Second, the CSAT with the vocational education division allowed students to choose a variety of paths after high school whether they be full-time employments or pursuing a degree in universities. Third, the biggest obstacle for the vocational education division in the CSAT is in the most metropolitan universities not honoring the CSAT scores as a criterion in the admission process.

  • Everybody dreams of a bright future. A future career determines the direction and quality of an individual's life. Achieving positive career development is one of the most crucial tasks during adolescence. In both national and personal perspectives, the vocational identity of science-gifted students provides some important points to discuss. The purpose of this study is to examine the vocational identity of science-gifted students. Participants included 103 science-gifted students who have received an acceptance letter from a science-gifted school. The modified VISA (Vocational Identity Status Assessment) model was used to analyze the vocational identities of gifted students with 'a letter to myself in the future'. The study found that vocational identity status of the science-gifted students was determined as Foreclosed and Searching Moratorium. The science-gifted students demonstrated more Commitment than Exploration and Reconsideration. They also showed higher levels in Career Identification, In-Narrow Exploration, and Career Flexibility. In addition, they shared common orientations in vocational identity such as strong enthusiasm, challenging limits, and responsibility towards humanity. We expect that this study will contribute to the social interest of science-gifted students in the area of career education. In order for science-gifted students to nurture their full potential with a deeper awareness of education, follow-up studies have to be conducted to provide greater and ideal career education.

  • This study examined the process of admission selection of vocational high schools and meister high schools and how the process have been utilized by schools to select appropriate students and by students to make decisions for application in consideration of their interests, aptitudes, and career paths. To address the purpose of this study, Focus Group Interviews(FGI) were conducted with three groups of participants: vocational high schools and meister high schools teachers, high school freshmen' parents, and middle school teachers who had many students advanced to vocational and meister high schools. The findings indicated that during the promotion process, schools made efforts to attract students with higher GAP and provided information mainly regarding employment rate instead of curriculum or program of majors. Since schools usually visited middle schools where higher GPA students were, not all students had balanced opportunities of high school promotions and enough information about majors. For the application process, the schools placed a high value on scholastic performance while students applied high schools considering their interests, aptitudes, and career paths. In terms of admission type and criteria, the high school teachers reported no big differences between special admission and general admission while students took advantage from the special admission process which was less competitive than general admission. Based on the findings, a number of suggestions were made in order to improve the process of admission selection of vocational high schools and meister high schools.

  • Objectives : This study was aimed at exploring career-related characteristics of premedical students in Korean Medicine college and those relationships with career development readiness and vocational value. Methods : A total of 140 premedical students participated in the survey. The questionnaire consisted of demographic characteristics and career-related characteristics such as motive for career choice, specialty preference after college graduation, and school life adaptation. Also they responded in the web-survey of career development readiness inventory and vocational value inventory developed by Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training. Eight items of motive for career choice were collected from the pilot study from 70 premedical students. Results : 'Job stability' was the top motive for career choice(25.5%). The average college life adaptation score was relatively low(13.7) : higher in male(14.3) and the early career decision group(14.2) than female (12.9) and late decision group(12.9), which was statistically significant(p=0.019 and p=0.036, respectively) in the subgroup analyses. The result of career development readiness inventory showed that 'self-knowledge' (79.3) and 'confidence on career decision' (78.6) were the two highest, which is similar to the result of the vocational value inventory ('fulfilling abilities' and 'self-improvement'). More characteristics were also described. Conclusions : The results showed that Korean Medicine premedical students have high vocational identity. This study suggested that more specified studies for identifying career-related characteristics for Korean Medical students should be conducted in order to design systematic and professional medical education programs.

In the analysis phase, the existing studies related to vocational competency training were analyzed along with an analysis of the current education programs and suitability assessment. Based on the analysis, the education program was designed and contents were determined. The program consisted of 5 chapters and 17 unit hours of instruction. Reigeluth's (1987) theory was used as the framework for organizing educational materials in the development phase. The programs were implemented on students and evaluated by students as well as experts. Students evaluated the program in terms of the degree of motivation for learning, comprehension of learning content, perceptions of lessons in classes as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the program. • The purpose of this study is that the Van Hiele theory can be applied to even vocational high school students. Through the comparison of Van Hiele level distribution of middle school students and high school students, it is that the aims of this study is to study the geomatric level of vocational high school students and to analize them, even so it can be to find for them the effective method of Geomatric education The subject of study is three kinds of vocational high school - commercial high school, industrial high school, fisheries high school - boys (240), girls (120) in Boryeong city, Chungchong Nam Do. We referred to Kim Mi-cheong′ thesis(1994) and Cheong Yean-sok′s thesis(1992) and compared my result with them. The method and the process of the study were based on the th method of CDASSG project. And we used Van Hiele Level Test as an instrument of measurement. We got the following conclusion as the result of the study 1. The 86% of the subject of the study was applied to the theory of Van Hiele - "Any students can reach level n just through level n-1." Even so the propriety of the theory proved to be from this study again. 2. The 88% of the subject of the study is applicable to below level 2. So if the proof is introduced to them in the class, it was very difficult for them to understand it. 3. The geometric level of vocational high school students is the same as the second grade of middle school. But we think to be desirable that a basic concept puts first in importance through recomposed teaching materials, because 68% of the students is seldom changed at level 1.
