Recently developed radars use the solid-state power amplifier to amplify the RF signal. The stability of RF signal directly depends on that of the electric power. So the stable and reliable electric power should be needed. When the electric power switch is tuned on for the first time in order to operate the radar system, the in-rush current is generated because of the capacitive characteristic. The excess in-rush current breaks the element. Therefore, the analysis about the in-rush current to design the electric power system is necessary. In this paper, modeling and simulation on the whole power system is carried out and the necessity of limiting the in-rush current is verified. After the analysis, the circuit to limit the in-rush current is designed and examined to verify the analysis. The circuit is good enough to limit the in-rush current.

In this study, the dynamic characteristics for the wheel-type landing gear system of helicopter have been analyzed. Nonlinear multi-body dynamic models of the landing gear system are constructed and the equations of motion, kinematics and internal forces of shock strut are considered. In addition, flexibility effect of the wheel axle with equivalent beam element is taken into account. General purpose commercial finite code, SAMCEF which includes MECANO module is applied. The results of dynamic simulation for various landing and weight conditions are presented and compared with each other. Based on the results, characteristics of impact dynamic behaviors of the landing gear system are practically investigated.

In this paper, we verify the performance of LDPC coded OFDM/DS system by Monte-Carlo simulation of BER on Eb/No. The simulation results show that LDPC coded OFDM/DS has a strong anti-jamming characteristic over pulse-noise jammer and partial-band noise jammer. The performance of LDPC coded OFDM/DS system is evaluated on both faded waveforms and non-faded waveforms. For non-faded waveforms, high coding gain is attained due to LDPC, even when waveforms have short PN sequence and JSR is only 5dB. Especially, the increase in the repeated number of LDPC decoding enhances coding gain. However, faded waveforms cannot achieve sufficient average effect when PN sequence is short. High coding gain of faded waveforms can be achieved by extending length of PN sequence. In addition, we compare LDPC coded OFDM/DS system with Convolutional coded OFDM/DS system. The simulation results illustrate that when LDPC coded OFDM/DS system with short PN sequence has sufficient average effects, the system shows lower BER than Convolutional coded OFDM/DS system with long PN sequence.

This paper describes the design of SP3T PIN diode switch which has a 500W high power handling capability in $20{\sim}400MHz$ frequency range. Design factors were investigated and it was confirmed by simulation that the characteristics of insertion loss, VSWR, and isolation met design goal. Also, the capability to handle 500W high power with very fast switching speed of less than $26{\mu}s$ was confirmed and insertion loss of less than 1dB, VSWR of less than 1.4:1, and isolation of higher than 60dB were obtained by experiments.

In this paper, we have introduced a Code Division Multiplexing transmission method which is similar to OFDM and analyze ECCM performances. We have verified CDM transmission method has a good LPI performance and a feasible ECCM performance. This capability could be useful for reduction of RF interference which occurs when many equipments operate densely in small area. The equipment that uses CDM transmission method supports variable transmission rate and order-wire effectively and conveniently to user. This CDM method has similar ECCM performance comparing to serial DS method. CDM method has good multi-path signal processing capability and could be useful for mobile communication environment.

In this paper, we suggested a methodology that can be used by an agent to learn models of other agents in a multi-agent system. To construct these model, we used influence diagram as a modeling tool. We present a method for learning models of the other agents at the decision nodes, value nodes, and chance nodes in influence diagram. We concentrated on learning of the other agents at the value node by using neural network learning technique. Furthermore, we treated anti-air units in anti-air defense domain as agents in multi. agent system.

Earlier researches on Sensor Networks preferred symmetric key-based authentication schemes in consideration of limitations in network resources. However, recent advancements in cryptographic algorithms and sensor-node manufacturing techniques have opened suggestion to public key-based solutions such as Merkle tree-based schemes. These previous schemes, however, must perform the authentication process one-by-one in hierarchical manner and thus are not fit to be used as primary authentication methods in sensor networks which require mass of multiple authentications at any given time. This paper proposes a new concept of public key-based authentication that can be effectively applied to sensor networks. This scheme is based on exponential distributed data concept, a derivative from Shamir's (t, n) threshold scheme, in which the authentication of neighbouring nodes are done simultaneously while minimising resources of sensor nodes and providing network scalability. The performance advantages of this scheme on memory usage, communication overload and scalability compared to Merkle tree-based authentication are clearly demonstrated using performance analysis.

