and process improvement. The results of this study can be a foundation for the theoretical combination of lean and a variety part of construction engineering process.

  • 90년대에 들어서면서부터 미래원천기술 개발에 필요한 양성자원 및 중성자원의 중요성이 부각됨으로써, 이에 적합한 고에너지(수백 MeV${\sim}$수 GeV) 및 대전류(수십 mA)의 대형 양성자 가속기가 개발되어 반도체 생산, 의료장비 등 여러 분야에 널리 적용되고 있는 추세이다[1, 2]. 이에 양성자 사업단은 21세기 미래 원천기술을 개발하고 산업경쟁력을 제고하며 공공복지를 증진시킬 수 있는 양성자가속기를 개발하여, NT, BT, IT, ST등 중요 국가과학기술분야의 발전기반을 확충하기 위한 프론티어 사업목표로 하고 있으며 이에 부응할 수 있는 양성자 가속기 연구센터 건설계획을 설정하여 추진 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 양성자가속기 연구센터 지원시설 건축설계의 일환으로 수행되고 있는 전기, 소방, 통신 및 방범설비 설계과정에서 각 설비설계시의 주요기능 및 특징에 관해 기술하고자 한다.

  • The successful completion of a construction project requires a thorough understanding of all stages and phases of the project, and enhanced through integration of design and construction during the pre-construction stage. Constructability is a major factor in measuring the success or failure of construction project. During the pre-construction stage, lack of construction knowledge integration in the planning and design process is a major factor that leads to constructability problems during the construction stage. this study is to find out such problems based on interview and questionnaire in the structure's work of High-Rise Office Buildings. The objective of this study is to Identify Impact aspect of the structure's work of High-Rise Office Buildings.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop a conceptual model and prototype that establishes a new approach for building cost estimating in the schematic design phage. This research use the method that analyzes quantity and unit price separately to enhance schematic cost estimating through conducting literature review andi analyzing existing schematic cost estimating methods. In addition, this study proposes tile concept of cost breakdown structure including two more classifications: building element and floor compared to existing one only classified by trade. Thus, a Quantity Based Active Schematic cost Estimating(Q-BASE) model is developed founded on those two concepts. By applying proposed schematic cost estimating model, historical structure cost of residential complex building project is analyzed, and then, based on this analysis, prototype is implemented.

Shear Design of Trapezoidally Corrugated Steel Webs (제형 파형강판 복부판의 전단 설계)

  • Corrugated steel webs resist only shear force because of the accordion effects. The shear force in the web can cause three different buckling mode: local, global, and interactive shear buckling modes. The shear behavior of the corrugated steel webs have been investigated by several researchers. However, shear buckling behavior of the corrugated webs are not clearly explained yet. And, it lead the conservative design. This paper presents shear strength of trapezoidally corrugated steel webs. A series of the tests were also conducted to verified proposed shear strength. Firstly, local, global, and interactive shear buckling equations provided by previous researchers were rearranged as a simple form considering the profiles of the existing bridges with corrugated steel webs. And, global and interactive shear buckling coefficient, and shear buckling parameter for corrugated webs were suggested in this study. Inelastic buckling strength can be determined from buckling curves based on the proposed shear buckling parameter. From the test results of this study and those of previous researchers, it can be found that suggested shear strength provides good estimation of those of trapezoidally corrugated steel webs.

  • In order to implement smart cities that will become living spaces in the fourth industrial revolution era, detailed privacy information such as residents' living information, buildings and facilities information must be collected and processed in real time. While city functions and convenience for individuals are being facilitated, threats to personal information exposure and leakage are also likely to increase at the same time. Therefore, the design concept for personal information protection should be considered and accordingly reflected from the stages of smart city design, technology development and operation planning of intelligent information (AI) facilities. The results of the analysis show that for activation of smart cities and operation of data-driven cities, the concept of Privacy by Design (PbD) has already been introduced in the institutional, industrial and technological aspects, particularly in the cases of European countries and the US. In order to strengthen the local and global competitiveness of smart cities and the country, Korea also needs to actively deploy PbD as a strategy to secure a data-driven economy, which is the core strategy for smart cities. Therefore, the study suggests policy implications focused on approaches to legislative improvement and technology development support, which reflect the basic properties of PbD as defined in the study.

  • In our society, the advanced, advanced, and information industries have continued to grow and now live in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. As the industry develops, the load of the users has also increased so much that it is deepened by the energy shortage phenomenon and the construction of additional energy facilities is required. Therefore, energy plant construction work is being actively carried out in the coastal area. In particular, it is common to build a plant in the ground by filling the coast with soil in other regions, reflecting the fact that Korea is lacking in the country when constructing power plants, gas and petrochemical plants. Current domestic grounding designs are designed or constructed to suit only the use of grounding resistors based on the electrical equipment design technical standards. However, in the case of a plant facility constructed in the untested buried soil, when the lightning current and the abnormal current are inputted, the facility operator or the user due to the elevation of the ground potential is seriously exposed to the risk of electric shock disaster. In this paper, we analyze the ground resistivity of the landfilled soil and use a computer program (CDEGS) based on KS C IEC 61936-1, We analyze the contact voltage and stratification voltage and propose a grounding design optimized for plant installation.

Integrated Information Management for Composite Object Properties in BIM (BIM 복합객체에 대한 속성정보의 통합관리)

  • Building information modeling (BIM)-based construction projects have increased and become more varied, and as such the management of BIM-based facility information is also increasingly important for facility maintenance. Information management, and specifically product data mapping, however, has some problems in the area of manual data entry and does not adequately consider the exchange requirements of facility maintenance. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce a method to improve the management of composite object information for BIM-based facility maintenance so that it can handle construction operation building information exchange (COBie) data for a composite object. Therefore, we present a method to map COBie data to related materials of a composite object. This research contributes to increasing the efficiency and accuracy of the required information mapping between a building model and product data using a BIM library through optimal BIM data adoption. Moreover, it allows for the creation and management of specific product data at the design development phase.

  • The contemporary domestic construction landscape has witnessed a contraction, primarily attributed to the operational challenges faced by construction entities and a downtrend in the initiation of new projects. In light of this, domestic construction enterprises are ardently seeking avenues to economize whilst simultaneously amplifying the quality across diverse construction genres. Value engineering (VE), heralded for its prowess in not only cost mitigation but also in accelerating project timelines and bolstering construction quality, has been extensively adopted in refining finishing tasks. However, its application to framework enhancements remains conspicuously limited. Particularly in factory edification, framing emerges as a pivotal process exerting significant influence over the entire construction continuum. Thus, it becomes imperative to integrate VE techniques at the inception phase of framing. This would facilitate a meticulous examination of design schematics and on-site conditions, paving the way for alternative strategies that condense construction durations, economize on costs, and augment work efficiency, all the while upholding paramount standards of quality and safety. Such a venture stands to be foundational in expediting construction timelines, fostering economic efficiency, and buttressing construction safety protocols.
