Emotional Intelligence, Ego Resilience, Stress in Clinical Practice of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 감성지능, 자아탄력성, 임상실습스트레스)

  • The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence, ego resilience and stress in clinical practice of nursing students. The participants were 588 nursing students. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients. The mean scores for emotional intelligence 4.76(0.69), ego resilience 2.80(0.33), and stress in clinical practice 3.03(0.52) were above average. Emotional Intelligence was significantly different according to gender, satisfaction with nursing as a major, and satisfaction in clinical practice. Ego resilience was significantly different according to satisfaction with nursing as a major, satisfaction in clinical practice. Stress in clinical practice was significantly different according to gender, duration of clinical practice, satisfaction with nursing as a major, satisfaction in clinical practice, simulation practice, and main tutor in clinical practice. Significant correlations were found between emotional intelligence, ego resilience and stress in clinical practice. These findings indicate that there is a need to improve emotional intelligence and ego resilience to lessen stress in clinical practice of nursing students.

The Effect of Emotional Intelligence and Self-Efficacy on Clinical Competence of the Nursing Students (간호 대학생의 감성 지능과 자기 효능감이 임상수행능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study aimed to find the effect of emotional intelligence and self-efficacy on clinical competence of the Korean nursing students. A total of 199 nursing students participated in this study. Data collection was conducted through the use of questionnaires constructed to include Wong & Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS), General Self-efficacy Scale, and the Clinical Competence Scale. As a result, emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, and clinical competency of the Korean nursing students were found to be at moderate levels(Emotional intelligence: M=4.7, SD=0.81; Self-efficacy: M=3.2, SD=0.34; Clinical competency: M=3.4, SD=0.56). Also, the nursing students with higher grades and satisfaction on clinical practice were found to have significantly higher emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, and clinical competence. Moreover, there were significant positive correlations between emotional intelligence and clinical competency(r=.566, p<.001), self-efficacy and clinical competency(r=.440, p<.001). The factors affecting clinical competency were emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, and gender. They amounted to 49.3% in clinical competency. These results indicate a need to develop effective teaching methods and learning strategies to promote clinical competency of the nursing students.

  • This study was done to identify the relationship among smartphone addiction, emotional intelligence, critical thinking disposition and communication skill for nursing students. Subjects were 301 associate nursing students in Korea. The data were collected using self -report questionnaire from november 1 to november 30, 2016. Data were analyzed by frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation using SPSS Win 18.0. The score for Smartphone addiction was 2.84. Tolerance was the highest and Virtual world orientation was the lowest in the subdimension. 88.7% of the general user group, 9.6% of the potential risk user group and 1.7% of the high risk user group were in the order of the smartphone addiction. Smartphone addiction were significantly negative correlation with emotional intelligence and critical thinking disposition in nursing students. And the higher smartphone addiction was showed the lower emotional intelligence, critical thinking disposition. Smartphone addiction were no significantly correlation with communication skill in nursing students. Emotional intelligence were significantly positive correlation with critical thinking disposition and communication skill in nursing students. Therefore, To increase emotional intelligence and critical thinking disposition of nursing students, it is necessary to develop and test the program for decrease smartphone addiction of nursing students.

Affect of Emotional intelligence Caring efficacy and Resilience on Satisfaction on Clinical Practice in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 감성지능, 돌봄효능감, 회복탄력성이 임상실습만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the satisfaction with clinical practice, the emotional intelligence, the caring efficacy and the resilience of nursing students, and also to identify the factors affecting their satisfaction with clinical practice. The subjects of this study were 253 third and fourth year nursing students who had experience with clinical practice at 5 colleges in D and K cities and G do. The data was collected by using self-reported questionnaires from October 1 to November 23, 2018. The data was then analyzed using an independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis with the PASW/WIN 20.0 program. Satisfaction with clinical practice was significantly different according to satisfaction with nursing as a major. Satisfaction with clinical practice had significant correlations with emotional intelligence, caring efficacy and resilience. The factors affecting the satisfaction with clinical practice were caring efficacy, resilience and emotional intelligence, and the explanatory power of these models was 43.4%. Therefore, these results imply the need to develop education programs to improve caring efficacy, resilience and emotional intelligence, because all of these factors will contribute to the nursing students' satisfaction of clinical practice.

  • The Purpose of This Study was to Identify The Relation of Emotional Intelligence, Self-leadership, Professional Quality of Life among Clinical Nurses. Participants were 197 Nurses Drawn from a General Hospital in Busan, Ulsan, & Gyungnam. Mean, Standard Deviation, Independent t-test, One way ANOVA and Correlation with SPSS/Win 23.0 Program were Used for Data Analysis. The Mean score Emotional Intelligence was 4.68/7, Self-leadership was 3.35/5. Professional Quality of Life was 2.98/5. Professional Quality of life is Consisted of 3 Subcategories as Compassion Satisfaction, Secondary Traumatic Stress and Burn out. 19.8% of The Participants Reported a High ProQOL (Compassion Satisfaction more than 75%, Burn out less than 25% & Secondary Traumatic Stress less than 25%). Compassion Satisfaction was Positively Correlated Emotional Intelligence and Self-leadership. Burn out was Negatively Correlated Emotional Intelligence and Self-leadership. Emotional Intelligence was Positively Correlated Self-leadership. On the Basis of Result, Program Development are Required to Improve Compassion Satisfaction, Emotional Intelligence and Self-leadership on Clinical Nurses.

