Ego resilience, Empathic Ability and Interpersonal relationship ability in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자아탄력성, 공감능력과 대인관계능력)

  • This study examines the relationships among ego resilience, empathic ability, and interpersonal relationship ability in nursing students. Data were collected through a self-reported questionnaire from November 2 to December 11, 2015. The subjects consisted of 299 nursing students who were selected using a convenience sampling method. Stepwise multiple regression revealed that ego resilience (${\beta}=.488$, p<.001) and empathic ability (${\beta}=.378$, p<.001) were significant predictors and accounted for 47.2% of interpersonal relationship ability. It is meaningful that ego resilience affects interpersonal relationship ability. Therefore, ego resilience and empathic ability need to be increased by efficient management and intervention to facilitate interpersonal relationship ability in nursing students.

The Effects of ADHD Tendency on Depression among College Students: Mediation Effect of Interpersonal Problem (대학생의 ADHD 경향이 우울에 미치는 영향: 대인관계 문제의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of interpersonal problem on the relationship between ADHD tendency and depression in college students. Data collection started from October to November in 2020 and the duration of data collection was about 1 month. College students were administered questionnaires of ADHD tendency, depression, and interpersonal problem scales. Data from 201 college students were analyzed with structural equation model using SPSS and AMOS program. The results indicated that there were significant positive correlations among ADHD tendency, depression, and interpersonal problem in college students. And there was a full mediation effect of interpersonal problem on the relationship between ADHD tendency and depression in college students. The result suggests ADHD tendency do not directly influence on depression but ADHD tendency influence on depression through interpersonal problem in college students. Current findings can contribute to the counseling and clinical field by providing the strategy of reducing interpersonal problem to prevent the depression and enhance the psychological health of those who have ADHD tendency in college students.

The Influence of Experience of Nurses' Incivility and Social Anxiety on Emotional Labor in Nursing Students during Clinical Practice (간호대학생이 임상실습 중 경험하는 간호사의 무례함, 대인불안이 감정노동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined effects of experience of nurses' incivility and social anxiety on emotional labor in nursing students during clinical practice. The participants were 161 nursing students in universities located in G province and C province. Data were collected from November 19 to December 15, 2018 through self reported structured questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise regression. Experience of nurses' incivility correlated positively with social anxiety and emotional labor. Social anxiety was positively correlated with emotional labor. Participants' experience of incivility and social anxiety explained 21.9% of variance in emotional labor among nursing students. The findings indicate that experience of nurses' incivility and social anxiety are important factors to be considered in working to reduce emotional labor. Therefore, systematic programs to effectively manage and response the incivility problems in clinical practice and reduce social anxiety level should be developed.

Relationship Between Physical Self-concept, Interpersonal Relationship Satisfaction, and Sociality of Students Participating in Elementary School Dance Education Activities (초등학교 무용교육활동에 참여하는 학생의 신체적 자기 개념과 대인관계 만족 및 사회성의 관계)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between physical self-concept, interpersonal relationship satisfaction, and sociality in 250 elementary school students participating in dance education activities. Using IBM SPSS 21.0 and IBM AMOS 21.0 programs, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability Analysis, correlation analysis and structural model analysis. First, physical self-concept has a statistically significant effect on interpersonal relationship satisfaction. Second, physical self-concept had a statistically significant statistical effect on sociality. Third, interpersonal relationship satisfaction showed a statistically significant effect on sociality. In conclusion, it shows that educating elementary school students to have desirable physical self-concepts can lead to interpersonal relationship satisfaction and formation of sociality.

The Effect of Covert Narcissism of Nursing Students on Nursing Professionalism : Mediating effect of Perceived Social Support and Interpersonal Competence (간호대학생의 내현적 자기애가 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향 : 지각된 사회적 지지와 대인관계능력의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of perceived social support and interpersonal competence on the effects of covert narcissism on nursing professionalism of nursing students. For this purpose, 375 nursing students from three colleges in J province were sampled for convenience. The result of this study were as follows: First, the fix indexed of causal model among covert narcissism, nursing professionalism, perceived social support and interpersonal competence were identified suitably. Second, covert narcissism of nursing students directly affected interpersonal competence and perceived social support, which was statistically significant. Third, interpersonal competence showed mediating effects in relationship between covert narcissism and nursing professionalism. Fourth, the interpersonal competence of nursing students directly affected perceived social support and nursing professionalism. Based on the results of the research, it is necessary to develop an intervention program that can enhance interpersonal competence in order to strengthen nursing professionalism of nursing students.

