극저온 환경에 적용되는 INCONEL 718합금의 Gas Tungsten Arc Welding 기계적 특성 평가 (Mechanical Properties Evaluation of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding for INCONEL 718 alloy apply to Cryogenic Condition)

  • Inconel 718 alloy has excellent mechanical properties at room temperature, high temperature and cryogenic conditions. UTS of base metal is about 900MPa at room temperature; this is increased up to 1300MPa after heat treatment & aging-hardening. Mechanical properties of Inconel 718 Alloy were similar to those shown in the the results for tensile test; mechanical properties of Inconel 718 alloy's GTAW were similar to those of base metal's properties at room temperature. Mechanical properties at cryogenic conditions were better than those at room temperature. Heat-treated Inconel 718, non- filler metal GTAW on Inconel 718 and GTAW used filler metal on Inconel 718's UTS was 1400MPa at cryogenic condition. As a result, the excellent mechanical properties of Inconel 718 alloy under cryogenic conditions was proved through tensile tests under cryogenic conditions. In addition, weldability of Inconel 718 alloy under cryogenic conditions was superior to that of its base-metal. In this case, UTS of hybrid joint (IS-G) at -100$^{\circ}C$ was 900MPa. Consequently, UTS of Inconel 718 alloy is estimated to increase from -100$^{\circ}C$ to a specific temperature below -100$^{\circ}C$. Therefore, Inconel 718 alloy is considered a pertinent material for the production of Lox Pipe under cryogenic conditions.

HSB600강 GMA 용접부에서 입열량과 용접후 열처리가 미세조직과 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향 (The effect of Heat input and PWHT on the microstructure and mechanical properties of HSB600 steel weldments)

  • 본 연구에서는 교량용 구조용 강재인 HSB600 강의 용접부에서 입열량 (1.5~3.6 kJ/mm)과 용접후 열처리(PWHT, $600^{\circ}C$, 40hr.)가 미세조직과 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향에 관해 연구하였다. HSB600 강재를 GMA용접을 실시하였다. 용접된 상태에서는 인장강도와 경도는 입열량이 증가할수록 저하되었으며 충격 흡수 에너지는 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 낮은 입열량인 1.5 kJ/mm에서 침상형 페라이트가 가장 많이 생성되었다. 용접후 열처리를 통해 경도와 인장강도가 저하되었고, 용착금속의 충격흡수에너지가 증가되었다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 시험적 방법을 통해 SHN400 강재의 소재 특성이 건축구조용 강재로 적합한지를 평가하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국내에서 생산되는 열간 압연 H형강 중 최대 춤 및 최대 플랜지 두께의 H형강과 SHN400 강종의 주요 사용처가 될 보부재로 수요가 많은 H형강 규격을 대상으로 화학성분 평가, 인장강도, 매크로, 미크로 및 샤르피 충격 시험을 실시하였다. 각 시험은 관련 KS 규격에서 요구하는 시험 조건하에서 수행되었으며, 시험 결과 화학성분 및 기계적 특성과 관련된 모든 시험에서 SHN400 강종은 KS 규격(KS D 3866)의 요구 조건과 내진설계시 강재에 요구되는 조건들을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 용접성과 관련된 탄소당량(Ceq)과 비탄성 변형능력과 관련된 항복비의 경우 KS 규격을 상회하는 결과를 나타내었다. 따라서 SHN400 강재는 소재 특성 측면에서 건축구조용 강재에 적합한 것으로 판단된다.

