  • A composite breakwater with an upper horizontal porous plate and a lower rubble mound is proposed and studied in this work. By means of matched eigenfunction expansions, a semi-analytical solution is developed for analyzing the hydrodynamic performance of the breakwater. The semi-analytical solution is verified by known solutions for special cases and an independently developed multi-domain boundary element method solution. Numerical examples are given to examine the reflection, transmission and energy loss coefficients of the breakwater and the wave force acting on the horizontal porous plate. Some useful results are presented for engineering applications.

  • Results of the dynamic simulation on KTX catenary and catenary-pantograph interface are presented. Simulation programs based on finite element and finite difference models of the catenary are developed, while the pantograph is modeled as a linear 3-degree-of-freedom system. The catenary motion dynamics are primarily determined by the transmission and reflection of the propagating disturbance wave at the hanger and span boundaries. On the other hand, the catenary-pantograph contact characteristics are primarily influenced by the movement of the pantograph across the hanger and span boundaries, the amount of damping present in the contact wire, and the resonant frequencies of the pantograph.

  • Recently, coherent control of exciton populations has been demonstrated through terahertz, reflection, and four-wave-mixing experiments. However, the most direct probe of exciton population control is the absorption, which has been lacking in previous studies. In this report, we probe the time evolution of exciton population directly through a transmission experiment. In particular, using upconversion technique with both narrow (spectrally broad) and long (spectrally narrow) pulses, we can obtain both the temporal and the spectral information. The main thrust of our report is that when phase controlled, the second pulse can be either greatly enhanced or completely destroyed by gaining energy from exciton (thus destroying the exciton population) or giving all of its energy to the system (thus greatly increasing the exciton population), respectively. • In this paper, we implemented a pulse wave type oximeter system that continuously measure the of oxyhemoglobin saturation of the arterial blood(SaO2) and pulse rate with non-invasively. We use the transmission type and reflection type transducer for comparison the percentage of hemoglobin oxgen saturation. The light Iron the two kind of LEDs is transmitted through the tissue, then received by a single photodiode with alternatively. By the phase sensitive detection circuit, the output of the photodiode is separated in to red and near infrared signal. We calculated a ratio of light transmittance between two kind of LEDs, and then, it is applied to the oxgen saturation coefficent calculation formular.

  • The relaying algorithm to calculate the fault distance from only transient signal at faults in T/L is presented. In this paper. At faults the oscillation frequency components exist in both voltage and current and these components minimize the input impedance shown in fault point. The equivalent source impedance shown in relaying point is needed to calculate the fault distance using these components. To source impedance, the reflection coefficient between forward wave and backward and the Prony's analysis is also employed to extract the oscillation frequency component from transient signals. The case study show that the new distance relaying algorithm satisfies the high operation speed and high accuracy even if the algorithm uses only transient signals.

  • A fast convergent solution to the scattering problem of a transverse electric (TE) plan wave by a periodic strip grating with a dielectric slab is considered. The present method follows from an expansion of the equivalent surface magnetic current placed over the shorted slot according to the equivalence principle in a series of Chebyshev polynomials satisfying the appropriate edge condition. To examine the accuracy and convergence of the present method, the numerical results are calculated for the reflection and transmission coefficients and compared with other results available in the literature.

  • Analytic results, valid at resonance, for the admittance properties of an edge shunt slot on the narrow wall of rectangular waveguide have been derived by the use of electromagnetic field equations. Furthermore, additional formulas for the reflection, transmission coefficient and voltage amplitude generated by given incident wave are described. Finally, the measured results are compared with the theoretical values. It was found that the measured results were consistent with the theoretical results. Also the errors between computed and measured data are described.

  • In this study, a couple of ordinary differential equations which can describe random waves are derived from the Boussinesq equations. Incident random waves are generated by using the TMA(TEXEL storm, MARSEN, ARSLOE) shallow-water spectrum. The governing equations are integrated with the 4-th order Runge-Kutta method. By using newly derived wave equations, nonlinear energy interaction of propagating waves in constant depth is studied. The characteristics of random waves propagate over a sinusoidally varying topography lying on a sloping beach are also investigated numerically. Transmission and reflection of random waves are considerably affected by nonlinearity.

  • In this paper, a design for a radio frequency(RF) and infrared(IR) absorber with metasurfaces is discussed in microwave frequency bands. The RF absorber includes double layers of metasurfaces to operate in S- and X-bands. Effects of sheet resistance of the metasurfaces and thicknesses of dielectric supporting layers on reflection responses are investigated. An IR stealth layer incorporates an array of conductive grids with slits to reflect IR signals but to transmit RF signals and visible rays. Periodicity of the grids and slits is studied for transmission responses in the X-band and a surface area ratio. Reflection responses of the RF/IR multispectral absorber are found to be lower than -10 dB and -16 dB in the S- and X-bands, respectively, from full-wave simulation. Finally, the RF/IR multispectral absorber is fabricated and its reflection responses are measured to verify designed performance.

  • In this paper, we investigate the radio wave radiation pattern to measure the actual field strength for the transmission antenna dipole antenna and the CP-ring antenna being used in our country as FM station, and the comparison was for field application. Compare results, If the transmitting station and the relay station which is located in the middle of a service area has been a useful CP-dipole antenna (four directions). CP-ring antenna having a directivity because the reflection effect of the tower was able to adjust the orientation to prevent the spread of menstrual another service area in the main direction was able to radiate high propagation 5~9dB. Especially, If the transmitting station and the relay station is located on one side of the service area for radiating radio waves in three directions by using the CP-ring antennas focus the orientation of the antenna in populated areas and road area can improve the broadcast reception environment.
