This paper includes the algorithm of eliminating noise, the processing technique of sensor and the results of designing vital and environmental sensor, one of the survivability subsystem of Future Soldier System. In this paper, we propose the adaptive filtering, moving noise removal in order to detect signals stabilized. And these help that we get bio-signals the ECG calculating methods such as search back and ensemble method. It is made up the vital and environmental sensor including the flexible sensor. In that sense, this study can be applied when it is planned the modular type Future Soldier System.

This paper discusses the maneuvering control algorithm based on all-wheel independent driving and steering control techniques for special purpose 6WD/WS vehicles. The maneuvering control algorithms considering superior dynamic characteristics of high power in-wheel motors and independent steering system are designed to perform driving, steering, vehicle stability, and fault tolerant control. The maneuvering controller applies sliding and optimal control theories considering optimal torque distribution and friction circle related to the vertical tire force. The fault tolerant control algorithm is applied to obtain the similar maneuverability to that of the non-faulty vehicle. The simulations using the Matlab/Simulink dynamics model and experiments using HIL simulator mounting the real controllers with the designed control algorithms prove the improved performances in terms of vehicle stability and maneuverability.

This paper proposes a method to select the optimal location of the strategic military base, e.g., the Quartermaster Corps, that minimally connects three frontlines using the optimization technique. The results are also compared to the Steiner Tree theoty.

To evaluate the suitability of the Weaponeering tool for the Surface to Surface Guided Missile at the Above-Ground Buildings, we analyzed the relation among SSPD, $MAE_{bldg}$, CEP and the number of missiles, expected damage etc.. According to the analysis, if the target Length is 100m, and $\sqrt{MAE_{bldg}}$ is longer than the target length, the tool is suitable but shorter than it, the tool is not suitable. So Morris Driels's Weaponeering Tool needs new adaptive algorithm to Translate as the Target size and $MAE_{bldg}$.

A combat system for navy's battleship is a system of systems who supports naval indigenous operations by integrating and inter-operating many different kind of weapon and non-weapon systems, which has characteristics of large-scale complex computing system. This paper considers a characteristics of naval combat system which has been developed by domestic technology and suggests a way to improve future naval combat system in terms of computing architecture by applying commercial real-time operating system technologies. This paper also provides an evaluation criteria for combat system adaptability of real-time operating systems.

The objective of this paper is to give a general understanding for the development flight test of Korean Utility Helicopter(KUH). This paper contains the contents of detailed flight test plan, the type of flight test, an introduction to main flight test area, and the overview of flight test results. At the beginning, more than 8,500 test points were identified for airworthiness certification to show the compliance for the KUH development requirements. However, the number of flight test points were optimized to 7,800 at the end. To accomplish the test objectives, about 860 flight test sorties had been performed, and more than 1,000 test sorties were consumed for trouble shooting. This paper also describes some major issues faced during development flight test phase.

In this paper, the ventilating and heating system of T-103 trainer aircraft were investigated and redesigned to improve its poor performance. The ventilation system of the trainer was designed to increase the mass flow rate of fresh air by using air intake valves. The flow-in air through the air intake valve is supplied to the cabin by the ram effect of aircraft and the propeller. And the additional heating system was installed to improve the temperature of the cabin inside. The wasted heat from the exhaust gas of the engines was used as heat source of the additional heating system by installing an heat exchanger around the exhaust nozzle. The additional fresh air and the heated air enter the cabin via two ducts mounted under the instrument panel and behind the pedal in the cabin. The additional ventilating and heating system can be controlled by the first pilot and the secondary pilot individually using the control knob equipped separately. After mounting the additional ventilating and heating system, evaluations such as inspection of parts and component, ground run-up test, in-flight test, user test, etc. were conducted. The result of the tests was sufficient to meet the requirements of the manuals, and the pilots were satisfied with the additionally mounted systems.

In this paper, we present a tunable BPF with a novel structure. The filter is very useful to optimization of low frequency filter performance, because the fiilter has air-coils and tuning screws. This filter also has the merits of light weight and small size in comparison with conventional tunable filter at low frequency. This type filters are especially suitable for switched filter bank due to tuning structure. We designed 4 channel filter bank with two SP4Ts and 4 BPFs using novel structure. Tuning processes were subsequently executed. We obtained satisfactory performances as a result; consequently, the validity of our proposal was proved.

