  • This study examined whether specific coping strategies for the university entrance examination stress are related to high school seniors' depression and whether these strategies moderate the relationship between additional life event stress and depression. A sample of 358 high school seniors reported their level of additional life event stress, coping strategies they were using to handle examination stress, and their levels of depression. Problem-focused coping strategies and affective-regulation coping strategies were found to be related to reduction in depression. And, coping with examination stress was found to be related to depression independent of the level of additional life event stress.

The Effects of Entrance Examination Stress on Oral Health Behavior and Subjective Oral Health in Female High School Students

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of entrance exam stress on oral health behaviors and subjective oral health status in female high school students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was administered to 216 female high school students in the Gwangju area. We performed an independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The average of the entrance exam stress was 2.73, and among the sub-areas, the tension for exam/poor stress was the highest with 3.21. As a result of analysis of general characteristics and subjective oral health status, oral mucosal disease was lower in family income level (p<0.05), bad breath was significantly higher with lower academic performance (p<0.001) and family income level (p<0.05). As a result of oral health behavior and subjective oral health status analysis, dental caries has more than 4 times of caries snacks (per week) (p<0.05), bad breath was found to be more perceived when the average number of daily brushing was 2 or less (p<0.01). Factors affecting subjective oral health status were that dental caries was a patients pressure stress (β=0.202); temporomandibular disorder (β=0.227), xerostomia (β=0.342), and oral mucosal disease (β=0.190) were insufficient spare time; bad breath was academic performance (lower) (β=0.231) and insufficient spare time (β=0.184). There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the subjective oral health status and the subarea of entrance exam stress, excluding future uncertainty stress. Conclusion: It is considered that oral health education should be conducted to prevent oral diseases for students with high parental pressure and insufficient spare time stress as well as finding practical ways to reduce entrance stress.

  • As the importance of informatics education has been accentuated all around the world, Japan is considering adopting 'informatics' as a subject in the university entrance examination from 2020. Under these circumstances, Informatics university entrance research group in Japan has annually conducted an 'informatics' nationwide mock test since 2013 to prepare for the time when 'informatics' is adopted as a subject in the university entrance exam and has accumulated the data which help understand the informatics education level of high school students and its trend. This study thus provided the Korean high school students with the questions which are the same as those from the informatics nationwide mock tests conducted in Japan so far in order to identify the education level of informatics among Korean and Japanese students. Overall mean scores and mean scores in each subject of Korean and Japanese students in the 2015 informatics nationwide mock tests were compared and analyzed and the gender analysis was conducted. These results will be expected to suggest the direction for the future informatics education such as adopting 'informatics' as a subject in the university entrance exam in order to be a compulsory subject in the high school curriculum that can ensure the required skills in society.

Variations in Entrance of Vertebral Artery in Korean Cervical Spine: MDCT-based Analysis

  • Background: Knowledge of the anatomical variation of the vertebral artery has clinical importance not only for the performance of interventional or surgical procedures itself but also to ensure their safety. We conducted a study of the anatomical variation by reviewing multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) images of the cervical spine from 460 Korean patients. Methods: 16-row MDCT data from 460 patients were used in this study. We observed 920 vertebral arteries. Examination points included level of entrance of the artery into the transverse foramen of the cervical vertebra, origin site of the vertebral artery, course of a vertebral artery with aberrant entrance. Result: The vertebral artery in 2 (0.2%) cases in this study entered into the transverse foramen of the 7th cervical vertebra from the left. In 45 (4.9%) cases, the vertebral artery entered into the transverse foramen of the 5th cervical vertebra. Of these, the entrance was on the right in 15 (1.6%) and on the left in 30 (3.3%). We found 17 (1.8%) cases in which the artery entered into the transverse foramen of the 4th cervical vertebra, 10 (1.1%) on the right and 7 (0.7%) on the left side. As is commonly acknowledged, the 6th cervical vertebra was the most common site of entry; the vertebral artery entered the transverse foramen of the 6th cervical vertebra in the remaining 855 (93.0%) cases, on the right in 434 (47.2%) and on the left in 421 (45.8%). Conclusions: In conclusion, the possibility of an atypical course of the vertebral artery in segments V1 and V2 should be evaluated with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or CT images before carrying out procedures involving the anterior cervical vertebrae.

Development of Internet-Based College Matriculation System Using Web 2.0 (Web 2.0을 활용한 인터넷 기반의 대학입학관리시스템 개발)

  • The information of university entrance examination is important information to examinees as well as each universities. And this information can be used various fields. By using this information, examinees can choose the university which is most suitable regions through oneself's grade, and universities can decide the entrance policy and public relations of university. Furthermore, this information can be used important data to promote student's welfare. Therefore the introduction of College Matriculation System which can share between examinees and universities is keenly required. This study has developed the College Matriculation System which is Web2.0- based by using Naver Map API. By using this system, the information about candidates, and successful candidates and registrants for admission can be analysed, also the ratio of successful candidates in comparison with candidates and the change ratio of candidates during these three years can be analyzed. Besides, it can be supported the entrance public relations policy of universities by managing the public relations history, and it can be provided the information of university by grade to examinees on matriculation information based. Therefore, it was possible that manage and practical use of various data through connected with map based on web 2.0 which is opened. And it is considered possible to express more various information based on map constructing GIS system of user center that is not GIS system of existent offerer center.

