$\ulcorner$Aheuichaulyo御醫撮要$\lrcorner$ was known to be published by Choi Jong-jun崔宗峻 in Korea高麗 Dynasty(A.D.1226), however its original copy is not available at the present. It was thought that Korean folk medicine and the remedies were recorded in this book, and these were recorded in $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui醫方類聚$\lrcorner$ published in Chosun 朝鮮 dynasty(1445). $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$ is called a treasure-house of the knowledge of traditional oriental medicine which contains over 50,000 prescriptions and enormous amount of medical information. The restoration of $\ulcorner$Aheuichaulyo$\lrcorner$was possible during the process of establishment of data base work of $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$. $\ulcorner$Aheuichaulyo$\lrcorner$ was restored as 131 chapters mainly from the related contents of $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$ and partially from the contents of $\ulcorner$Hyangyakjipsungbang鄕藥集成方$\lrcorner$ and $\ulcorner$Boonmoononyukyihaebang分門瘟易解方$\lrcorner$ for the supplement.

$\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui醫方類聚$\lrcorner$ (1445) is regarded as a treasure-house of the knowledge of traditional oriental medicine which contains over 50,000 prescriptions and enormerous amount of medical information. Despite the importance and information contained in this book, it has been rarely used since it was not convenient to use this book. In this study, therefore, the establishment of database on $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$ was carried out. Before the database establishment of $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$ , basic works such as correction, interpretation, proofreading and translation of original text should be done. The results obtained in this study are summaried as follows : 1) During the course of studying the original text of $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$ , the editing process and transmission of medical books in early Chosun dynasty was figured out. 2) For better correction, interpretation, proofreading and translation of $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$ , $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$ microfilms which are the collection of Japanese Royal Library (宮內廳 圖書寮) were obtained in this study. Through this process, the errors in the republication were able to be corrected. 3) Analyzing the organization and compilatory method of $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$ is one of the basic requirements of understanding the scale of the whole. book and establishing database as a result. So the analysis results were used for the basic structuring of database. 4) $\ulcorner$Euibangyoochui$\lrcorner$ CD- ROM was designed in a way that the images of microfilms, original text and Korean translation can be compared by 3-D device. In addition, the convenience and proficiency of imaging the information and prescriptions of the text is one of the remarkable features of this CD-ROM.

We explicate the forming mechanism of Sasang constitution as the principle of energy distribution which is based on the evolutionary hypothesis. The result was obtained as follows: 1. The principle of form-image (形象) in oriental medicine can be explained with the relation between structure and function that a life acquires through the adaptation and evolution. 2. The Sung-jung (性情) in Sasang constitutional medicine can be explained as the strategy for survival or the pattern of adaptation by which an individual or a species lives in this world. 3. The forming mechanism of Sasang constitutional organic phase (臟局) can be explained as the principle of energy distribution which includes three hypothesis (hypothesis of limited resources, hypothesis of preference and hypothesis of effectiveness). 4. It is postulated that the local hemodynamics is one of the most important factors that determine the difference of Sasang constitutional organic function. 5. The relation of metabolic rate, local hemodynamics and thermo-metabolism is inseparable and it is the important point of forming mechanism of Sasang constitution and the diagnosis of pulse.

Background and Purpose : To investigate the wild plants to be used for survival on tactical activity of Special Forces soldiers at deep enemy's territory Material and Methods : To investigate the wild plants, I selected various native plants in the forests and fields that can be used for medical cure and eatables. And I selected some poisonous plants and some plants containing water or salts, after due consideration of tactical activity and use in the battle-fields. Results and Conclusion : There are many wild plants to be used for multiple purpose in our country. We can get from these plants emergency medicines, foods, even water and salts. I chose 6 species of digestives, 11 species of analgesics, 9 species of antiphlogistics, 7 species of hemostatics, 5 species of antidiarheal, 5 species of diuretics, 2 species of laxatives, 7 species of antipyretics, 1 species of vermicide and 45 species of eatable plants and 12 species of poisonous plants. and I summarized general name, scientific name, component, picking season, used portion, taking method of these plants. Building up accurate knowledge on the wild plants could contributed to raise survival rate of Special Forces soldiers in the battle-fields.

The effect of herbal medicine on glutamate mediated neurotoxicity was studied in mouse neurons in primary culture. Immature cerebral cortex neurons (ED14) were maintained for up to 2 weeks in vitro, and we investigated the expression pattern of neuron differentiation and cytotoxicity of cell death, including LDH activity. Neuronal maturation initiated on day 7 and the susceptibility to glutamate-induced cell death was highly sensitive on Day 11 (Fig. 1). Thus, the exposure of the neurons to glutamate caused a dose$(0.1mM{\sim}1mM)$ and time$(4h{\sim}24h)$-dependent neurotoxicity(Fig. 4). Glutamate-induced neurodegeneration was prevented by Shipchondaebotang(SD), Yollyounggobondan(YG), Yugmijihwangwon(YJ) and the death of neurons exposed to glutamate was blocked by the NMDA receptor antagonist MK-801 (Fig. 5).

To improve the quality control of frequently used oriental medicinal plants, the storage, cutting, processing and decokting methods of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch. var. purpurea Makino(熟地黃) were examined. The contents of 5-hydroxymethyl-2- furaldehyde(5-HMF) of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch. var. purpurea Makino were analysed by HPLC at various conditions as the standard component. Raw materials were classified into 3 groups with their specific gravity(天 地 人黃) and determined the ding weights and the contents of water, the solid component of Ji-Hwang(地黃) was the most. Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch. var purpurea Makino was steamed and dried nine times and analysed the content of 5-HMF on every time. In the case of Ji-Hwang, the standard component of the ninth sample was produced the most. But which of the tenth samples of Chun-Hwang and Yin-Hwang(天黃 人黃) were the most. The best decokting conditions which were determined by the yield of 5-HMF were as follows : non cutting, soaking time was 0 minutes, decokting time was 75 minutes after boiling. The contents of sugar on each of samples were determined. The contents of standard component increased by steaming number and the contents of sugar decreased.

Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, is considered to be involved in many pathological symptoms such as diabetic retinopathy, arthritis, inflammation and solid tumour. In particular, it is thought that angiogenesis is critical for development and growth of solid tumour. Recent study shows that there is a highly significant association of microvessel density with overall survival and relapse-free survival in patients with breast tumour In this study, the inhibition effect of angiogenesis of traditional herbs used for the treatment of cancer was examined. It was found out that the extract of Agaricus blazei by boiling water is a possible inhibitor of angiogenesis. It inhibited normal developmental angiogenesis In the chorioallantoic membrane of chick embryos and also inhibited capillary-like tube formation by endotherial cells on matrigel in vitro. These results suggest that Agaricus blazei can be a potent angiogenesis inhibitor.

Measurement of different skin parameters are widely used in the practices and researches of the modern acupuncture. The most important parameter is conductance or impedance. For measurement, some researchers used D.C. and others used A.C. It has been experimentally shown that the acupuncture points and meridian lines have the characteristics of high potential, low electrical resistance, high capacitance, spontaneous sound production, spontaneous light production, and high temperature. The Purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Hapkok(LI-4, 合谷) on experimental frequency characteristics in Hapkok. The result of data analyses indicated that significant differences arise at frequency under 100Hz. We propose that development of Meridian detecting system or Meridian diagnosis system should be done using frequency under 100Hz.
