Purpose: Correct estimation of Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is very important for an accurate clinical assessment of the kidney function. This study compares four GFR markers, a serum creatinine-based estimation using MDRD formula, Cystatin-C, Cr-51 EDTA 2 samples and 6 samples. Materials and Methods: Serum creatinine concentrations, Cystatin-C serum concentrations and Cr-51 EDTA clearance are measured in 43 patients who received or donated kidney. Results: The correlation coefficient between serum based estimated GFR (MDRD) and Cr-51 EDTA 6 samples was 0.817 (p<0.01). The correlation coefficient between Cystatin-C based GFR and EDTA 6 samples was 0.7322 (p<0.01). Regression analysis showed a statistically significant correlation between Cr-51 EDTA 2 samples and 6 samples (r=0.971, p<0.01). Mean value and ${\pm}2SD$ for the difference between Cr-51 EDTA 2 samples and 6 samples were 4.7 mL/min and ${\pm}9.3$ respectively. Conclusions: The estimation of two samples Cr-51 EDTA showed that the method can be simplified by reducing blood samples without losing its high accuracy.
Films of CrN, $Cr_{40}Zr_9N$, and $Cr_{31}Zr_{16}N$ were deposited on a steel substrate by closed field unbalanced magnetron sputtering, and their oxidation behaviors at $700^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ for up to 60h in air were investigated. All the deposited films were composed of the CrN phase. Zirconium atoms in $Cr_{40}Zr_9N$ and $Cr_{31}Zr_{16}N$ films partially dissolved in the CrN phase. They advantageously refined the columnar structure, reduced the surface roughness, and increased the microhardness. The CrN film displayed relatively good oxidation resistance, owing to the formation of the highly protective $Cr_2O_3$ on its surface. The $Cr_{40}Zr_9N$ and $Cr_{31}Zr_{16}N$ films oxidized to $Cr_2O_3$ as the major phase and ${\alpha}-ZrO_2$ as the minor one. They oxidized primarily by the inward transport of oxygen. The addition of Zr could not increase the oxidation resistance of the CrN film, because the formed $ZrO_2$ that was intermixed in the $Cr_2O_3$-rich oxide layer was oxygen permeable, and developed the compressive stress in the oxide scale owing to the volume expansion during its formation.
The stability of ZnO-$Pr_{6}O_{11}$-CoO-$Cr_{2}O_{3}-Dy_{2}O_3$ based varistors with d.c. stress were investigated. ZnO varistor doped with 4.0 mol% $Dy_{2}O_3$ exhibited the highest nonlinear exponet, but stability was very poor because of low density. In particular, the varistor containing 0.5 mol% $Dy_{2}O_3$ showed very excellent V-I characteristic, which the nonlinear exponent was 67.39 and leakage current was 1.18 ${\mu}A$, and high stability.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the castability of Ni-Cr alloys for crown and bridge. New young, Hi-Crown and CB-80 which are widely used in dental laboratory were chosen, casting and increased the temperature of furnace 100$^{\circ}C$ of each 7 grades from 600$^{\circ}C$ to 1200$^{\circ}C$. The results are as follows : 1. CB-80 is the most prominent castability among the three Ni-Cr alloys which are Hi-Crown, New-young and Hi-Cr. 2. The good burning temperatures of casting for CB-8p are 900$^{\circ}C$, 100$^{\circ}C$ and 1100$^{\circ}C$ which are obtained four complate casting body of five former patterns. 3. The most proper burning temperature for three Ni-Cr alloys is 900$^{\circ}C$.
Fe-(8.5, 18.5, 28.3, 36.9) wt% Cr alloys were corroded between 600 and $800^{\circ}C$ for up to 70 h in a 1 atm gas mixture that consisted of 0.0242 atm of $H_2S$, 0.031 atm of water vapor, and 0.9448 atm of nitrogen gas. Their corrosion resistance increased with an increment in the Cr content. The Fe-8.5%Cr alloy corroded fast, forming thick, fragile, nonadherent scales that consisted primarily of an outer FeS layer and an inner (Fe, Cr, O, S)-mixed layer. The outer FeS layer grew into the air by the outward diffusion of $Fe^{2+}$ ions, whereas the inner mixed layer grew by the inward diffusion of oxygen and sulfur ions. At the interface of the outer and inner scales, voids developed and cracking occurred. The Fe-(18.5, 28.3, 36.9)% Cr alloys displayed much better corrosion resistance than the Fe-8.5Cr alloy, because thin $Cr_2O_3$ or $Cr_2S_3$ scales formed.
