Real time Image Processor for Reproduction of Gray Levels in Dark Areas on Plasma Display Panel (PDP) (플라즈마 디스플레이 패널의 어두운 영역에서의 계조 재현을 위한 실시간 영상처리기)

  • Plasma Display Panel (PDP) is required to be both the determination of white point of each gray level and the inverse gamma correction since no-balanced RGB cell and linear property of PDP, respectively. However, these two methods cause degradation of grey level representation and undesirable false contour in the dark areas on PDP. In this paper, we implemented real time image processor of the proposed error diffusion algorithm and unsharp masking operation to protect the blurring image caused by the error diffusion. Experimental results showed drastic improvements of gray level representation and reduction of undesirable false contour.

  • A various color device became generalization. Therefore, request about expression of correct color is increased. Device independent color reproduction system acquires and reproduce color of object regardless characteristic of Input/Output device. Human visual system is partially adapted to the CRT monitor's white point and the ambient light. The visual experiments were performed on the effect of the ambient lighting under mixed chromatic adaptation. In this paper, It was found that human visual system is 40% to 60% adapted to CRT monitor's white point light and the rest to ambient light.

  • I present a method of aspheric surface profile measurement using 2nd derivative of local area profile. This method is based on the principle of curvature sensor which measures the local 2nd derivative under test along a line. The profile is then reconstructed from the data on the each point. Unlike subaperture-stiching method and slope detection method, 2nd derivative method has strong points from a geometric point of view in measuring the aspheric surface profile. The second derivative terms of surface profile is an intrinsic property of the test piece, which is independent of its position and tip-tilt motion. The curvature is measured at every local area with high accuracy and high lateral resolution by using White-light scanning interferometry.

Visualization Study on Microscale Wetting Dynamics of Water Droplets on Dry and Wet Hydrophilic Membranes

  • The wetting dynamics of water droplets dispensed on the surface of dry and wet hydrophilic membranes were investigated experimentally from a microscale point of view. By using a high-speed, white-beam x-ray microimaging (WXMI) synchrotron, consecutive images displaying the dynamic motions of the droplets were acquired. Through analyzing the characteristics observed, it was found that the dry hydrophilic membrane showed local hydrophobicity at a certain point during the absorption process with apparent contact angles greater than 90. While on the other hand, the apparent contact angles of a water droplet absorbing into the wet membrane remained less than 90 and showed total hydrophilicity. The observations and interpretation of characteristics that affect the contact, wetting, recoiling, and dynamic behaviors of droplets are significant for controlling liquid droplet impingement in a desired manner.

  • FIDIC White Book is a Model Services Agreement between the Client and the Consultant. This study aimed to derive the Key Risk Sub-Clauses out of 63 Sub-Clauses of General Conditions of the FIDIC White Book by using the Delphi technique. A panel of 40 experts with more than 10 years of experience and expertise in overseas construction services agreements and FIDIC White Book was formed, and the reliability was improved in the direction of increasing the consensus of experts through a total of three Delphi survey processes. In the first Delphi survey, a closed-type survey was conducted on the impact of risk among 63 Sub-Clauses of General Conditions on a Likert 5-point scale, and 26 main risk Sub-Clauses were derived. The Content Validity of the results of the first Delphi survey was verified with the CVR value. In the 2nd and 3rd Delphi surveys, a closed-type survey was conducted on a Likert 10-point scale for 26 main risk Sub-Clauses and the risk possibility and impact of each main risk Sub-Clause were evaluated. The reliability of the 3rd Delphi survey result was verified with the COV value. Total 14 Key Risk Sub-Clauses were derived by applying the average risk possibility and impact of each of the 26 main risk Sub-Clauses to the PI Risk Matrix. The results of deriving Key Risk Sub-Clauses showed that agreement on specific scope of service, delay management, and change management were the most important. As a result of this study, from a practical point of view, consultants of consulting companies provide guidelines that should be reviewed to minimize contractual risks when signing service contracts with clients. From an academic point of view, the direction of research on deriving key risks related to service contracts for consultants participating in overseas construction is presented.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive FEC scheme in visible light communication using white LED. To this end, we investigate the red, green and blue mixing ratio of white LED in order to achieve the white color, and the mixing ratio of those wavelength can be defined as 4 types. Based on those properties, the FEC technique is applied to the wavelength band with the lowest mixing ratio according to mixing ratio types. At that point, we use a LDPC channel coding scheme as the FEC technique. Therefore, the proposed system can mitigate the reduction of data rate and improve total BER performance.

