The Validation Test process and CTE Suitability Evaluation based on IEC-61508 for Improving Safety and Reliability on Unmanned ICT Parcel Storage

  • In modern society, since the expansion of the e-commerce market and the spread of the pandemic, face-to-face business are gradually changing to non-face-to-face. In the logistics industry, the demand for unmanned courier storage is increasing due to lack of loading space from urbanization and courier theft accidents. As the demand for unmanned parcel lockers increases, improved functions such as food storage and efficient space loading are required. This study develops an integrated model-based evaluation procedure of product based on performance factors according to the IEC 61508 standard for newly unmanned parcel storage devices with active loading technology, and derive Critical Technology Element based on the product's core functions and performance goals. As proposing these research, We expect improve the safety and reliability of development targets by identifying and evaluating elements.

A Study on the Combination of Manned-unmanned Teaming for Future Ground Combat Victory

  • This study is for manned-unmanned teaming battles for future ground combat victories. The composition of the study is as follows. The introduction to Chapter 1 presents the necessity of this study from a macro perspective, Chapter 2, the review of the complex combat system for both manned and unmanned introduced the paradigm shift of the future battlefield and the cyber area that is superconnected to the network in future wars. Chapter 3 analyzed the combined combat system of manned-unmanned teaming in advanced military countries through the cases of the United States and Israel. In Chapter 4, after discussing the direction of the development of combat performance of the Korean Army, was concluded in Chapter 5. In other words, the purpose of this study is that as the concept of fighting artificial intelligence robots and military innovation changes, the method of performing battles must be changed in order for our military to win the battle.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive the combat effect by applying combat experiments when operating a future manned/unmanned mixed infantry squad that combines the technology according to the development of advanced science and technology along with changes in the 4th industrial revolution. Contrary to conventional battles involving humans and manually-operated weaponry, modern-day warfare relies on unmanned, automated and intelligence technologies. In order to respond to these changes and prepare for future warfare, the combat effect of future manned and unmanned mixed infantry squads through combat experiments in terms of finding ways to supplement the structure of the squad that conducts direct combat as the most basic organization of the army was measured, and it was confirmed that there was an effect to a certain extent. When seeking the development of the future manned/unmanned mixed infantry squad unit structure, if the AWAM model is used in various combat situations, it will help to find a more optimized future manned/unmanned mixed infantry squad unit structure.

  • An unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) refers to an aircraft that has all or part of its functions to autonomously fly by grasping the surrounding environment by remote control on the ground without a pilot on board. With the development of unmanned aerial technology, civil/military forces are developing unmanned aerial vehicles for various purposes. In order to control unmanned aerial vehicles from the ground, communication protocols between unmanned aerial vehicles and ground control equipment are required, and civil/military forces have developed and used a photocall for different purposes. In this study, the characteristics of the MAVLink protocol used in the private sector and the STANAG 4586 protocol used in the military are compared/analyzed in detail to find elements to complement each other and to draw improvement measures for protocol unification.

  • In the future battlefield centered on the concept of mosaic warfare, the need for an unmanned combat system will increase to value human life. It is necessary for Multiple/Heterogeneous Unmanned Combat Systems to have suitable mission planning method in order to perform various mission. In this paper, we propose the MTSR model for mission planning of the unmanned combat system, and introduce a method of identifying a task by a combination of services using a request operator and a method of allocating resources to perform a task using the requested service. In order to verify the performance of the proposed task-resource matchmaking algorithm, simulation using occupation scenarios is performed and the results are analyzed.

  • An automatic measurement system which collects experimental data at an unmanned station where the networking to the internet could not be accessed was developed. With a Robo-rail accessing to the unmanned station, wireless local networking between server PC at the Rob-rail and client PC at the unmanned station is possible within 30 m from an access point equipment located at the unmanned station. An algorithm for transferring the data file which is saved in the client PC at the unmanned station to the server PC in the Robo-rail was proposed. IEEE-1394 camera was used to collect the data at the client PC. An extracting program from the IEEE-1394 captured images to character data and number data was developed using image processing technique, which drastically reduces the size of data file comparing to that of the raw image file.

  • Recently, ordinary mail is decreasing continuously by the development of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) including E-mail, messenger service, and etc. On the contrary, parcel post is increasing by the increase of online shopping, home shopping, and etc. Aside from these changes, the demand for various mail acceptance and delivery means is increasing with the increase of single households and dual-income couples. To overcome these environmental changes, Korea Post installs unmanned post offices which are composed of various unmanned mail acceptance and delivery postal systems. In this paper, we propose the methodological approach for the site selection of unmanned post office among the existing post offices and the installation standard of unmanned postal system considering the operation cost by the mail volume.

Analysis of trends on patents for unmanned technology used in agriculture

  • This study analyzed the trends of patents for unmanned technology used in agriculture. The target countries for this survey of patent data were Korea, the USA and Japan as well as the countries in Europe. The indices used in this study to analyze the patents were the CPP (Cites Per Patent), PII (Patent Impact Index), and PFS (Patent Family Size). The total effective patents for unmanned technology used in agriculture were 1,080 cases. The number of patents in the USA, Japan, Europe, and Korea were 541, 326, 128 and 85 cases, respectively. Among the total effective patents, the evaluation scores for selected important patents were calculated by applying commonly used weights to each index, and the top 10 patents were selected as important patents. The results showed that all the top ten patents are owned by the United States and that the United States is an advanced country in the field of unmanned technology used in agriculture. The evaluation score of the important patents using the existing method was biased toward the PII index among the three patent evaluation standards, and the effects of the number of claims and the PFS were relatively small. Therefore, a reliable patent analysis in the field of unmanned technology used in agriculture needs to reflect the overall evaluation factors taking into consideration the scope of the evaluation factors.

  • Unmanned technology is a representative technology that integrates various technologies like electric, electronic, mechanical, artificial intelligence, ICT technology, ect. In special emphasize, ground technology has been developing exponentially in the military field and expanding its utilization area. The patent information analysis method presented in this study, proposes a new patent analysis methodology for patent information analysis and patent information on unmanned ground technology. The patent information analysis processor has 6 levels to extract core patents and technologies. The process consists of: selection of technology to be analyzed, classification of detailed technology / key keyword selection, patent information collection / noise reduction, selection of patent information analysis method, patent information analysis, finally, core patents and key technologies that are extracted. Patent information on unmanned ground technology is also analyzed in this study. First, the technical classification of ground unmanned technology is carried out in detail. The core technology and core patents of ground unmanned technology were extracted through CPP and IPC code connectivity analysis. The results of patent information analysis using proposed patent information analysis method that can be applied to various fields of technology and analysis. These can be used as a material to forecast the direction of future research and development on the technology to be analyzed.

  • To strategically select the technology priority based on the understanding of technology development trends and prospects is very important. To provide such guidance for autonomous driving technology in unmanned ground combat vehicles, this report deals with followings; 1) The core technologies for autonomous driving are reviewed. 2) And domestic and foreign policies for relevant technology development are investigated. 3) Then, to estimate the technology development trend, the published patents and research papers are analyzed. 4) Based on those analyses, domestic technology level and development prospects are expected.
