The effect of composite reinforcing bars on surface electrical resistivity of concrete was investigated through experimental program. The resistivity was measured by Wenner method using an equipment with 4 probe. Ordinary steel, GFRP, and CFRP reinforcing bars produced domestically were used and a specimen with no reinforcement was tested for the comparison. This investigation is motivated from the fact that measured value of resistivity of concrete is significantly affected by details of steel reinforcements, such as location, depth and direction of the internal steel reinforcement. These results could be valuable data for evaluation of corrosion degree of concrete structures reinforced or strengthened by the composite reinforcing bars.

Installation of earth grounding system is essential to ensure personnel safety and correct operation of electrical equipment. Earth parameters, especially, soil resistivity has to be determined in designing an efficient earth grounding system. The most common applied technique to measure soil resistance is Wenner four-point method. Implementation of this method is expensive, time consuming and cumbersome as large set of measurements with variable electrode spacing are required to obtain a one dimensional resistivity plot. It is advantageous to have a method which is of low cost and provides fast measurements. In this perspective, electrical resistance tomography (ERT) is applied to estimate subsurface resistivity profile. Electrical resistance tomograms characterize the soil resistivity distribution based on the measurements from electrodes placed in the region of interest. The nonlinear ill-posed inverse problem is solved using iterated Gauss-Newton method with Tikhonov regularization. Through extensive numerical simulations, it is found that ERT offers promising performance in estimating the three-dimensional soil resistivity distribution.

This paper presents the method of sail-resistivity estimation using the backpropagation(BP) neural network. Existing estimation programs are expensive, and their estimation methods need complex techniques and take much time. Also, those programs have not become well spreaded in Korea yet. Soil resistivity estimation method using BP algorithm has studied for the reason mentioned above. This paper suggests the method which differs from expensive program or graphic technology requiring many input stages, complicated calculation and professional knowledge. The equivalent earth resistivity can be presented immediately after inputting apparent resistivity through the personal computer with a simplified Program without many Processing stages. This program has the advantages of reasonable accuracy, rapid processing time and confident of anti users.

The study is concerned with the analysis of flanging as a sheet metal working process. In terms of mechanics, the flanging process can be divided into two groups, i.e, shrink flanging and stretch flanging. In this study, the shrink flanging process is analyzed by using the proposed energy criterion and the forming limit is found for the process. The forming limit for stretch flanging is also found by employing the neckind theory. Experiments are carried out for both processes. Approximate forming limits are obtained from the experiments. An approximate method to calculate the punch force is proposed and the computed results are compared with the experimental results. It is shown that there are good agreements in forming limits and punch forces between theory and experiments.

Main ground net of power plant is formed to protect human body from increase in potential gradient caused by grounding current during ground fault. Calculations during ground design are generally performed according to IEEE Std-80-2000 (Kepco Design Standard 2602). However, it is difficult to apply this Standard to water environment, and a grounding technology is required to secure grounding resistance of floating photovoltaic system. Therefore the aim of this paper is to investigate and analyze ground resistivity on the water surface and underwater of reservoir using Wenner 4-pin method, a general method of measuring ground resistivity. Also, grounding resistance of floating photovoltaic systems currently in operation was measured and analyzed using the voltage drop method suggested in the international standard (IEEE Std-81) to propose a grounding method for stable grounding of floating photovoltaic system. The resistivity at 1m below the surface of water ($126.3969[{\Omega}{\cdot}m]$) is mostly higher than resistivity at the river bed ($97.5713[{\Omega}{\cdot}m]$). Also the proposed grounding anchor method was determined as the most effective method of securing stable grounding resistance in floating photovoltaic systems and is expected to be utilized as a ground method for future floating photovoltaic generation systems.
The intake tower of D-dam located in a mountainous area positioned in the left side of the dam and its structure installed alone on the water surface then, can become target of direct lightening. To protect the intake tower from the direct lightening and indirect-lightening, lightening rod installed in the top area of the intake tower and ground pole laid under the surrounding ground. however, because the surrounding ground almost consists of a rock, it is very difficult to obtain the grounding resistance. It is main object to examine the construction plan of the optimum lightening rod equipment and ground pole with measuring the earth specific resistance of the around of the intake tower which is the scheduled area to lay the ground pole with the Wenner's 4-electric pole method and the Schlumberger's method. and using the analysis tool, ESII.
Purpose: In this paper, we propose a design technique for the safety characterization grounding in the construction of the photovoltaic power generation complex which can be useful and useful as an alternative power energy source in our society. In other words, we will introduce the application of safety grounding for each application, which can improve and optimize the reliability of the internal grid from the cell module to the electric room in the photovoltaic power generation complex. Method: We analyze the earth resistivity of the soil in the solar power plant and use the computer program (CDEGS) to analyze the contact voltage and stratospheric voltage causing the electric shock, and propose the calculation and calculation method of the safety ground. In addition, we will discuss the importance of semi-permanent ground electrode selection in consideration of soil environment. Results: We could obtain the maximum and minimum value of ground resistivity for each of the three areas of the data measured by the Wenner 4 - electrode method. The measured data was substituted into the basic equation and calculated with a MATLAB computer program. That is, it can be determined that the thickness of the minimum resistance value is the most favorable soil environment for installing the ground electrode. Conclusion: Through this study, we propose a grounding system design method that can suppress the potential rise on the ground surface in the inner grid of solar power plant according to each case. However, the development of smart devices capable of accumulating big data and a monitoring system capable of real-time monitoring of seismic changes in earth resistances and grounding systems should be further studied.
Various types of fibers are utilized in cementitious materials in order to improve their performances. Here, the extent of fiber dispersion is of key importance regardless of the purpose of using fiber. In this study, activated carbon fiber dispersion in mortar samples was evaluated using electrical resistivity method. In particular, the extent of fiber dispersion was compared per mixing methods and surface treatments. The results suggest that the surface resistivity method is capable of evaluating dispersion of activated carbon fiber and that ultrasound dispersion method is superior to mortar mixer and hand mixer method. The use of superplasticizer improved dispersion but acid treatment was not effective.
Accurate estimation of soil resistivity parameters are very important in the design of grounding systems. This paper presents a useful methodology for the optimal estimation of soil parameters based on the weighted least square concepts using a set of earth resistivity measurements by Wenner method. And, this paper developes a computer simulation programming for the estimation of soil parameters. Results are presented and compared with the results of other methods.

The In this paper, we have made numerical experiments to compare 2D image reconstruction algorithm of earth model by electrical resistance tomograpy (ERT). Gauss-Newton, simultaneous iterative reconstruction technieque (SIRT) and truncated least squares (TLS) approaches for Wenner and Schlumberger electrode arrays are presented for the solution of the ERT image reconstruction. Computer simulations show that the Gauss-Newton and TLS approach in ERT are proper for 2D image reconstruction of an earth model.
