This study was aimed to derive measures for maximizing ripple effect of construction of overseas industrial complexes on domestic economy. The induced coefficients were estimated for each step of development of industrial complexes by applying the raw data of ICAK and the input-output mode. As a result, for urban service, the fraction of labor costs was high, and for civil engineering, the fraction of profit & loss was high. However, the proportion of intermediate and profit & loss was high in Architecture. Consequently, compare to the same type of overseas constructions, larger effects were seen at urban service in terms of employment, at civil engineering and architecture in terms of business, and at national economy in terms of architecture. These results suggest that in order to maximize ripple effect of construction of overseas industrial complex on domestic economy, it will be needed to seek an order strategy including not only simply sell a land and but also building factories in the industrial complex.

A Conceptual cost estimate, which is computed in the preliminary step of a project, is important for decision-making by a contractor in terms of the project budget, economic feasibility and validity analysis, and alternative comparisons. Therefore, a high error rate of a prediction model for a conceptual cost estimate can lead to various problems including excessive project expenditures and a delayed break-even point. this study proposed optimal impact factors by configuring quantitative impact factors computable in a preliminary step in various cases(combinations of impact factors). subsequently, the accuracy of different cases was comparatively analyzed by using the cases as input values of a prediction model using regression analysis. when the optimal combination of impact factors proposed in this study and other combination of impact factors were applied to the prediction model, the regression analysis-based prediction model exhibited 0.2-4.7% improvements in accuracy, respectively. the optimal combination of impact factors proposed in this study improved the accuracy of the prediction model of a conceptual cost estimate by removing unnecessary impact factor.

Productivity estimation of construction operations is crucial to successful project delivery. Especially in the preconstruction phase, the adequacy and effectiveness of plans directly affect the actual performance of operations. Currently, productivity estimation is conducted by referring to existing references such as the Construction Standard Production Rate. However, it is difficult to promptly apply changing conditions of operations when using such references. Moreover, it is difficult to deduce the optimal combination of construction machinery for the given condition. This paper presents a simple simulation model that can be used to generate productivity data that considers site conditions and construction equipment combination. The suggested method is expected to be used as a decision making assisting tool for practitioners who rely on estimations using the Construction Standard Production Rate when establishing construction plans using heavy machinery such as backhoes, loaders and dumptrucks.

This study investigates the thermal conductivity and density of expanded polystyrene insulation materials collected from buildings under going energy retrofit projects. Due to the absence of initial thermal conductivity data, determining precise long-term patterns was challenging. Analysis based on design documents revealed that expanded polystyrene insulation maintained consistent performance over ten years. Notably, the thermal conductivity measurements of insulation samples of the same grade and age varied significantly. Additionally, the insulation density was found to be substantially below the standard specified in the design documents. The results of the experiment indicate that performance management during both construction and operation phases is lacking. It is crucial to apply building commissioning, which involves performance verification throughout the building's life cycle, to properly evaluate building energy performance improvements, such as building energy retrofit projects.

Modular apartment houses are a relatively new approach to public housing in South Korea. While promising in terms of efficiency and potential cost benefits, initial occupancy and maintenance data highlight areas for improvement in quality control. Analysis of defects reported during occupancy and maintenance stages revealed a high prevalence of issues with wallpaper and flooring. This suggests a need for stricter quality control measures during the production and installation of these building components. Furthermore, maintenance data identified shortcomings in the waterproofing methods employed for roofs, as well as in the design and construction management of connections between the low-rise concrete frames and the modular units themselves, including balconies. These findings point towards the importance of meticulous design and rigorous construction management practices to ensure the long-term durability of these critical building elements. Finally, the research suggests that unifying responsibility for construction management by awarding contracts for both the frame and the modular units to a single company could improve overall quality control. This approach could potentially mitigate issues arising from divided responsibility and streamline communication channels. By addressing these quality control concerns, modular construction has the potential to become a more widely adopted and successful method for delivering public housing in South Korea.

Recently more and more construction projects have become high-rise, complex and intelligent. Accordingly, such projects require an integrated management system for tasks, with a lean approach to construction with work processes for management and productivity. In particular, Construction Information Technology (CIT) fields are concerned with Building Information Modeling (BIM), which represents the process of generating and managing building data during its life cycle. Constructability research has progressed for the project goal which is a cost-time-quality of optimization by integrated construction knowledge and experience. However, the current constructability process has not been performed efficiently, as the existing 2D drawings and papers lack consistent and accurate information, it is difficult to share the contents of work, and the use of information is inefficient. This study proposes that the reformation and enhancement of BIM-based constructability work process can lead to brilliant performance in the framework of the construction phase through achieving collaboration between the design team and the workers at the site.