Effects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT) on Assertiveness and Interpersonal Anxiety of University Students with Interpersonal Anxiety (수용-전념 치료(ACT)가 대인불안이 있는 대학생들의 주장성과 대인불안에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore effects of acceptance-­commitment therapy on assertiveness and interpersonal anxiety of university students with interpersonal anxiety. Twelve students are selected of three hundred thirty students who completed an assertiveness sacle and a social anxiety scale, and finally six students were assigned to an experiment group and the others to a control group. ACT program consisting of 8 sessions twice a week approximately 120minutes is provided for experiment group, on the other hand, nothing is provided for control group. All participants completed an assertiveness sacle, a social anxiety scale at pre-­test, post-­test, and 6 weeks follow­-up periods. In the experimental group, the assertiveness score was improved after ACT program but not in the control group. The improvement observed in the experimental group was maintained until the follow-­up test. In the anxiety test, the experimental group showed a larger decrease than the control group, and the difference was also found in the follow­-up test. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study, along with suggestions for future study were discussed.

The Mediating Effects of Difficulties in Emotion Regulation between Anger Expression and Interpersonal Problems of College Students (분노표현과 대인관계문제에서 정서조절곤란의 매개효과)

  • This study identifies the relationship between the anger expression and interpersonal problems of college students, and then confirms the influence on emotion regulation difficulties as a mediating effect. And, it was conducted to understand college students who complain of interpersonal problems and to provide basic data for developing programs that can solve their problems. As a result of the study, anger expression showed a positive correlation in interpersonal relations problem and emotion regulation difficulty, and interpersonal relations problem showed somewhat high positive correlation with emotion regulation difficulty. In addition, it was found that emotion control difficulties were partially mediated in the anger expression among college students and interpersonal relationships. In conclusion, we could see the need for future research to develop educational programs that reduce the difficulty of emotion control and lead to positive anger expression among college students, and intervention programs that can improve interpersonal relationships.

The Relationship between Male Adolescents' ADHD Traits and Life Satisfaction: Focused on Mediating Effect of Interpersonal Initiation and Internet Game Addiction (남자 청소년의 ADHD성향과 삶의 만족 간의 관계: 대인관계 형성과 인터넷 게임중독의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to analyze the relationship between ADHD trait and life satisfaction among male adolescents, and to examine the mediating effect of interpersonal initiation and internet game addiction on that relationship. The participants were 285 male students from middle and high schools. For this study, World Health Organization ADHD Self-Report Scale, Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire, Internet Gaming Use-Elicited Symptom Screen, and Satisfaction with Life Scale were used. PROCESS Macro 3.5 Model 4 was used to analyze a double mediating effect. Results revealed that male adolescents' ADHD trait was negatively correlated with interpersonal initiation and life satisfaction, while it was positively correlated with their internet game addiction. And, male adolescents' interpersonal initiation was positively correlated with life satisfaction, whereas internet game addiction was negatively correlated with life satisfaction. In addition, male adolescents' interpersonal initiation and game addiction were mediating ADHD trait and life satisfaction. These findings suggest that the interpersonal initiation and game addiction should be treated to improve life satisfaction of male adolescents with high ADHD trait.

Relationship between the perceived Stress and College Life Adjustment in Nursing Students : Interpersonal Relationship Ability (간호대학생의 지각된 스트레스와 대학생활적응의 관계: 대인관계능력의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between perceived stress, college life adjustment, and interpersonal relationship ability in nursing college students and investigate whether or not interpersonal relationship ability mediate the relationship between perceived stress and college life adjustment. Data were collected from 281 nursing students in B city and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple regression, and sobel test using SPSS/WIN 23.0. The degree of college life adjustment in nursing students was 3.38±0.58. There was negative correlation between college life adjustment and perceived stress(r=-.478, p<.001), positive correlation between college life adaptation and interpersonal relationship ability(r=.617, p<.001). The interpersonal relationship ability had partial mediating(β=.629, p<.001) effect between perceived stress and college life adjustment among nursing students. Therefore, in order to promote college life adjustment of nursing students, and decrease perceived stress, it is necessary to development education and program that to improve interpersonal relationship ability.

Depression and Interpersonal Competence in University Students: The Moderating Effect of Rejection Sensitivity (대학생의 우울과 대인관계능력의 관계: 거부민감성의 조절효과)

  • This study was conducted to identify the moderating effect of rejection sensitivity in the relationship between depression and interpersonal competence in university students. Data collection was conducted from September to October 2020, and 184 students attending universities in D City and C province in Korea completed the self-report questionnaire. The collected data were subjected to Pearson's correlation and hierarchical regression analysis using the SPSS 26.0 program. In this study, depression and rejection sensitivity of university students were identified as significant influencing factors on interpersonal competence, and rejection sensitivity confirmed a moderating effect on the relationship between depression and interpersonal competence. The results of this study provide basic data on the mechanisms of action between depression, rejection sensitivity, and interpersonal competence of university students, and suggest that elements of depression and rejection sensitivity should be included in intervention programs to improve university students' interpersonal competence. Based on the results of this study, we suggest a study for the development of an effective individualized intervention program that can improve the interpersonal competence of university students.