Effect of Emotional Intelligence and Social Support on Resilience of Student Nurses (간호대학생의 감성지능, 사회적지지가 회복탄력성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the emotional intelligence and social support in relation to resilience in order to identify the factors influencing resilience in student nurses. The participants were 228 student nurses from two colleges in B City. The data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, Scheffe test and multiple regression analysis by SPSS ver. 21.0. The mean score for emotional intelligence, social support, and resilience level was 5.36 out of 7 points, 4.13 out of 5 point, and 2.68 out of 4 points, respectively. Resilience was positively correlated with emotional intelligence (r=.665, p<.001) and social support (r=.495, p<.001). The results of this research suggest that social support is an important variable affecting resilience in student nurses. The factors affecting resilience were social support (${\beta}=.464$, p<.001), emotional intelligence (${\beta}=.169$, p=.004), and aptitude (${\beta}=.162$, p=.006). Resilience explained 50.4% of the variance in social support, emotional support, and aptitude. To increase the resilience of student nurses, managers need to develop resilience programs and training for managing social support, emotional intelligence, and aptitude.

The convergence Influence of nurse's emotional intelligence, Job Engagement and interpersonal relationship on moral sensitivity (간호사의 감성지능, 직무열의, 도덕적 민감성이 대인관계능력에 미치는 융합적 영향)

  • This study is aiming tu clarify the factors that influence the interpersonal relationship of nurses and to use them as basic data for the development of educational programs to help nurse 's interpersonal relationship in the clinical field. The subjects were 179 nurses working at 3 hospitals B city and Y city. The results showed that the interpersonal relationship of the subjects were 3.51 points out of 5 points, emotional intelligence had 3.44 points out of 5 points, job enthusiasm was 3.15 points out of 5 points, and moral sensitivity was 4.5 points out of 7 points. The emotional intelligence (${\beta}=.551$, p = .000) was the predictor for the nurse's interpersonal relationship, and emotional intelligence was 37.3% explained by interpersonal relationship of the nurse. In conclusion, higher emotional intelligence, job engagement, and moral sensitivity of nurses showed higher interpersonal relationship, Emotional intelligence was the factor influencing interpersonal relationship. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an educational program to enhance the emotional intelligence of individual nurses to improve interpersonal skills of nurses.

The effect of Job stress on Burnout of Wee Counseling Specialists : Focusing on Mediating effect of Competency and Emotional intelligence (Wee업무 상담전문인력의 직무스트레스가 소진에 미치는 영향 : 직무역량과 감성지능 매개효과 중심)

  • This study is a descriptive research to identify the effects of job stress, competency, and emotional intelligence on burnout and the mediating effects of competency and emotional intelligence in Wee counseling professionals. The subjects of the study were 104 counseling professionals in charge of Wee work in the G-do area, and data were collected from February to April 2023. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, regression analysis, and Sobel test. As a result of the study, job stress and competency of Wee counseling professionals had a significant effect on burnout, and competency had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between job stress and burnout, and the explanatory power was 45.6% (Z=2.96, p=. 003). In addition, job stress and emotional intelligence had a significant effect on burnout, and the explanatory power was 44.8%, and there was no mediating effect of emotional intelligence. Based on these results, we can contribute to the reduction of burnout by interventions that lower job stress and improve competency and emotional intelligence of Wee work counseling professionals, in addition, it is suggested that a systematic plan should be established and provided to include interventions for competency improvement in job stress reduction interventions.

The Influence of Emotional Intelligence and resilience on Burnout of University Sports Athletes

  • This research intends the provide the influence of emotional intelligence and resilience on burnout of University sports athletes. For this purpose, purposive sampling method was used. The subject of this study were 257 University sports athletes from Korea. Data were collected through the self-administrated questionaire which were used by preceding study. The frequency analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to solve the research problems in this study. The conclusion were drawn as follows. First the emotion intelligence influenced to resilience significantly. Second, the emotion intelligence influenced to burnout partially. Third, the resilience influenced to burnout partially.

  • This study is designed to examine how emotional intelligence and cognitive intelligence affect customer satisfaction (social satisfaction, economic satisfaction) and long-term relational orientation of a service provider. The results of the study revealed that both cognitive intelligence of a service provider and economic satisfaction of customers have a positive relationship with longterm relational orientation, while only use and control of emotions except understanding emotions in the self and in others among emotional intelligence of a service provider have a positive, significant effect on social satisfaction of customers. As mentioned above, it can be said that the study is much more significant, at this point where previous studies failed to sufficiently recognize the importance and necessity of studies on emotional intelligence of a service provider. Moreover, the study is expected to provide useful foundations for training and development of employees in the service industry in practice.