For the major scientific laboratories around the world, nanotechnology has been one of the key scientific issues since the end of the last millenium. The basic materials of this newly emerging technology are nanoparticles, which, in fact, have been used for many centuries. However, the physical properties of the particles were understood quite recently. In order to apply the new properties we have to protect and functionalize the surfaces of the particles, since without protection of the surfaces, nanoparticles grow themselves due to Ostwald Ripening. In this review, the author describes recent technical progress in the field of fuctionalization of various nanoparticles and their applications, so that readers can grasp the overall picture of this new technological field.

The spectral radiance received by a remote sensor at a given temperature and wavelength region is consisted of the self-emitted component directly from the object surface, the reflected component of the solar irradiation at the object surface, and the scattered component by the atmosphere without ever reaching the object surface. The IR image of a ship is mainly affected by location, meteorological condition(atmosphere temperature, wind direction and velocity, humidity etc.), atmospheric transmittance, solar position and ship surface temperature etc. Computer simulations for prediction of the IR signatures of ships are very useful to examine the effects of various meteorological conditions. In this paper, we have acquired the IR signature for different meteorological conditions by using two different computer programs. The numerical results show that the IR image contrast as compared to the background sea considering the atmosphere temperature and wind velocity.

Chaff is one of important devices for heliborne protection from radars and missiles. When we use a chaff for heliborne protection, J/S(jamming signal of chaff vs reflected signal from heliborne) is important factor to analyze a heliborne survive. When the radial angle between missile and heliborne is changed, J/S of missile receiver is changed and jamming effectiveness of chaff is also changed. We calculate the RCS of chaff and heliborne, and compare the returned signals in a half power beam width of receiver antenna. We analyze chaff dispense modes and specially simulate the effectiveness of a dilution mode chaff between missile and heliborne.

Metal ions such as Cu and Cr were extracted from the Cu, Cr and Ag impregnated active carbon by contacting the solid surfaces with supercritical carbon dioxide(Sc-$CO_2$) containing chelating agents. About 10g of the active carbon sample were loaded in a vertical tube extractor contacting with $CO_2$ flowing from the bottom of the tube for 6hrs. The ligands used were acetyl acetone(AA) and Cyanex-302(C-302). Water and methanol were used as entrainers to study the effect of co-solvent to $CO_2$. Experimental results showed that C-302 was more effective than AA in removing Cu with the maximum extraction of 42.0wt%, while 57.6wt% of Cr was extracted with AA from the sample.

In this paper, we have proposed a wear growth prediction method on the surface of rubber pad of track assembly installed in high-speed battle tank i.e. the automatic model updating code interfacing with commercial finite element simulation software. Also, simple and resonable geometrical, material finite element model was established to be easily updated based on the empirical threshold value of contact pressure on the contact surface. From the iterative model update and analysis results, we discovered a weak point on rubber pad surface and suggested a new design concept for improving the wear performance of track assembly.

Hydrocodes are large computer programs that can be used to solve a wide variety of highly transient problems such as high-speed impact and explosion events. This paper describes the recent activity to develop a Multi-material hydrocode in Korea. The code consists of two stages; Lagrangian, and remap stages. Although a sophisticated contact algorithm has been developed for Lagrangian calculations, a relatively simple mechanics at the interfaces of materials are used in the multi-material Eulerian code. Volume of fluid interface reconstruction methods are used to resolve the interfaces between different materials. For the advection stage of the cell centered properties, one-dimensional hyperbolic equation is used. Test problems demonstrated here are the high-speed impact/penetration and explosion problems.
