Targeting Algorithm for Personalized Message Syndication (개인 맞춤형 메시지 신디케이션을 위한 타겟팅 알고리즘)

  • Personalized message syndication is an important process for maximizing the effect of mobile marketing. This paper proposes an algorithm for determining clients satisfying target conditions in real-time. The proxy server as an intermediate node stores client profiles (gender, age, location, etc) and their respective summaries into a database. When a company syndicates messages at run time, the proxy server maps target conditions expressed by boolean expressions to integer value and determines target clients by comparing target value with profile summary. Thus, this approach provides efficient personalized message syndication in very large systems with millions of clients because it can determine target clients in real-time and work with a traditional database easily.

  • 사이버 공간이 현실 생활의 일부분으로 통합되어가고 사이버 공간에서의 대인간 의사소통이 보편적인 현상으로 나타남에 따라 사이버 공간에서의 의사소통과 경험 그리고 그것의 영향력에 대한 논의는 그 동안 많이 있어왔다. 그러나 기존의 연구들은 사용자의 행동 특성에 따라 사이버 공간에서의 활동과 영향력, 그리고 그 의미가 달라진다는 점을 간과하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 동일한 커뮤니케이션 공간인 싸이월드도 그것에 부여하는 가치와 의미는 사람마다 다르고 따라서 행동도 다를 것이라는 가정하에, 싸이월드에서 나타나는 다양한 이용행동과 활동들을 유형으로 분류하고 그 유형에 따라 싸이월드에서의 의사소통 패턴과 경험, 활동에서의 차이를 살펴보고자 했다. 사전 연구로 진행되었던 사용자 인터뷰를 통해 정리된 행동문항을 전체 설문을 통해 분석한 결과 싸이월드에서 보이는 개인의 행동적 특성을 의미하는 5 개 요인(적극성.몰입, 낯선 사람과의 연결과 정보 추구, 사생활 보호, 단순한 연락 수단, 폐쇄성)이 확인되었고, 이렇게 추출된 행동 요인을 토대로 싸이월드에서 나타나는 3 개의 행동 유형(적극적 활용형, 폐쇄적. 다이어리 추구형, 새로운 관계.정보 추구형)이 구분되었다. 행동 요인의 차이로 표현되는 3 개의 행동 유형에 따른 싸이월드에서의 의사소통 패턴과 싸이월드에서의 활동 그리고 싸이월드 경험에 대한 평가를 분석한 결과 행동 유형간에 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 동일한 싸이월드라는 공간이 사용자가 추구하는 가치와 목적에 따라 각기 다른 공간으로 기능하고 있음을 보여주었다는 데에 의의가 있으며, 가치의 차이로 나타나는 행동 유형에 따라 싸이월드에서 소통하는 대상과 방식이 달라지고 경험의 의미 또한 달라질 수 있음을 시사하고 있다.

  • We have experienced a substantial improvement in and cost-drop for genotyping that enables genetic epidemiological studies with large-scale genetic data. Genome-wide association studies have identified more than ten thousand causal variants. Many statistical methods based on linear mixed models have been developed for various goals such as estimating heritability and identifying disease susceptibility locus. Empirical results also repeatedly stress the importance of linear mixed models. Therefore, we review the statistical methods related with to linear mixed models and illustrate the meaning of their estimates.

  • Thanks to the development of IT technology, there have been developed a variety of types of portable music players. IT technology didn't stop there, however. It has gone to developing GUIs (Graphic User Interfaces) to deliver more information to the user. As the function of GUIs has become important, the music players are being required to show characteristics of the sounds they output visually beyond just delivering the sounds through analyzing the information that the sounds contain. To visualize the information of sounds, that is to say, has become substantial. In this process, sound graphic equalizers have been developed in order. The object of this study is to produce a new sound graphic equalizer with new forms of expressing visual images of sounds besides the bar graphs, in which user feedback is possible. This study has devised a new sound visualization form in visually expressing the information of sounds by analyzing their characteristics. This new sound visualization provides a sound graphic equalizer with which the user can select images for the information of the sounds s/he listens. This study suggests a new alternative GUI with which the user can change the form of the outputted images in realtime as communicating with the player.

