Three kinds of papers were prepared from different beating degree of pulps. Physical and optical properties were examined to elucidate the deterioration mechanism of paper according to beating degrees. Changes of double folds, elongation, water retention value, DP, K/S value and visible, UV region light absorption spectra of those papers treated by UV light were studied. Double folds and brightness were decreased more rapidly by UV treatment with increasing of beating degree. The light absorption rates of pulps in visible and UV region were also increased with change of beating level. The formation of new hydrogen bonds and higher light absorption rate of pulps according to beating induced to absorb and interact with much UV light. These phenomena maybe brought about to accelerate paper deteriortion by UV treatment both optical and physical properties.
The functional properties of sesame protein concentrate(SPC) using different size of ultrafiltration(UF) membranes were examined and compared with those of conventional acid-precipitated sesame protein concentrate. The protein contents of SPC by UF with molecular size of 10K, 30K and look dalton membranes were 84.2%, 82.7%, and 76.4%, respectively, and that of acid-precipitated SPC was 88.7%. The nitrogen solubility of SPC by UF was higher than that of conventional SPC at various pH levels. Especially, it showed three-fold increase at near isoelectric point. However, water absorption capacity and fat absorption capacity of SPC by UF were decreased. For emulsion and foam properties, there were no significant differences between SPC by acid precipitation and SPC by UF method. At various pH levels, SPC by membrane with pore size of 30K dalton showed the highest emulsion properties. The SPC by UF had slightly higher viscosity than defatted sesame flour and SPC by acid precipitation.

In this study, the moisture content, charge discharge current, electrostatic capacity and dielectric loss tangent are measured for the specimen of bisphenol type epoxy resin which is mixed with squared amorphous silica filler and dipped in hot water of $50^{\circ}C$ for 169 days. The results of this study are listed below. The longer of deposition day, the charge and discharge current was increased. It is considered that the reason is because there was water attack through the squared silica surface. The longer of deposition day, the absorption rate of all specimens was increased. It found that the absorption rate reached saturated state after 100 days. The higher frequency and the longer of deposition day, the $tan{\delta}$ was decreased. Also, It found that the $tan{\delta}$ and electrostatic capacity of the specimen which is mixed with squared filler are greater.
Earth is facing a serious problem of pollution and scarcity of energy sources. The synthetic fibers used in automobile and Aerospace manufacturing sectors are non-renewable and harmful to environment. International Agency such as FAA and SAE is forcing for green fuel, green materials and structures. Further exploration is much needed to understand its potential in structural applications. In the current study, hemp and Jute fibre based composites were developed and tested for assessing their suitability for possible applications in automobile and aerospace sectors. Composites were undergone tensile test, water absorption test, and fatigue analysis to understand its behavior under various loading conditions. The finite element analysis has been carried out to understand the fatigue behaviour of composites. The results revealed that the usage of hemp and jute fibre reinforced composites can improve mechanical properties and have shown a viable alternative to replace synthetic fibres such as glass fibres for specific applications. Hemp reinforced bio-composites have shown better performance as compared to Jute reinforced bio-composites while water resistance characteristics for hemp is poorer to jute fibres.

