Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of maternal monitoring, shared activities with children, maternal education-oriented behavior, and allowing children to own smart-phones on smart media usage patterns based on smart-phone usage time and purposes among elementary school children. Methods: The participants were 1,315 second-grade elementary school children from the 9th wave of PSKC. Latent profile analysis and the three-step estimation approach were used to examine the determinants of the latent profile and the effects of maternal parenting on the profile. Results: Four latent profiles were identified: 'High-level usage & Entertaining oriented,' 'Moderate-level usage & Social/entertaining oriented,' 'Moderate-level usage & Learning oriented,' and 'Low-level usage.' Additionally, results showed that each profile can be predicted by maternal monitoring, education-oriented behavior, and permitting children to own smart-phones. Conclusion/Implications: Our outcomes suggested that it would be necessary to understand the smart media usage patterns of elementary school children, considering both the amount of time spent with smart media and purposes of uses. Further, it is helpful for mothers to monitor children's daily activities, support their educational activities, and take the role of gatekeeper for smart media as a way of appropriate guidance for their children's use of smart media.

Today, many services are supported on the web sites. Analysis of usage patterns of web site visitors is very important to optimize the use and efficiency of the web sites. In this study, analysis of usage patterns and comparative analysis of user groups were conducted by analyzing web access log provided by BPI Challenge 2016. This data provides access logs to the web site in the IT system of a Dutch Employee Insurance Agency (UWV). The customer information, and the click data describing the customers' behavior when using the agency's web site. In this study, we use process mining techniques to analyze the usage patterns of customers and the characteristics of customer groups, and ultimately improve the service quality of customers using web services.

Speech recognition has recently been investigated to produce more reliable recognition results in a noisy environment, by integrating diverse sources of information into the result derivation-level or producing new results through post-processing the prior recognition results. In this paper we propose a method which uses the user's usage patterns and the context information in speech command recognition for personal mobile devices to improve the recognition accuracy in a noisy environment. Sequential usage (or speech) patterns prior to the current command spoken are used to adjust the base recognition results. For the context information, we use the relevance between the current function of the device in use and the spoken command. Our experiment results show that the proposed method achieves about 50% of error correction rate over the base recognition system. It demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed method.

The study was intended to suggest the efficient usage plan of the village community center in rural area by examining the floor plan and usage pattern of the village community center and the needs of the elderly for them. This would be helpful to the welfare of the elderly in rural areas. The subjects were 24 community centers and representatives of each village, and 96 old peoples lived in there, GyungNam. The data were collected by sketching and taking pictures of community centers, and interviewing with the representatives and old peoples. The results were as follows : 1) when the percentage of old population, the physical conditions of private houses of the elderly, and the usage pattern and needs for village community center were considered, the village community center as the welfare center for the elderly would be efficient. 2) The necessary spaces in village community center were entrance, kitchen, 2 rooms, living room, restroom, and storage. In addition to these, healthcare room or auditorium can be added according to the conditions of each village. 3) The elderly wanted the village community center as a social exchange space. Therefore, two rooms which many centers had, can be used for it, one for men and another one for women. 4) The living room can be used as the space for dining. 5) Maintenance and its fee should be considered at the stage of planning. 6) The outdoor toilets should be upgraded and the indoor restroom would be desirable.

The purpose of this study is to make effective mobile grid considered general environment, which can be summarized as irregular mobility, service exploration, data sharing, variety of machines, limit to the battery duration, etc. The data was extracted from the Dartmouth College. We analysed mobile use pattern of a specific group and applied pattern using hybrid method. As a result, we could adjust infra usage effectively and appropriately and cost cutting and increase satisfaction of user. In this study, by applying weighting method based on access time interval, we analysed use pattern added time variation with association rule during users in mobile grid environment. We proposed more stable way to manage patterns in a mobile grid environment that is being used as a hybrid form to process the data value received from the server in real time. Further studies are needed to get appropriate use pattern by group using use patterns of various groups.