  • Formation of the weld defect, such as a blowhole and a pit in lap-jointed fillet arc welds has been a serious problem in arc welding of Zn-coated steel sheet. In this study, the relationship among welding conditions, welding materials and defect formation was investigated in order to minimize these defects in the CO₂ welds. In addition, the arc stability of the commercial welding wires was evaluated for revealing their effects on defect formation. Main conclusions obtained are as follows:1) There was no difference between shear tensile strength of the sound welds and that of the welds with blowholes whose diameters are less than 0.5mm. However, the welds with blowholes whose diameters are equal or larger than 0.5mm and pits exhibited tensile strength 10~20% and 30~40% lower than that of the sound welds respectively.2) The optimum welding condition to effectively prevent or reduce the weld defects formation are as follows:- The welding variables of 220A-23V-100cm/min and 120A-190V-30cm/min were recommended for minimizing the weld defects.- The gap between the two sheets at the lap-joint should be controlled to more than 0.2mm- Solid wire was less susceptible to the formation of the weld defects than the flux-cored wire.- The low welding current condition produced less weld defects than the hihg welding current condition.3) One of the reason why the amount of the defect was reduced at the low welding current was the gas discharging by the active agitation of the molten pool, due to an increasing in the number of the short circuit. 800 MPa급 무예열 용접재료의 폭파변형성능에 관한 연구 (Investigation on Explosion Bulge Test Results of 800 MPa Grade Pre-heat Free Welding Consumables)

  • The Cu-bearing PFS-700 steel which has yield strength over 700 MPa was developed to replace the existing submarine structural material, HY-100. The PFS-700 steel has a combination of good mechanical properties and superior weldability. Becaus of that, it can be welded without pre-heating. The application of PFS-700 steel to submarine or battle ship will give a great reduction of cost by omitting pre-heating or lowering pre-heat temperature. To develop pre-heating free welding consumables that match and take advantage of PFS-700 steel, new welding consumables have been designed for the GMAW, SAW processes and explosion bulge test(EBT) was conducted to see the reliability of welded structure. All welds were made without pre-heating, and the inter-pass temperature was below $50^{\circ}C$ for SAW50 and $150^{\circ}C$ for GMAW and SAW150. All EBT specimens show over 14% thickness reduction without through-thickness crack or crack propagation to the hole-down area. Tensile properties for all welding conditions show higher(GMAW) or similar values(SAW50, SAW150) to the base metal. Charpy impact values for the weld metal also show 163.5J(GMAW), 95.4J(SAW50) and 69.0J(SAW150), which meet the goal(higher than 50J) of this project.

순티타늄판의 Nd:YAG 레이저 용접성에 관한 연구(II) - 맞대기 용접 특성 - (A Study of Weldability for Pure Titanium by Nd:YAG Laser(II) - Welding Properties of Butt Welding -)

  • Recently, as titanium and titanium alloys are being increasingly used in wide areas, there are on-going researches to obtain high quality weld zone. In particular, growing interest is being drawn to laser welding, which involves low heat input and large aspect ratio in various welding processes and can facilitate shield in atmospheric condition compared with electron beam welding. The first report covered the analysis of embrittlement by the bead color of weld zone through quantitative analysis of oxygen and nitrogen and measurement of hardness as basic experiment to apply laser welding to titanium. Results indicated that the element that affect embrittlement the most was nitrogen, and as embrittlement and oxygenation go on, bead color changed to silver, gold, brown, blue and gray. This study performed butt welding of pure titanium and STS304 by using 1kW CW Nd:YAG laser, and to find out basic physical properties, evaluated welding performance by laser output, welding speed, root gap and misalignment etc, and examined mechanical properties through tensile stress and Erichsen test. The reason particles of pure titanium welded metal and HAZ are greater than STS304 is because they are pure metal and do not include many impure elements that work as nuclei in case of resolidification, thus becoming coarse columnar crystals eventually. In addition, the reason STS304 requires more energy during welding than pure titanium is because the particle size of base metal is smaller.