The standrd electrolyte for the electrodeposition of chromium were preparwith reagent grade chromic acid(200g/L), sulfuric acid(pH=1.8)and oxalic acalic acid(640g/L)as additive. Carbon content in chromium plating varied about2.0-3.8 wt% with current density and temperatures of the bath. The hardeness of chromium platings incresed with increasing the annealing temperatures and showed maximum value of about Hv 1700 after annealing at$ 700^{\circ}C$for 60min. But, decreased it as annealing at above $700^{\circ}C$. The reason for varing thee hardness of chromium codeposited with carbon gradually foumed chromium carbide(Cr7C3), but that changed to Cr23C6 as annealing temperature at above $^700{\circ}C$. The X-ray diffraction pattern indicated that chromium carbides, such as Cr7C3 or Cr3C2, formed at formed at above $300^{\circ}C$. titanium coating sputtered on the on surface of chromium plating had performed and determined the hardness after annealing at 500, 600, $700^{\circ}C$ for 60min. the maximum hardeness was about Hv 2400 as annealing at $700^{\circ}C$. The titanium carbide formed in layer was identified by X-ray diffraction. It was confirmed that chromium and titanium carbide has effect of increasing the hardness.
Titanium Chromium Nitrided (TiCrN) coatings were deposited on stainless steel 316 L and Si (100) wafer by inductively coupled plasma assisted D.C. magnetron sputtering at the various sputtering power on Cr target and $N_2/Ar$ gas ratio. Increasing the sputtering power of Cr target, XRD patterns were changed from TiCrN to nitride $Cr_2Ti$. The maximum hardness was $Hk_{3g}$ 3900 at $0.3\;N_2/Ar$ gas ratio. The thickness of the TiCrN films increased as the Cr target power increased, and it showed over $Hk_{5g}3100$ hardness at 100 W, 150 W. TiCrN films were deposited by the ICP assisted DC magnetron sputtering shown good wear resistance as the $N_2/Ar$ gas ratio was 0.1, 0.3.
Ni/Cr thin film is very interesting material as thin film resistors, filaments, and humidity sensors because their relatively large resistivity, more resistant to oxidation and a low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR). These interesting properties of Ni/Cr thin films are dependent upon the preparation conditions including the deposition environment and subsequent annealing treatments. Ni/Cr thin films of 250 nm were deposited by DC magnetron sputtering on $Al_2O_3/Si$ substrate with 2-inch Ni/Cr (80/20) alloy target at room temperature for 45 minutes. Annealing treatments were performed at $400^{\circ}C,\;500^{\circ}C,\;and\;600^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours in air or $H_2$ ambient, respectively. The clear crystal boundaries without crystal growth and the densification were accomplished when the pores were disappeared in air ambient. Most of surface was oxidic including NiO, $Ni_2O_3$ and $Cr_xO_y$(x=1,2, y=2,3) after annealing in air ambient. The crystal growth in $H_2$ ambient was formed and stabilized by combination with each other due to the suppression of oxidized substance on film surface. Most oxidic Ni was restored when the oxidic Cr was present due to its stability in high-temperature $H_2$ ambient.
The electrode materials for welding machine in automobile industry such as Cu-Cr, Cu-Zr and Cu-$Al_2O_3$ require the high electrical conductivity and the proper hardness. Therefore the effects of solution heat treatment and aging treatment on the electrical conductivity and hardness of Cu-0.8wt%Cr and Cu-1.2wt%Cr alloys have been investigated. Cu-0.8wt%Cr alloy showed the higher electrical conductivity and hardness than Cu-1.2wt%Cr alloy and both alloys showed the better electrical conductivity at $930^{\circ}C$ among 930, 980 and $1030^{\circ}C$ solution heat treatment temperatures. The electrical conductivity and hardness in both alloys were not affected by aging treatment but remarkably affected by solution heat treatment temperature. The final drawing process reduced electrical conductivity and increased hardness more in Cu-1.2wt%Cr alloy.
