  • The distributional properties of R = X/(X + Y) and related estimation procedures are derived when X and Y are independent and identically distributed according to the Weibull or Levy distribution. The work is of interest in biological and physical sciences, econometrics, engineering and ranking and selection.

  • Based on progressive Type II censored sampling which is an important method to obtain failure data in a lifetime study, we suggest a very general form of Bayesian prediction bounds from two parameters exponentiated Weibull distribution using the proper general prior density. For this, Markov chain Monte Carlo approach is considered and we also provide a simulation study.

  • In this study, the DC dielectric breakdown of epoxy composites used for molding material was experimented and then its data were simulated by Weibull distribution equation. From the analysis of Weibull distribution, it was confirmed that as the allowed breakdown probability was given by 0.1[%], the applied field value needed to be under 21.5[kV/mm].

  • In this paper, we consider two-components system which the lifetimes have a bivariate Weibull distribution with bivariate random censored data. Here the bivariate censoring times are independent of the lifetimes of the components. We obtain estimators and approximated confidence intervals for the reliability of series system based on likelihood function and relative frequency, respectively. Also we present a numerical study.

  • The characteristics of Weibull distribution are investigated as a function of shape parameter. The statistical estimation methods of the shape parameter and statistical comparison methods of two or more shape parameters are studied. Assuming Weibull distribution, statistical analysis of bending-strength data of alumina titanium carbide ceramic matrix composites machined two different methods are performed.

  • Recently, Zaindin and Sarhan (2009) introduced a new distribution named new generalized Weibull distribution. This paper deals with the problem of estimating the parameters of this distribution in the case where the data is grouped and censored. We use both the maximum likelihood and Bayes techniques. The results obtained are illustrated on a set of real data.

  • Application areas for Lifetime Performance Index(LPI), a kind of process capability index to be frequently used as a means of measuring process performance are illustrated with examples. Statistical properties for maximum likelihood and unbiased estimators of LPI are evaluated and discussed under Weibull distribution with known shape parameter. Furthermore, guidelines for selecting an estimator of LPI are also presented.

  • Modelling of failures is an important element of reliability modelling. Empirical modelling approach suitable for complex item is explored in this paper. First step of the empirical modelling approach is to plot hazard function, density function, Weibull probability plot as well as cumulative intensity function to see which model fits best for the given data. Next step of the empirical modelling approach is select appropriate model for the data and fit the parametric model accordingly and estimate the parameters.

  • This paper delves into an examination of both non-Bayesian and Bayesian estimation techniques for determining the Topp-leone inverse Weibull distribution parameters based on progressive Type-II censoring. The first approach employs expectation maximization (EM) algorithms to derive maximum likelihood estimates for these variables. Subsequently, Bayesian estimators are obtained by utilizing symmetric and asymmetric loss functions such as Squared error and Linex loss functions. The Markov chain Monte Carlo method is invoked to obtain these Bayesian estimates, solidifying their reliability in this framework.

  • This paper discusses condition based preventive replacement for deteriorating systems. The system continuouslydeteriorates in time and fails at any deterioration level which is always monitored, It is replaced at failure or atsome deteriorated level preventively before failure. The deterioration process is represented by a Weibulldistribution with a time-linear scale parameter. The cost rate function is formed considering replacement costand opportunity loss cost and deterioration dependent failure distribution, If the system has an increasingdeterioration dependent failure rate, the optimal deterioration level for preventive replacement can be determinedfrom minimizing the cost rate. An illustrative example is given for a Weibull deterioration dependent failuredistribution.