As the growth rate of IPTV VOD usage increases it is necessary to analyze VOD usage patterns systematically. This study divides VOD users into free VOD and paid VOD users, then explores how VOD usage motivations, usage patterns, and demographic factors affect the differences between two groups. The results show that social motivation, VOD satisfaction, using content after the holdback expiration, an intention to pay for ad-skip, the proportion of VOD usage, a VOD give-up experience, TV usage time, and SVOD usage time, are statistically significant. Except the VOD satisfaction factor, all of the factors analyzed are more likely to expect paid VOD users. Additionally this study found paid VOD users are more likely to use a SVOD service as an alternative one compared with free VOD users.

This study examines the effect of changes in the content distribution strategy on VOD usage by comparing the VOD usage pattern following the changes in the IPTV and Digital Cable SVOD holdback policy. The result of this study shows that after changing the SVOD holdback from one week to three weeks, the VOD usage decreased up to 50 percent while paid VOD revenue increased as a result of the rise in PPM. The time series analysis shows statistical decrease in the number of SVOD usage, SVOD usage per user, and PPV revenue per user while VOD revenue per user increased significantly. Moreover, SVOD usage within the drama genres such as mini-series, weekend series, weekend special series, and sitcom decreased significantly. This research provides a case study on the effect of the broadcaster's content distribution policy on the VOD user behavior thus proposing broadcasters and platform operators the ways of establishing distribution strategy as well as invigorating the VOD usage.

Recently OTT video service has grown rapidly and has a negative impact on the growth of pay-TV subscribers. Consequently the substitution of OTT services for pay-TV services will begin. This study explores OTT usage patterns, dividing into three sectors (OTT service use, OTT usage volume, and paid-OTT service use), by considering users' demographice factors, smart device ownership, pay-TV subscription, and bundle service use, by employing the Mediapanel dataset. The results showed that age, income, smartTV usage, market size, cable/satellite subscribers, TV VOD expenses, movie VOD expenses, and mobile bundle use are associated with OTT service use. The results also showed that age, household sizes, tablePC usgage, cable/satellite subscribers, TV VOD expenses, other VOD expenses, and unlimited data plans are associated with OTT usage volume. Lastly the results showed that age, gender, income, tabletPC usage, cable subscribers, other VOD expenses, mobile bundle usage, and unlimited data plans are associated with paid-OTT service use.

This research explores the empirical confirmation of the Internet development including from the period of innovation to the time of social-cultural use in today. The research focused on how tradition news media rover about the Internet developed from early to today, and understanding the media characteristics on the each stages from news frame. The research Is designed to conduit content analysis from 1989 to 2004, then this research is divided four(4) stages of the Internet development: innovation, diffusion, commercial usage, social-cultural usage. The results shows that there are significant different coverage by the stages. First of all, the news coverage pattern shift from technology focused on early stages to social usage focused on the later stages. This research confirms that the ratio of the seriation(technology) coverage defined when social usage is increased, on the other hand skeumorphs(social usage and content) coverage is increased in the commercial and social usage stages. This coverage pattern among news media does not such a big different and there is no competitive coverage. Moreover, the news coverage shifted from thematic coverage on early stages to episodic coverage while the number of usage increasing. In addition, the tone of coverage has not been changed significantly.

This study investigated the use of grammatical markers of Korean speaking children(from 3 to 8 years old) and adults. Participants had no problem of speech and language. In this paper we examined the usage of grammatical markers were increasing from 3 to 8 years old even though it was still increasing after 8 years old. Specifically, they used subjective marker and adverb marker at all ages in large. A few adjective marker were used at all age group including adults. But the frequency of objective marker is increasing from 3 to adults. The pattern of usage is getting similar to adult's. The present study was also designed to investigate the characteristics of children's errors of grammatical markers. Results showed that there were a little differences among the age-groups. The substitution errors were occurred most frequently in all age-groups.