  • Titanium and titanium alloy can be reproduced immediately even if oxide films($TiO_2$) break apart in sea water. Therefore, since titanium demonstrates large specific strength and outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, pitting and microbiologically influenced corrosion in sea water environment, it has been widely applied to heat exchanger for ships. In particular, with excellent elongation, pure titanium may be deemed as optimal material for production of heat exchanger plate which is used with wrinkles formed for efficient heat exchange. Conventional plate type heat exchanger prevented leakage of liquid through insertion of gasket between plates and mechanical tightening by bolts and nuts, but in high temperature and high pressure environment, gasket deterioration and leakage occur, so heat exchanger for LPG re-liquefaction device etc do not use gasket but weld heat exchanger plate for use. On the other hand, since welded plate cannot be separated, it is important to obtain high quality reliable welds. In addition, for better workability and production performance, lasers that can obtain weldment with large aspect ratio and demonstrate fast welding speed even in atmospheric condition not in vacuum condition are used in producing products. So far, 1st report and 2nd report compared and analyzed embrittlement degrees by bead colors of weldment through quantitative analysis of oxygen and nitrogen and measurement of hardness as fundamental experiment for the evaluation of titanium laser welding, and evaluated the welding performance and mechanical properties of butt welding. This study welded specimens in various conditions by using laser and GTA welding machine to apply edge welding to heat exchanger, and evaluated the mechanical strength through tensile stress test. As a result of tensile test, laser weldment demonstrated tensile strength 4 times higher than GTA welds, and porosity could be controlled by increasing and decreasing slope of laser power at overlap area.

고강도 강판 저항 점용접부 강도 및 파단에 미치는 Paint Baking의 영향 (The Effect of Paint Baking on the Strength and Failure of Spot Welds for Advanced High Strength Steels)

  • Conventional fracture tests of resistance spot welds have been performed without consideration of the paint baking process in the automobile manufacturing line. The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of the paint baking process on load carrying capacity and fracture mode for resistance spot welded 590 dual phase (DP), 780DP, 980DP, 590 transformation in duced plasticity (TRIP), 780TRIP and 1180 complex phase (CP) steels. With paint baking after resistance spot welding, the l-shape tensile test (LTT) and nano-indentation test were conducted on the as-welded and paint baked samples. Paint baking increased the load-carrying capacity of the resistance spot welded samples and improved the fracture appearance from partial interfacial fracture (PIF) to button fracture (BF). Improvement in fracture appearance after LTT is observed on weldments of 780 MPa grade TRIP steels, especially in the low welding current range with paint baking conditions. The higher carbon contents (or carbon equivalent) are attributed to the low weldability of the resistance spot welding of high strength steels. Improvement of the fracture mode and load carrying ability has been achieved with ferrite hardening and carbide formation during the paint baking process. The average nano-indentation hardness profile for each weld zone shows hardening of the base metal and softening of the heat affected zone (HAZ) and the weld metal, which proves that microstructural changes occur during low temperature heat treatment.

논시안 금도금층의 조직과 경도에 미치는 Tl+ 과 Pd2+ 이온첨가의 영향 (Effect of addition of Tl+ and Pd2+ on the texture and hardness of the non-cyanide gold plating layer)

  • Due to its high electrical conductivity, low contact resistance, good weldability and high corrosion resi-stance, gold is widely used in electronic components such as connectors and printed circuit boards (PCB). Gold ion salts currently used in gold plating are largely cyan-based salts and non-cyanic salts. The cya-nide bath can be used for both high and low hardness, but the non-cyanide bath can be used for low hardness plating. Potassium gold cyanide (KAu(CN)2) as a cyanide type and sodium gold sulfite (Na3[Au(SO)3]2) salt as a non-cyanide type are most widely used. Although the cyan bath has excellent performance in plating, potassium gold cyanide (KAu(CN)2) used in the cyan bath is classified as a poison and a toxic substance and has strong toxicity, which tends to damage the positive photoresist film and make it difficult to form a straight side-wall. There is a need to supplement this. Therefore, it is intended to supplement this with an eco-friendly process using sodium sulfite sodium salt that does not contain cyan. Therefore, the main goal is to form a gold plating layer with a controllable hardness using a non-cyanide gold plating solution. In this study, the composition of a non-cyanide gold plating solution that maintains hardness even after annealing is generated through gold-palladium alloying by adding thallium, a crystal regulator among electrolysis factors affecting the structure and hardness, and changes in plating layer structure and crystallinity before and after annealing the correlation with the hardness.