Studying the Genetic Diversity and Phenetic Relationships of Porphyra yezoensis Populations in Korea Using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) (RAPD를 이용한 한국 김 집단의 유전적 다양성과 표현형 관계)

  • Porphyra yezoensis is a red algal species in the genus Porphyra. The phenetics and genetic diversity of four populations of P. yezoensis in Korea were reconstructed using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. Overall, 55 fragments were generated among the tested P. yezoensis array with 20 OPERON primers. A total of 30(54.5%) of these bands were polymorphic. The OPA-18-02 band was amplified in the samples of Nakdong population and absent in them of other three populations. The OPA-20-02 band was only amplified in the Seocheon population. Both bands exhibited distinctive patterns in specific populations. The effective number of alleles per locus (Ae) ranged from 1.161 to 1.293 with a mean of 1.366. The Seocheon population had a high expected diversity (0.163). The Nakdong population was an isolated endemic and intertidal zone. Thus the narrow distributed Nakdong population had a low expected diversity (0.092). Shannon's index of phenotypic diversity (I) of the Seocheon population (0.238) was the highest among all populations. Total genetic diversity ($H_T$) varied between 0.132 for OPA-02 and 0.420 for OPA-19. The interlocus variation of genetic diversity ($H_S$) was 0.059 for OPA-18 and 0.339 for OPA-19. On a per locus basis, the proportion of total genetic variation due to differences among populations ($G_{ST}$) ranged from 0.012 for OPA-11 to 0.762 for OPA-18 with a mean of 0.415, indicating that 42% of the total variation was found among these populations. In an assessment of the proportion of diversity present within this species, 58.5% (100%-41.5%) of genetic variation resided within the populations studied. The Nm was estimated to be low (0.705).

  • Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) is caused by SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory SyndromeCoronavirus 2). To date, seven coronaviruses that can infect humans were reported. Among them, infections with four coronavirus strains (HCoV-229E, HCoV-OC43, HCoV-NL63, and HCoV-HKU1) resulted in mild symptoms such as common cold, whereas SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV caused severe symptoms and epidemics in 2002 and 2012, respectively. In the most recent, SARS-CoV-2 was first reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and became a notorious cause of the ongoing global pandemics. To diagnose, treat, and prevent COVID-19, the development of rapid and accurate diagnostic tools, specific therapeutic drugs, and safe vaccines essentially are required. In order to develop these powerful tools, it is prerequisite to understand a phenotype, a genotype, and life cycle of SARS-CoV-2. Diagnostic techniques have been developing rapidly around world and many countries take the fast track system to accelerate approval. Approved diagnostic devices are rapidly growing facing to urgent demand to identify carriers. Currently developed commercial diagnostic devices are divided into mainly two categories: molecular assay and serological & immunological assay. Molecular assays begins the reverse transcription step following polymerase chain reaction or isothermal amplification. Immunological assay targets SARS-CoV-2 antigen or anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody of samples. In this review, we summarize the phenotype, genome structure and gene expression of SARS-CoV-2 and provide the knowledge on various diagnostic techniques for SARS-CoV-2.

Cost Effective Plasma Display Panel TV Driving system with an address misfiring compensation circuit (어드레스 오방전 보상 저가형 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널 TV 구동 시스템)

  • Plasma display panel (PDP) televisions are facing to have a new chance to receive attention along with a boom in 3-D software and contents because PDP can provide the comfortable and realistic 3-D images. The PDP has three driving circuit boards such as X, Y and addressing boards. Cost effective driving waveform has already been reported to decrease the number of driving circuit board. Half bridge based sustaining driver can remove a sustaining driver in the X board. However, the biasing circuit in the X driving boards cannot be reduced because there are some drawbacks such as unstable gas discharge condition and unreliability of an address driver IC. In this paper, the half bridge based sustaining driver is considered and a simple address driver is proposed to remove one driving board, X driving board. The stable gas discharge condition, reliability of the address driver IC and the low cost can be obtained by the proposed circuit.