Rheological Behaviors of White and Brown Rice Flours During In-vitro Simulation of Starch Digestion (In-vitro 전분 소화 모델에서 백미와 현미 가루의 물성학적 특성 분석)

  • The in-vitro starch digestibility of white and brown rice flours was continuously characterized from a rheological point of view. Specifically, the in-vitro viscosities of the rice digesta samples were monitored under simulated oral, gastric, and intestinal conditions. A trend of decreasing viscosities in all the digesta samples was observed during the in-vitro digestion. After cooking, the brown rice sample exhibited lower viscosity than that of the white rice flour due to the presence of more non-starch components. A similar tendency was observed during the simulated oral and gastric digestions. However, the viscosity crossover between the white and brown rice samples was observed during intestinal digestion. In addition, the amount of glucose released from the brown rice flour was significantly lower than that from the white rice flour. Thus, the slower rate of starch hydrolysis in the brown rice flour could be related to its in-vitro rheological behaviors.

  • In this study a process simulation method was used to analyze the accumulation phenomena of anionic starch in the process white water as the closure level of a fine paper making process is increased. A pilot paper machine was used as a model process. Dynamic simulations of the influence of white water usage ratio and uncoated broke addition ratio on the variation of process variable was monitored as a function of time. Results from the dynamic simulations showed that the volume of reservoirs affected the dynamic behavior of the process. The dynamic behavior of flow rate and dissolved starch concentration in process units were different from each other. The speed of the change of dissolved starch concentration in process units was depend on the starting point of the change of dissolved starch concentration, the length of circulation loop, and the volume of reservoirs.

  • To obtain balanced white-emission and high efficiency of the organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), a deep blue emitter made of N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(1-naphthyl)- (1,1'-biphenyl)-4,4'-diamine (NPB) emitter and a new red emitter made of the Bis(2,4 -dimethyl-8-quinolinolato)(triphenylsilanolato)aluminum(III) (24MeSAlq) doped with red fluorescent 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-tert-butyl-6-(1,1,7,7-tetramethyljulolidyl-9-enyl)-4H -pyran (DCJTB) were used and the device was tuned by varying the thickness of the DCJTB-doped 24MeSAlq and $Alq_3$. For the white OLED with 10 nm thickness DCJTB (0.5%) doped 24MeSAlq and 45 nm thick $Alq_3$, the maximum luminance of about 29,700 $Cd/m^2$ could be obtained at 14.8 V. Also, Commission Internationale d'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates of (0.32, 0.28) at about 100 $Cd/m^2$, which is very close to white light equi-energy point (0.33, 0.33), could be obtained.

Effect of Irradiation on the Mixture of Egg White Proteins Responsible for Foaming Property

  • Irradiation of egg white increased foaming ability significantly. To investigate the protein modification by irradiation responsible for the increase of foaming ability, 3 major egg white proteins were purchased and mixed (7.7 g/L ovalbumin, 1.8 g/L ovotransferrin, 0.5 g/L lysozyme) as a model system and irradiated at 0, 2.5, and 5 kGy. The different protein expressions were evaluated using 2-D electrophoresis and it was found that ovotransferrin was cleaved by irradiation and molecular weight and isoelectric point were changed. In addition, many uncharacterized proteins were found and it indicated that irradiation modified proteins randomly but mainly fragmentation was observed. Therefore, it can be concluded that protein fragmentation of 3 major egg white proteins responsible for foaming ability may be the main reason for the improvement of foaming ability.
