Development of an In-process Confocal Positioning System for Nanostereolithography Using Evanescent Light

  • A novel stereolithography method using evanescent light has been proposed as a means to realize 100-nanometer resolution. An in-process measurement system with high accuracy has been introduced to the nanostereolithography apparatus. Specifically, an optical microscopic system was developed to monitor the exposure process and a confocal positioning system was established to improve the longitudinal positioning accuracy in the layer-by-layer process. A high-power objective lens, a tube lens, and a charge coupled device (CCD) were included in the optical microscopic system, whereas a laser, a high-power objective lens, a piezoelectric (PZT) stage, a condenser lens, a pinhole, and a photomultiplier (PMT) made up the confocal microscopic system. Two verification experiments were conducted, and the results indicated that the optical microscopic system had a horizontal resolution of 200 nm and that the confocal positioning system provided a depth resolution of 30.8 nm. These results indicate that nanostereolithography can be successfully performed with this system.

  • This paper proposes a new type of bearing system. In this study, a method for design of on elastomeric bearing system and its mechanical property analysis are carried. Experimental and theoretical studies of the elastomeric bearings with fiber reinforcement were proved effective new lightweight bearing system. The fibers in the bearings for isolation are assumed to be flexible in extension, in contrast to the steel plates in the conventional bearing system. Several kinds of bearing systems in the form of long strips are designed, fabricated and tested. The results suggest that it is possible to produce the economical and effective fiber-reinforced elastomeric bearing that matches the behavior of a steel-reinforced bearing. Feasibility and advantages of the proposed bearings are illustrated by the application of the analytic procedure to the structure system. Results obtained here are reported to be an efficient approach with respect to bearing system and design of bearing against shock absorbing system when compared with other conventional one.

Analysis of Key Parameters for Inductively Coupled Power Transfer Systems Realized by Detuning Factor in Synchronous Generators

  • In this paper, a detuning factor (DeFac) method is proposed to design the key parameters for optimizing the transfer power and efficiency of an Inductively Coupled Power Transfer (ICPT) system with primary-secondary side compensation. Depending on the robustness of the system, the DeFac method can guarantee the stability of the transfer power and efficiency of an ICPT system within a certain range of resistive-capacitive or resistive-inductive loads. A MATLAB-Simulink model of a ICPT system was built to assess the system's main evaluation criteria, namely its maximum power ratio (PR) and efficiency, in terms of different approaches. In addition, a magnetic field simulation model was built using Ansoft to specify the leakage flux and current density. Simulation results show that both the maximum PR and efficiency of the ICPT system can reach almost 70% despite the severe detuning imposed by the DeFac method. The system also exhibited low levels of leakage flux and a high current density. Experimental results confirmed the validity and feasibility of an ICPT system using DeFac-designed parameters.

  • Recently, stereotactic radiosurgery plan is required with the information of 3-D image and dose distribution. A project has been doing if developing LINAC based stereotactic radiosurgery since April 1991. The purpose of this research is to develop 3-D radiosurgery planning system using personal computer. The procedure of this research is based on two steps. The first step is to develop 3-D localization system, which input the image information of the patient, coordinate transformation, the position and shape of target, and patient contour into computer system using CT image and stereotactic frame. The second step is to develop 3-D dose planning system, which compute dose distribution on image plane, display on high resolution monitor both isodose distribution and patient image simultaneously and develop menu-driven planning system. This prototype of radiosurgery planning system was applied recently for several clinical cases. It was shown that our planning system is fast, accurate and efficient while making it possible to handle various kinds of image modalities such as angiography, CT and MRI. It makes it possible to develop general 3-D planning system using beam's eye view or CT simulation in radiation therapy in future.

  • There have been several papers to illustrate how an information system is used in an automated warehouse system. These papers, however. do not carefully address the role of warehouse planning/control systems nor do they recognize how to integrate the management planning/control systems, and automated warehouse system. This article addresses such issues and shows how a business computer system can be used to integrate and unify the warehouse planning/control systems and the automated warehouse system into it single and highly productive operating system.

  • A sensitive eight-channel high-Tc Superconducting Interference Device (SQUID) detection system for magnetic contaminant in a lithium ion battery anode was developed. Finding ultra-small metallic foreign matter is an important issue for a manufacturer because metallic contaminants carry the risk of an internal short. When contamination occurs, the manufacturer of the product suffers a great loss from recalling the tainted product. Metallic particles with outer dimensions smaller than 100 microns cannot be detected using a conventional X-ray imaging system. Therefore, a highly sensitive detection system for small foreign matter is required. We have already developed a detection system based on a single-channel SQUID gradiometer and horizontal magnetization. For practical use, the detection width of the system should be increased to at least 65 mm by employing multiple sensors. In this paper, we present an 8-ch high-Tc SQUID roll-to-roll system for inspecting a lithium-ion battery anode with a width of 65 mm. A special microscopic type of a cryostat was developed upon which eight SQUID gradiometers were mounted. As a result, small iron particles of 35 microns on a real lithium-ion battery anode with a width of 70 mm were successfully detected. This system is practical for the detection of contaminants in a lithium ion battery anode sheet.

공간관리 현황조사를 통한 대학시설관리방안에 관한 연구 - 국립대학의 사례를 중심으로 (A Study on the Facility Management Method through Actual Condition of Space Management - Based on the National University)

  • To enhance the administrational efficiency and for university facility and space management to be public, this research suggests a competent and an objective evaluation system and index. The study will assist national and university finances to contribute towards advanced education. Furthermore, figure out the space management condition of national university by utilizing the evaluation system, and through that suggesting efficient special management method. According to the result of this study, evaluation system for university facility can be widely divided into seven categories; system preparation, members conference, propriety of space allocation, propriety of management system, space use ratio, time control of space use, imposition index of surplus use. Based on these subdivisions, the space management category contains 19 evaluation items and the marking system allows perfect score of 100 points. In result of examining space management condition using the evaluation system, space management was well enforced in research focused university group where as in education centered university group, it shows relatively low enforcement. It also illustrated that efforts of evaluation items were required in categories of imposition index of surplus use and special use ratio in order for efficient space management.

  • Quadruple tank liquid level systems are popular in testing multivariable control systems for multivariable processes with positive or negative zeros. The liquid level system is nonlinear and it will help to illustrate the robustness of control systems. However, due to nonlinearity, it can be cumbersome to obtain process parameters for testing linear control systems. Perturbation sizes are limited for valid linearized process models, requiring level sensors with high precision. A simple method where the outlet orifice is replaced to a long tube is proposed here. The effluent flow rate becomes proportional to the liquid level due to the friction loss of long tube and the liquid level system shows near linear dynamics. It is applied to the quadruple tank system for easier experiments.

  • In this paper, we proposes the design of laundry system for low power and smart management. The low power system configures the network with the RF communication module that turn on/off periodically, power consumption less than operating the module all the time without it toggles. The smart management is RFID Laundry Management System (LMS), in order to provide high services, low operation costs and better monitoring. The proposed system consists of RFID tag, wireless RFID hanger and MFC software. To compare with other existing RFID system, our system was developed as a web application. Therefore, customer can check their cloth status through web page or smartphone devices. RFID reader was designed on hanger to make our system enables reliable running effectively. Some results on the performance of an implementation are presented.
