  • This study was designed to examine the effects of integrated physical expressive activities on creativity in young children. Subjects of this study were 38 preschoolers at the age of 4 who consisted of both the experimental group of 18 children and the control group of 20 children. To measure the creativity of young children, this study adopted Figural Test A of Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT) as pre-and post-tests with both experimental and control group. The results showed that effects of integrated physical expressive activities varied by sub-dimensions of creativity; children's participation in integrated physical expressive activities was effective to improve openness, abstractness of titles, and elaboration even if overall creativity and fluency increased after their program participation. Also, originality was the only sub-dimension that was not improved. It implied that integrated physical expressive activities have partial positive effects on some sub-dimensions of creativity.

  • Storycrafting is a creative educational technique in Finland. Since 2011, storytelling approach of mathematics textbooks in South Korea can be regarded as opportunities for interesting learning of mathematics as well as its improper application to mathematics lessons. We need to revise and improve the storytelling method. The purpose of this study is to make a storycrafting program that encourages students to make mathematical stories for themselves and to analyze the effect of the storycrafting program on mathematical creativity and communication. To do so, we developed a storycrafting program of mathematics for sixth graders, which is composed of 33 lessons. And we applied them to one sixth class as experimental group. Through pre-test and post-test, their mathematical creativity and communication were tested. Based on the result of t-test, we can verify the statistical meaningful effect of the storycrafting program. This study contains some conclusions and suggestions.

  • Despite the important role of the transformational leadership and Creative Climate to achieve firms' sustainable competitive advantage, there has been limited empirical studies linking the transformational leadership and creative climate in employee's innovative performance. This study investigated the impact of transformational leadership on innovative performance based on employees of R&D department in IT services. This paper also investigated the mediating role of creative climate and moderating role of employee's innovative tendency in this relationship. Main findings of our empirical analysis are as follows. While the relationships between transformational leadership and innovative performance was positively associated, creative climate had positive effect on innovative performance. As expected, we also found that the creative climate had positively mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and innovative performance. Also, the innovative tendency has statistically significant moderating effect on this relationship. Based on the findings, we have suggested theoretical and practical implications while future research directions with limitations of the research are discussed.

  • One of the most controversial issues in contemporary research of creativity, whether a person"s creativity is domain-specific or domain-general, was investigated with 109 second grade children in the present study. The purposes of this study sere to empirically examine (1) the relationships among children's creative performances measured by three product-based assessments (story-telling, collage-making, and math word problems) in three domains, and (2) the relationships between children's general creative thinking sills, measured by two divergent thinking tests, and children's creative performances. The findings of this study support the position that creative ability in young children is rather (but not absolutely0 domain-specific. Children exhibited a range of creative ability across different domains rather than a uniform creative ability in diverse domains, indicating there is considerable intra-individual variation in creative ability by domain. Divergent thinking measures did not have great power in predicting creative performance in at least two of three, if not all, domains assessed in the study. It is implied from the study that it is not possible to reliably predict a child"s creative ability in one domain based on his/her creative ability in other domains or his/her overall divergent thinking ability. Implication of the study in connection with educational practices for gifted children is discussed.

  • The objective of this study was to search the effect of individual personality (big five personality) on creative behavior. In particular, we tried to find out how the individual characteristics of the students who are perceived as unique majors in university and students who are in non-art, music and physical education affect the creative behavior. To perform this, questionnaires were distributed to 150 university students in art, music and physical education and 150 non-art, music, and physical education university students in C University located in Gwangju Metropolitan City. 275 copies (91.7%) of valid questionnaires were used among them. As a result, extroversion, openness, Friendliness, and sincerity were found to affect creative behaviors, excluding neuroticism (emotional stability) among five factors of personality. Additional analysis was performed by departmentalizing the majors of respondents as art, music and physical education and non-art, music, and physical education. In the case of art, music and physical education, extroversion, openness, friendliness affected the creative behavior, and in the case of non-art, music and physical education, only extroversion and openness influenced creative behavior. This difference can be understood as the difference of habits according to major, and it has been proved that it is also similar to previous research results.