The Operational Mode Summary/Mission Profile(OMS/MP) is a document which describes how a system or training device will be used in wartime and/or peacetime at the time it is field with focus on the future. OMS/MP is also typically used for the RAM goal setting in an early phase of weapon system development. This paper provides OMS/MP and RAM goal of the Next-MILSATCOM which is following military satellite system after ANASIS. We propose operational concepts, user-side OMS/MP model and RAM goal.

Wireless Sensor Networks, especially supporting for surveillance service, are one of the core properties of network-centric warfare(NCW) that is a key factor of victory in future battlefields. Such a tactical surveillance sensor network must be designed not just for energy efficiency but for real-time requirements of emergency data transmission towards a control center. This paper proposes efficient clustering-based methods for supporting mobile sinks so that the network lifetime can be extended while emergency data can be served as well. We analyze the performance of the proposed scheme and compare it with other existing schemes through simulation via Qualnet 5.0.

In this paper, we have proposed a method which can prevent data looping in multi tactical data-link operating situation. Because the situation of multi tactical data-link in Korea would be more complex than ever before, data looping is more likely to be happened. To prevent data looping, forwarder has to manage TQ(Track Quality) in forwarded track message by degrading it to enlarge correlation gate. Forwarder also has to discard useless track message which can be determined by minimum TQ value. To decide optimal formula for forwarder to degrade TQ and to determine minimum TQ, a research about track motion, correlation, TQ managing, etc in real system is necessary.

Wireless Mesh Networks(WMNs) is generally composed of radio nodes in the mesh topology. WMNs consists of mesh client, mesh router and gateway connected to a wired network. Each client and router relay messages to the gateway for communication. WMNs is widely used recently in many areas can provide extended coverage based on multi-hop communication and ubiquitous communication at any time and any location. However the competition and collision between each node to transmit data is inevitable when the same channel is used for transmission. The transmission opportunities and the throughput of nodes located far from gateway decrease more if the communication channel is accessed based on competitive CSMA/CA scheme using DCF(Distributed Coordination Function) provided by IEEE 802.11 MAC. In this paper, we improve the performance of the TCP fairness and throughput of the nodes with more than 2 hops by applying various algorithms for controlling contention window values. Also, we evaluate the performance using ns-2 simulator, According to the results, proposed scheme can enhance the fairness characteristic of each node irrespective of data to the gateway.

The network nodes in a tactical network moves continuously and due to the physical and electronic obstacles, the connections are not always available. Due to the frequent disconnections, it is hard to discover the path among the nodes in a DTN. According to PROPHET(Probabilistic Routing Protocol using History of Encounters and Transitivity), one of the most well-known DTN routing protocols, a DTN node determines whom to forward a packet according to the packet delivery probability. From the viewpoint of a node, the packet delivery probability of another node is degraded while the nodes are disconnected whereas it is improved when they encounter. In this paper, we enhance the algorithm estimating the packet probability by considering the encounter count as an additional parameter. Our algorithm prefers the node that encounters the destination more frequently in selecting the next hop toward the destination. We evaluated the performance of our algorithm by simulating military operations using a DTN-dedicated simulator. Through the simulations, we show that our proposed algorithm achieve higher packet delivery ratio with similar overhead compared with PROPHET.

Weapon effect is a key issue throughout the life cycle of weapon systems. Only when weapon effect is considered properly, Effects Based Operation(EBO), Effects Based Acquisition(EBA), and Effects Based Development(EBD) could be possible. Because the transfer of weapon effect technologies is restricted in most foreign counties, independent development is necessary. In this paper, framework of weapon effects calculator for hardened targets is proposed to meet the own development needs. It is designed focusing on running time, validation and expandibility by adoption of modular architecture. Required technologies for each module are identified, and unclassified ones are summarized.

This work describes an approach that contributes to derive from mission to critical functions of the attack helicopter under future battle space environment. An existing mission of the attack helicopter is limited to the only shooter oriented functions. In the future environment, mission and its functions of the helicopter might be much expanded. The functions should be derived by the top down approach based on systems engineering approach. In this point of view, this work describes network based future battle environment. From this environment, the missions of the attack helicopter are identified and optimized functions are derived through sequential procedures like from missions to tasks, tasks to activities, and activities to functions. The selected activities are obtained from the tasks using QFD. The weighting scores of the QFD are calculated by the AHP computational procedure. Finally the critical functions are presented through the similar procedure.

