  • In this paper, blows-up and global solutions for a class of nonlinear divergence form parabolic equations with the abstract form of $({\varrho}(u))_t$ and time dependent coefficients are considered. The conditions are established for the existence of a solution globally and also the conditions are established for the blow up of the solution at some finite time. Moreover, the lower bound and upper bound of the blow-up time are derived if blow-up occurs.

  • Two-dimensional steady flow of two immiscible, compressible fluids are considered when the temperature of each layer is constant. Both upper and lower fluids are bounded by two horizontal rigid boundaries with symmetric obstruction of compact support at the tourer boundary. By using asymptotic method, we derive the forced K-dV equation governing interfacial wave. Various solutions and numerical results are presented.

  • In this paper, we apply the generalized quasilinearization technique to a forced Duffing equation with three-point mixed nonlinear nonlocal boundary conditions and obtain sequences of upper and lower solutions converging monotonically and quadratically to the unique solution of the problem.

  • In this paper, we introduce two kinds of generalized vector quasivariational-like inequalities for multivalued mappings and show the existence of solutions to those variational inequalities under compact and non-compact assumptions, respectively.

  • This study was accomplished by measuring the lower and upper flash point with air blowing method and grasping the characteristics of flammability for the three component systems, which are made up of the Benzene-Toluene-o-Xylene and Methylethylketone-Toluene-o-Xylene. These three component systems are widely used in the various industrial fields together with the development of industry. The results are as follows ; 1 ) Isothermal line is plotted on the triangular diagram for flash points determined in each solutions. From this line, the mixed compositions which indicated the same lower and upper flash points in each different composition could be read on this diagram, if the composition of mixtures are known. 2) Lower and upper explosion limits obtained from the flash points determined for the three component solution are compared with the value calculated from Le Chatelier's law. Especially the lower explosion limits are in a good agreement with the calculated values.

  • A new helical gear extrusion process was proposed and its numerical solution program based on the upper bound method was developed. In the analysis the involute curve was used as a shape of die and the upper bound method was used to calculate energy dissipation rate. By this method the power requirement and optimum conditions necessary for extruding helical gear were successfully calculated. These numerical solutions were in good agreement with experimental data. In the experiment, die life was greatly improved compared with that of Samanta process and 4 .approx. 5 class helical gear of KS standard for automobile transmission was successfully manufactured.

  • This paper describes the forging of circular tooth profiled gears as a series of development of simulator for non-axisymmetric parts that being used at the pump pulley, timing belt pulley etc. in automobiles. The half pitch of gear is divided into 6 deformation regious and kinematically admissible velocity fields for those regions are proposed. The neutral surface is introduced torepresent inner flow of material during forging operation with flat punch and, for each step, it is assumed as a circle. The upper bound solutions obtained from the suggested kinematically admissible velocity fields are in good agreement with experimental results and they are useful to predict the capacity of forging press for forging of circular gears.

  • Forging of trapezoidal spline, serration and square spline with solid cylindrical billets and hollow one has been investigated by means of upper bound method. Kinematically admissible velocity fields for forging of splines have been proposed in this study. The half pitch of spline has been divided into several deformation regions. The neutral surface is introduced into forging of splines with flat punch and, for each step, it is assumed as a circle with its radius $r_n$. Upper bound solutions obtained by proposed kinematically admissible velocity fields are useful to predict the loads for forging of splines.

  • The non-linear Hoek-Brown failure criterion has been widely accepted and applied to evaluate the stability of rock slopes under plane-strain conditions. This paper presents a kinematic approach of limit analysis to assessing the static and seismic stability of three-dimensional (3D) rock slopes using the generalized Hoek-Brown failure criterion. A tangential technique is employed to obtain the equivalent Mohr-Coulomb strength parameters of rock material from the generalized Hoek-Brown criterion. The least upper bounds to the stability number are obtained in an optimization procedure and presented in the form of graphs and tables for a wide range of parameters. The calculated results demonstrate the influences of 3D geometrical constraint, non-linear strength parameters and seismic acceleration on the stability number and equivalent strength parameters. The presented upper-bound solutions can be used for preliminary assessment on the 3D rock slope stability in design and assessing other solutions from the developing methods in the stability analysis of 3D rock slopes.