In this study, the different unit cement content by the ratio of water absorption and water-cement ratio are applied to examine the properties of the concrete used the aggregate recycled by the crushing treatment. According to the experimental results, in the mix of low strength and high water-cement ratio, both of the compressive strength is almost equal in the concrete using the recycled aggregate by the crushing treatment and the concrete using broken stones. It means that the recycled aggregate has the low effect of the amount of bonded mortar. But, in the mix of high strength and low water-cement ratio, the concrete using the recycled aggregate by the crushing treatment has 40% less of the compressive strength than that using broken stones by the effect of the amount of bonded mortar. On the other hand, after 8 weeks, the dry shrinkage of the recycled aggregate with 7% of the ratio of water absorption doubles that of the broken stones with 1% ($-350{\times}10^{-6}$), in other words $-700{\times}10^{-6}$. Thus, the dry shrinkage should be prior to any other conditions in recycling waste concrete for the aggregate for concrete. When the recycled aggregate with 3% of the ratio of water absorption is used, the compressive strength of the rich mix concrete ($450kg/m^3$ of the unit cement content) is equivalent to that of the concrete using broken stones, while in using the recycled aggregate with 7% of the ratio of water absorption, the rich mix concrete has 7% lower compressive strength than the concrete using broken stones. But, the compressive strength of the ordinary mix concrete ($350kg/m^3$ of the unit cement content) is far lower than that using broken stones.
In this study, measurements of size-segregated particulate matter (PM) emitted from the combustion of rice straw, pine needles, and sesame stem were conducted in a laboratory chamber. The collected samples were used to analyze amounts of organic and elemental carbon (OC and EC), water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC), humic-like substances (HULIS), and ionic species. The light absorption properties of size-resolved water extracts were measured using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. A solid-phase extraction method was first used to separate the size-resolved HULIS fraction, which was then quantified by a total organic carbon analyzer. The results show that regardless of particle cut sizes, the contributions of size-resolved HULIS ($=1.94{\times}HULIS-C$) to PM size fractions ($PM_{0.32}$, $PM_{0.55}$, $PM_{1.0}$, and $PM_{1.8}$) were similar, accounting for 25.2-27.6, 15.2-22.4 and 28.2-28.7% for rice straw, pine needle, and sesame stem smoke samples, respectively. The $PM_{1.8}$ fraction revealed WSOC/OC and HULIS-C/WSOC ratios of 0.51 and 0.60, 0.44 and 0.40, and 0.50 and 0.60 for the rice straw, pine needle, and sesame stem burning emissions, respectively. Strong absorption with decreasing wavelength was found by the water extracts from size-resolved biomass burning aerosols. The absorption ${\AA}ngstr{\ddot{o}}m $ exponent values of the size-resolved water extracts fitted between 300 and 400 nm wavelengths for particle sizes of $0.32-1.0{\mu}m$ were 6.6-7.7 for the rice straw burning samples, and 7.5-8.0 for the sesame stem burning samples. The average mass absorption efficiencies of size-resolved WSOC and HULIS-C at 365 nm were 1.09 (range: 0.89-1.61) and 1.82 (range: 1.33-2.06) $m^2/g{\cdot}C$ for rice straw smoke aerosols, and 1.13 (range: 0.85-1.52) and 1.83 (range: 1.44-2.05) $m^2/g{\cdot}C$ for sesame stem smoke aerosols, respectively. The light absorption of size-resolved water extracts measured at 365 nm showed strong correlations with WSOC and HULIS-C concentrations ($R^2=0.89-0.93$), indicating significant contribution of HULIS component from biomass burning emissions to the light absorption of ambient aerosols.

In this paper, the physical properties of lightweight aggregate such as density and water absorption according to addition ratio and type of flux were investigated. When using $Na_2CO_3$ as flux of lightweight aggregate, burnability was available at low burning temperature and water absorption increased. And as increasing addition ratio of $CaCO_3$, NaOH, $Fe_2O_3$, absorption decreased and $CaCO_3$, NaOH, $Fe_2O_3$ were considered improper to use flux of lightweight aggregate because of high dried density. $Na_2SO_4$ was proper to use flux of lightweight aggregate due to dried density $1.35{\sim}1.50g/cm^3$ and lower absorption. When using glass abrasive sludge as flux of lightweight aggregate, dried density and water absorption were in the range of $1.45{\sim}1.55g/cm^3$ and 9~12% respectively. It was indicated that as increasing addition ratio of blast furnace slag powder, density increased whereas absorption decreased. In use of oxidizing slag as flux, artificial lightweight aggregate which have dried density $1.46g/cm^3$, water absorption 8,5 % can be manufactured at 10 % of addition ratio.
Magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) have attracted considerable interest in many fields of research and applied science due to their impressive properties. In the past, especially biomedical problems have promoted the development of MNPs. For technical applications e.g. wastewater treatment and absorption of electromagnetic waves, the existing synthesis approaches are too expensive and/or the producible quantities are too low. In this work we present a method for simple preparation of size-controlled magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles by electroerosion dispersion (EED) of carbon steel in water. We describe the synthesis method, the laboratory installation and discuss the structural, chemical and electromagnetic properties of the synthetized EED powders as well as their applicability for microwave absorption compared to other available ferrite powders.