Changes in Secondary Education Costs (1990-2004) (중고교의 교육서비스 가격변화에 대한 분석(1990-2004))

  • This research was conducted to find out price change of education service. Consumer Price Index annual series data in Korea National Statistical office from 1990 to 2004 were used for analysis. First, education price indexes showed an average annual increase of 7.3% during the last 15 years (1990-2004), marking the highest increase among items in the CPI basket. The average annual increase in tuition fees and other fees, expenditure classes of education price. has been 7.5% and 6.0%, respectively. Secondly, an average increase in tuition fees for two-year college was higher, followed by tuition fees for kindergarten, private four-year college, national four-year college and secondary schools. An average increase in primary school textbook costs was higher in the category of 'other fees' followed by junior high school textbook costs, junior high school supplementary book costs and home delivery supplementary book costs Thirdly, there were no differences in price changes of secondary school textbooks, junior high school supplementary books, high school supplementary books among 16 locations. An average increase in after-school education (selective subjects) for college entrance examination was higher in Gwangju but lower in Seoul, compared with other cities. An average of 7% difference was seen annually among regions. When the year 2000 was considered as 100, the most significant gains were seen in Kwangju at 80% and Gangwon at 57%. An increase in after-school education (all subjects) for college entrance examination was higher in South Cholla Province but lower in North Gyeongsang Province. An increase in after-school education (all subjects) for college entrance examination was higher in South Cholla Province but lower in North Gyeongsang Province. An average of 7% difference was seen annually in the annual increase. When the year 2000 was considered 100, most significant increase was seen in Busan and South Gyeongsang Province at 37% and Jeju Island at 34%.

  • This study analyses the cross-application system, one of the diversified college admission processes, based on the entrance examination system by the reorganization of the education curriculum. In addition, this study suggests an improvement direction of mathematics education for students who cross-apply by comparing and analysing academic results in Calculus for those students entering universities through the cross-application system.

  • University entrance for technical high school students in Japan is politically promoted from a viewpoint of lifelong learning. Therefore, the Japanese universities (faculty of engineering) are pressed on the necessity of making the reform for educational methods which are based on the premise of systematic study from high school to university. In Nagasaki University, the special entrance of students who were graduated from technical high school was started from 1995. Now, we are strengthening basic academic ability for them by developmental (remedial) education under a new educational-learning model called "engineering power" cultivation. We are promoting the examination of the instructional method and the development of teaching-materials, which become adequate to the student's actual condition, with technical high school teachers and the professors of our university through the observing of student's learning process and their lesson.

Study on Usefulness of Entrance Surface Dose (ESD), Entropy Analysis Method to Evaluate Ionization Chamber Performance and Implementation of Optimal Chamber Combination Model when using Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) Device in Digital Radiography (DR) (디지털 방사선 시스템(DR)의 자동노출제어장치 이용 시 이온 챔버의 성능 평가를 위한 엔트로피 분석법의 유용성과 최적의 챔버 조합 모델 구현 연구)

  • This study aimed to propose a methodology for quantitatively analyzing problems resulting from the performance and combination of the ionization chamber when using an automatic exposure control (AEC) and to optimize the performance of the digital radiography (DR). In the experimental method, the X-ray quality of the parameters used for the examination of the abdomen and pelvis was evaluated by percentage average error (PAE) and half value layer (HVL). Then, the stability of the radiation output and the image quality were analyzed by calculating the entrance surface dose (ESD) and entropy when the three ionization chambers were combined. As a result, all of the X-ray quality of the digital radiography used in the experiment showed a percentage average error and a half value layer in the normal range. The entrance surface dose increased in proportion to the combination of chambers, and entropy increased in proportion to the combination of ionization chambers except when three chambers were combined. In conclusion, analysis using entrance surface dose and entropy was found to be a useful method for evaluating the performance and combination problems of the ionization chamber, and the optimal performance of the digital radiography can be maintained when two or less ionization chambers are combined.

  • Current Internet system of the entrance exam information to the university that is depending on searching key to solve the overloaded problem in the network and DB server or other tools to support HTML edit, haven't satisfied user's wants by supplying uniformed searching system. So this thesis will establish EEIS(Entrance Examination Information System) to prevent database overload phenomena when many users request a great amount of data at the same time and improve the decrease of speed and overload problem in DB server. EEIS playa role of bridge between outside client and DB server by placing VVS(Virtual View Server) between web server and DB server. By that method this system give users several usefulness in convenience and variety by supplying realtime data searching function to user. EEIS also give inner system manager more efficiency and speed in control the management system by solving those problem. This system is design and implementation to satisfy user's desire and give them more convenience and bring up the confidence of university that adopt this system at the end.