A Study on the Development of English Inflectional Morphemes Based on the CHILDES Corpus (CHILDES 코퍼스를 기반으로 한 아동의 영어 굴절형태소 발달 연구)

  • The goal of this paper is to test the findings about English-speaking children's acquisition of inflectional morphemes in the literature using a large-scale database. For this, we obtained a 4.7-million-word corpus from the CHILDES (Child Language Data Exchange System) database, and analyzed 1,630 British and American children's uses of English derivational morphemes up to age 7. We analyzed the type and token frequencies, type per token ratio (TTR), and the lexical diversity (D) for such inflectional morphemes as the present progressive -ing, the past tense -(e)d, the comparative and superlative -er/est with reference to children's nationality and age groups. To sum up our findings, the correlations between the D value and children's age varied from morpheme to morpheme; e.g. we found no correlation for -ing, a marginal correlation for -ed, and a strong correlation for -er/-est. Our findings are consistent with Brown's (1973) classical observation that children learn progressive forms earlier than the past tense marker. In addition, overgeneralization errors were frequently found for -ed, but rarely for -ing, showing a U-shaped developmental pattern at ages 2-3. Finally, American children showed higher D scores than British children, which showed that American children used inflectional morphemes for more word types compared with British children. The present study has its significance in testing the earlier findings in the literature by setting up well-defined methodology for analyzing the entire CHILDES database.

Studies on Polymorphism of Transferrin of Serum Proteins in Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) (Tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus)의 혈청과 단백질의 transferrin의 다형현상에 관한 연구)

  • This study was taken to isolate transferrin fractions from the sera of tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus) by physico-chemical analyses such as the rivanol precipitation, iron-staining method, SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and $^{59}FeCl_3$ autoradiography, and to calculate gene frequencies by using Hardy-Weinberg Law. The results obtained in this experiment were summarized as follow : 1. The transferrin fraction is composed of several components possessing relative lower electrophoretic mobilities and higher molecular sizes than the albumin components. 2. When different staining method was compared with transferrin in band, it was not found difference. 3. It was concluded that the optimun ratio of rivanol to serum was 2 : 1 and this ratio was used in all further fractionation. 4. The molecular weight of transferrin component was about 70,000 $\pm$ 2,000. 5. Tilapia transferrin fractionations were found to be polymorphic. 6. There transferrin variants(A, B and C) have been found in tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus) and Tf types were assumed to be controlled by three codominant alleles Tf A, Tf B and Tf C. Six different phenotypes can be theoretically expected Tf AA, Tf AB, Tf AC, Tf BB, Tf BC, and Tf CC. Only five types of these were observed and Tf CC types(homozygotes) was not found. 7. The frequencies of the three allele Tf A, Tf B and Tf C were 0.795, 0.15 and 0.055 respectively.

Research on the Semiotic Analysis of Father Characters' Paternity in Korean Films (한국 영화에 나타난 아버지 캐릭터의 부성성에 대한 기호학적 연구)

  • In the history, 'father' has been described as a being who not only take care of the family but also represents the family socially and supports them. Like the Western patriarchal tradition prevalent in the 19th century, fathers in Korean society also bear patriarchal paternity based on Korean traditional Confucian culture. In such a unique family culture of Korea, Korean fathers hold the patriarchal male centered idea and regard it as the roles of man and father to be responsible for the family's living and safety and to be more rational than emotional and more blunt than gentle. Social ideology for this image of father is expressed in media, and an example is the patriarchal image of father in TV dramas and movies. In order to analyze the image of Korean fathers described in films, this study selected two films and examined the semiological meanings of fathers' roles expressed in the films using Metz's syntagmatic and paradigmatic analysis method. The films chosen for case study are 'Fly Daddy', 'The Show Must Go On', and 'Speed Scandal'. These films are good examples demonstrating that Korean patriarchal paternity and its background traditional ideology are projected on media.