For effective building maintenance, the collection and management of various maintenance date such as work history information and material information is required. Despite the introduction of information management technologies and systems to reduce the amount of maintenance work of buildings, which have become larger and more complex, the maintenance information is not being utilized properly. As an alternative, research on the introduction and utilization of BIM is being conducted continuously. However, the BIM models generated at the design phase are not utilized in practice due to a lack of architectural maintenance information. This study proposed a COBie document prototype to support BIM-based smart maintenance tasks performed by building managers. In order to formalize various types of maintenance work procedures, a BIM-based maintenance process model is presented in two categories: inspection and maintenance. Among the BIM attribute data of the BIM model generated at the design phase, the parameters corresponding to the maintenance necessary information for each basic process are derived. Based on this, we proposed a COBie document prototype consisting of seven spreadsheets. The results of a case study confirmed that the KBIMS library-based BIM model created at the design phase without the maintenance information can be used at the maintenance phase.

제10회 아카시아 토론회가 본 협회(KIRA) 주최로 오는 9월 13일부터 17일까지 인터컨티넨탈호텔 국제회의장에서 개최된다. "아시아에서의 기술, 전통 그리고 건축"을 주제로 열리는 이번 토론회에는 우리나라를 비롯해 중국, 일본 등 아시아지역 16개 회원국 대표단과 행사관계자, 그리고 일반참가자 등 약 1천여명이 참가해 아시아지역 건축사들간 유대를 강화하고 주제 토론을 통한 기술교류 및 건축정보를 교환하게 된다. 5박6일간의 일정으로 진행될 이번 행사는 토론회와 함께 공식행사로 아카시아 이사회와 교육위원회 회의가 열리며 아시아건축상 시상식과 각종 전시회, 건축탐방, 한국건축소개 등 다양한 부대행사가 열린다. 특히 "건축문화의 해"를 맞아 개최되는 이번 ARCASIA Forum 행사에는 지명도가 높은 외국 건축사들이 상당수 우리나라를 찾을 것으로 예상돼 많은 건축인들의 관심이 모아지고 있으며 아울러 한국에서의 대규모 국제행사 개최를 계기로 침체돼 있는 우리 건축계에 활력을 불어넣고 한국건축의 위상을 한단계 끌어 올리는 기회가 될 것으로 보인다. 그동안 우리 협회는 88년아카시아대회를 제외하고는 국제관련 행사가 주로 외국에서 열렸던 관계로 직접적으로 행사에 관계했던 인사나 일부 관심있는 국내 건축사 이외에는 아카시아의 성격과 역할 등에 대한 이해가 부족했고 그만큼 관련행사에 대한 관심도가 적었던 것 같다. 그러나 국제사회는 국가간의 개방과 정책에 따라 사회 전 분야에 걸쳐 새로운 시도가 이루어지고 있으며, 건축관련부문은 민간사업뿐 아니고 정부 조달시장까지도 개방되어 외국 업체가 참여하고 있는 실정이다. 건축설계 또한 시장개방의 압력을 직간접적으로 받고 있을 뿐 아니라 그것이 점차 현실로 다가오고 있다. 이같은 상황에서 우리 건축계는 지속적인 국제교류를 통해 세계 건축시장이 어떻게 변화되고 있는지를 확인하고 그에 대한 정보를 토대로 적절한 대처가 필요한 상황이다. 그동안 아카시아는 회원국의 현안에 대해 서로의 정보교환과 토론이 있었으며, 아시아 각국의 입장을 대변하여 서방세계와 의견교환을 통해 지속적인 대화를 해 왔다. 이와 관련하여 본지에서는 ARCASIA Forum의 서울개최를 계기로 ARCASIA에 대한 독자 여러분의 이해를 돕고자 아카시아의 연혁과 성격 그리고 관련행사 및 회의구성 등을 요약하여 소개하고 또한 지난 85년 이후 우리 협회가 한국대표로 참가해 활동한 내용 등을 정리해 이번호부터 게재코자 한다.

For deciding the profitability and feasibility of the construction project, the schematic estimation has to not only link the design decision-making but also estimate the cost with reliability. The prototype-based schematic estimation system was developed for easily linking with design-making and supports to evaluate the design alternatives in the design development stage but didn't consider the cost estimated by parameter and additional work items by users. This research presents the object-parameter based schematic estimation model in the design development stage that can lead to accurately estimate the cost by using historical data from the high-storied office buildings. For the development of the proposed model for schematic estimation, after analyzing and classifying the work items from the Bills of Quantities(BOQs) and drawings of historical data, this research proposed the methods of estimating cost in accordance with attributes of each work item. In addition, a case study is performed for the effectiveness as comparing the previous estimating method with the proposed model.