Borosilicate glass(GVB-Solutions in glass, 2mm, Germany) was prepared in the composition of $80.4SiO_2-4.2Na_2O-2.4Al_2O_3-13.0B_2O_3$. The 2-step crystallization was performed around $584^{\circ}C$ of glass transition temperature ($T_g$), and $774^{\circ}C$ of crystallization temperature($T_c$). The maximum nucleation rate was $8.8{\time}10^9/mm^3{\cdot}hr$ at $600^{\circ}C$ and the maximum crystal growth rate was 3.5nm/min at $750^{\circ}C$. The maximum mechanical properties were observed at 22.8% of volume fraction, the strength, hardness and fracture toughness was 555MPa, $752kg/mm^2$, $1.082MPa{\cdot}mm^{1/2}$. The crystal size of 177nm which has volume fraction of 22.8% showed maximum strength of 562MPa, it is about 157% higher than parent borosilicate glass. From these results, the crystallized borosilicate glass can be applied weight lighting of bullet proof materials.

The multibeam surveillance radar is a state-of-art of 3D radar technology. It applies the stacked beams realized by a digital beamformer. In this paper, a hybrid compensation technique on elevation angle errors for low elevation angle targets over the sea in multipath radar environments is proposed. The proposed method can be applied to stacked beam radars. Double null algorithm based on maximum likelihood method in 3-D beamspace domain works well unless the phase difference between the two rays(direct and specular path) is close to $0^{\circ}$ and the magnitude of reflection coefficient is close to 0. To overcome these problems, we propose a hybrid compensation technique which uses the selective double null algorithm and the beam-ratio compensation technique for low-elevation errors on a log scale. Results of computer simulation show that the proposed method outperform conventional monopulse method and double null algorithm only under various multipath environments.

In this paper, the effects of phase noise on the radar system were analyzed in terms of 3 point of view. The impact(s) on the compressed pulse waveform, the FMICW(Frequency Modulated Interrupted Continuous Wave) radar performance and the receiver sensitivity were investigated. From the investigation, it was indicated that the phase noise over 10 kHz offset frequency makes the side lobe level of compressed pulse worse. Also it was founded that the FMICW radar performance, especially at the noise level of range profile, is related to the phase noise. Finally, the investigation showed that the phase noise at local oscillator affects the receiver sensitivity.

In anti-jamming GPS receiver, adaptive signal processing techniques in which the radiation pattern of adaptive array antenna of elements may be adaptively changed used to reject interference, clutter, and jamming signals. In this paper, I describes adaptive signal processing technique using the sample matrix inversion(SMI) algorithm. This adaptive signal processing technique can be applied effectively to wideband/narrowband anti-jamming GPS receiver because it does not consider the satellite signal directions and GPS signal power level exists below the thermal noise. I also analyzed the effects of covariance matrix sample size and diagonal loading technique on the system performance of five-element circular array antenna. To attain near optimum performance, more samples required for calculation covariance matrix. Diagonal loading technique reduces the system nulling capability against low-power jamming signals, but this technique improves robustness of adaptive array antenna.

Primary-cultured immune cells are widely used in research to elucidate the mechanism of inflammation including chemotaxis, production of reactive oxygen species, cytokine release and antigen presenting. Mice are one of the species of experimental animals commonly used for such studies. Immune cells can be isolated and cultured from various organs such as bone marrow, peritoneal cavity, lung, spleen. For elaborated experimental studies, immune cells should be elicited with inflammatory substances or proliferated in vitro with special media. This paper details methods of obtaining immune cells from various organs of mice and investigating immune mechanism using isolated immune cells. It contains standard protocols of isolating and culturing immune cells from bone marrow, peritoneal cavity and lymphoid organs. It also covers the methods of investigating immune mechanism such as ELISA, western blotting, confocal microscopy and ELISPOT assay. With the works in this study, we established the standardized isolation and analysis methods of primary-cultured immune cells.

The simulation of the ballistic trajectory of penetrator into the spaced multi-layer RC targets is very important to predict the hitting condition in subsequent target. Because of perturbation by lateral load of penetrator caused by asymmetric hitting position between penetrator and steel bar reinforcement, penetrator rotates and deviates from the straight path. Therefore, penetration capability of penetrator is decreased in the subsequent targets. This paper presents the result of the penetration of steel-bar-reinforced concrete target by using the explicit finite element code LS-DYNA. A series of computations is performed and compared to experimental data and the computed results are in good agreement with the experimental results over a wide range of velocities. And then we conduct the simulation according to various RC target hitting condition and impact velocities.
