Actual type of aggregation performed by an ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator heavily depends upon the weighting vector. A number of approaches have been suggested for obtaining the associated weights. In this paper, we present analytic forms of OWA operator weighting functions, each of which has such properties as rank-based weights and constant value of orness, irrespective of number of objectives aggregated. Specifically, we propose four analytic forms of OWA weighting functions that can be positioned at 0.25, 0.334, 0.667, and 0.75 on the orness scale. The merits for using these weights over other weighting schemes can be mentioned in a couple of ways. Firstiy, we can efficiently utilize the analytic forms of weighting functions without solving complicated mathematical programs once the degree of orness is specified a priori by decision maker. Secondly, combined with well-known OWA operator weights such as max, min, and average, any weighting vectors, having a desired value of orness and being independent of the number of objectives, can be generated. This can be accomplished by convex combinations of predetermined weighting functions having constant values of orness. Finally, in terms of a measure of dispersion, newly generated weighting vectors show just a few discrepancies with weights generated by maximum entropy OWA.
The H$_{\infty}$ algorithms of the mixed weight sensitivity is used for the robust design of the reactor power control system. The mixed weight sensitivity method requires the selection of the proper weighting functions for the loop shaping in frequency domain. The complexity of the system equation and the non-convexity of the problem make it very difficult to determine the weighting functions. The genetic algorithm which is improved and hybridized with the simulated annealing is applied to determine the weighting functions. This approach permits an automatic calculation and the resultant system shows good robustness and performance.

In this paper, a combination problem of controllers which are the same type of $H_{\infty}$ controllers designed with different weighting functions. This approach can remove the difficulty in the selection of the weighting functions. As a sub-controller, the Youla type of $H_{\infty}$ controller is used. In the $H_{\infty}$ controller, Youla parameterization is used to minimize $H_{\infty}$ norm of mixed sensitivity function by using polynomial approach. Computer simulation results show the robustness improvement and the performance improvement.

The aim of this paper is to suggest a design method of the optimal multivariable $H_{\infty}$ control system using genetic algorithm (GA). This $H_{\infty}$ control system is designed by applying GA to the optimal determination of weighting functions and design parameter $\gamma$ that are given by Glover-Doyle algorithm which can design $H_{\infty}$ controller in the state space. The first method to do this is that the gains of weighting functions and $\gamma$ are optimized simultaneously by GA with tournament method. And the second method is that not only the gains and $\gamma$ but also the dynamics of weighting functions are optimized at the same time by eA with roulette-wheel method. The effectiveness of this $H_{\infty}$ control system is verified by computer simulation.

The cost function consists of the weighting functions concerning the structural responses to be controlled and the controller capability. Therefore, the control efficiency depends on the characteristics of the weighting functions. The objective of this paper is the comparative study of the time domain control strategies of LQR and LQG and the frequency domain strategy of H₂ by setting the equivalent weighting functions to the all control strategies. As a result of analysis, LQR strategy is found to be more efficient than other strategies in terms of the response reduction. but the control force is found to be a little highter. As LQG can compensate the limitation of LQR that all state variables should be identified, LQG is more acceptable algorithm than LQR. Furthermore LQG shows a good performance both in the response reduction and the control force. Finally H₂ algorithm is employed to illustrate the importance of weighting filters considering the frequency characteristics of the response and the controller. It Is shown that the H₂ algorithm is found to be the most effective one for the response control with a little control force having a low frequency band.
Objective: The aim of this study is to review and summarize human vibration measurement process, and necessity and methods of frequency weightings for human vibration. Background: Prolonged human exposure to hand-arm vibration and whole-body vibration can result in a range of adverse conditions and the development of occupational diseases such as vibration white finger. For preventing these adverse effects, it is important to correctly apply human vibration measurement process. Method: This manuscript was based on the review and summary of mechanical and human vibration relevant texts, academic papers, materials obtained through web surfing. Results: This manuscript summarizes human vibration measurement process described in ISO standards and relevant texts. The sensitivity of the human body to mechanical vibration is known to be dependent on both the frequency and direction of vibration. To take this into account, varying frequency weighting functions have been developed, and RMS frequency-weighted accelerations are used as the most important quantity to evaluate the effects of vibration on health. ISO provided nine frequency weighting functions in the form of curves and tables. Researches on frequency weightings are focused on development and validation of new frequency weightings to truly reflect the relationship between vibration exposure and its adverse effects. Application: This would be useful information for systematically applying human vibration measurement and analysis process, and for selecting appropriate frequency weighting functions.
The Element-free Galerkin Method has become a very popular tool for the simulation of mechanical problems with moving boundaries. The internally applied Moving Least Squares interpolation uses in general Gaussian or cubic weighting functions and has compact support. Due to the approximative character of this interpolation the obtained shape functions do not fulfill the interpolation conditions, which causes additional numerical effort for the application of the boundary conditions. In this paper a new weighting function is presented, which was designed for meshless shape functions to fulfill these essential conditions with very high accuracy without any additional effort. Furthermore this interpolation gives much more stable results for varying size of the influence radius and for strongly distorted nodal arrangements than existing weighting function types.
A three-step sextic simple-root finder is constructed with the use of weighting functions of derivative-to-derivative ratios. Their convergence and computational properties are investigated along with concrete numerical examples to verify the theoretical analysis.
The aim of this paper is to suggest a design method of the model following optimal boiler-turbine H.inf. control system using genetic algorithm. This boiler-turbine H.inf. control system is designed by applying genetic algortihm with reference model to the optimal determination of weighting functions and design parameter .gamma. that are given by Glover-Doyle algornithm whch can design H.inf. contrlaaer in the sate. space. The first method to do this is ghat the gains of weightinf functions and .gamma. are optimized simultaneously by genetic algroithm. And the second method is that not only the gains and .gamma. but also the dynamics of weighting functions are optimized at the same time by genetic algonithm. The effectiveness of this boiler-turbine H.inf. control system is verified and compared with LQG/LTR control system by computer simulation.

In this article, the linear quadratic (LQ) optimal guidance laws with arbitrary weighting functions are introduced. The optimal guidance problems in conjunction with the control effort weighed by arbitrary functions are formulated, and then the general solutions of these problems are determined. Based on these investigations, we can know a lot of previous optimal guidance laws belong to the proposed results. Additionally, the proposed results are compared with other results from the generalization standpoint. The potential importance on the proposed results is that a lot of useful new guidance laws providing their outstanding performance compared with existing works can be designed by choosing weighting functions properly. Accordingly, a new optimal guidance law is derived based on the proposed results as an illustrative example.
