The transportation of spent nuclear fuel is an important process that involves road and sea transport from an interim storage facility to storage and final disposal sites. As spent nuclear fuel poses a significant risk, carefully evaluating its vibration and shock characteristics under normal transport conditions is essential. In this regard, full-scale multi-modal transport tests (MMTT) have been conducted domestically and internationally. In this paper, we discuss the process of developing a multi-body dynamics (MBD) model to analytically simulate conditions that cannot be considered in tests. The MBD model is based on the KORAD-21 transportation system was validated using the Korean MMTT results from 2020 to 2021. This paper summarizes the details of the development and verification of the MBD model for the KORAD-21 transportation system under normal transport test conditions. This approach can be applicable to various transportation scenarios and systems, and the results of this study will help to ensure that nuclear fuel transportation is conducted safely and effectively.
The development of a mathematical modular framework based on Petri Network theory to model a traffic network is the subject of this paper. Traffic intersections are the primitive elements of a transportation network and are characterized as event driven and asynchronous systems. Petri network have been utilized to model these discrete event systems; further analysis of their structure can reveal information relevant to the concurrency, parallelism, synchronization, and deadlock avoidance issuse. The Petri-net based model of a generic traffic junction is presented. These modular networks are effective in synchronizing their components and can be used for modeling purposes of an asynchronous large scale transportation system. The derived model is suitable for simulations on a multiprocessor computer since its program execution safety is secured. The software pseudocode for simulating a transportation network model on a multiprocessor system is presented.
In this paper, we study the fixed charge transportation problem with uncertain variables. The fixed charge transportation problem has two kinds of costs: direct cost and fixed charge. The direct cost is the cost associated with each source-destination pair, and the fixed charge occurs when the transportation activity takes place in the corresponding source-destination pair. The uncertain fixed charge transportation problem is modeled on the basis of uncertainty theory. According to inverse uncertainty distribution, the model can be transformed into a deterministic form. Finally, in order to solve the uncertain fixed charge transportation problem, a numerical example is given to show the application of the model and algorithm.
The rapid increase in the freight movement in Korea demands the improvement of the freight transportation system both in quantity and in quality. In recent studies integrated freight terminals have been suggested as the most relevant physical facility that solves this problem. This paper is aiming at the efficiency of the freight transportation system in Korea via integrated freight terminals. We develop a mixed integer programming model to determine simultaneously the most efficient freight flow patterns as well as the optimal locations and sizes of the integrated freight terminal facilities. The results of the model implication is also presented.

This study deals with the dynamic transportation-inventory model for a single product from which the optimal procurement quantities and the transportation modes are determined simultaneously over a finite planning horizon. Moreover, it covers the situation where quantity discounts are applied to the transportation cost as well as the purchase cost and disposals of the excess are possible at the end of each period. For a relevant mathematical model formulated, the theorems and properties of an optimal solution are discussed to present the efficient algorithm. A numerical example is solved to illustrate the algorithm developed.

This paper addresses a model for the transportation planning that determines the transportation cycle time and the vehicle size to minimize the cost in a distribution system. The vehicle routing to minimize the transportation distance of the vehicles is also determined. A distribution system is consisted of a distribution center and many retailers. Products are transported from distribution center to retailers according to transportation planning. A model is assumed that the time horizon is continuous and infinite, and the demand of retailers is constant and deterministic. Cost factors are the transportation cost and the inventory cost, which the transportation cost is proportional to the transportation distance of vehicle when products are transported from distribution center to retailers, and the inventory cost is proportional to inventory amounts of retailers. A transportation cycle time and a vehicle size are selected among respective finite alternatives. The problem is analyzed, and a illustrative example is shown.
Within the conventional transportation planning process, "trip distribution" has a significant role to play. The most widely applied trip distribution model is the gravity model, for which Wilson provided the theoretical basis in 1967. The concept of the gravity model, however, still remains ambiguous if we analyze the "trip distribution" with a disaggregate data set. Thus, this paper hypothesizes that the gravity technique is still valid even with the disaggregate data set, by proving that the estimated coefficients of the gravity model, which is derived under the principle of entropy maximization, are identical with those of the multinomial logit model, which is derived under the principle of individual utility maximization.tility maximization.

This study developed a variable demand traffic assignment model by stable dynamics. Stable dynamics, suggested by Nesterov and do Palma[19], is a new model which describes and provides a stable state of congestion in urban transportation networks. In comparison with the user equilibrium model, which is based on the arc travel time function in analyzing transportation networks, stable dynamics requires few parameters and is coincident with intuitions and observations on congestion. It is therefore expected to be a useful analysis tool for transportation planners. In this study, we generalize the stable dynamics into the model with variable demands. We suggest a three stage optimization model. In the first stage, we introduce critical travel times and dummy links and determine variable demands and link flows by applying an optimization problem to an extended network with the dummy links. Then we determine link travel times and path flows in the following stages. We present a numerical example of the application of the model to a given network.
This study deal with the traffic accident. The purpose of this study is to develop the accident density models reflecting the transportation and socioeconomic characteristics based on 230 zones of Korea. In this study, The models which are tested to be statistically significant are developed through multiple linear regression analysis. The main research results are as follows. First, in the transportation-based model, road length, avenue ratio, number of intersections and tunnels are analyzed to be positive to the model, however, school zone is analyzed to be negative to the model. Second, in the socioeconomic-based model, population density, transportation vulnerable ratio, children and truck ratio are analyzed to be positive to the model. Finally, in the integrated models, road ratio, population density, transportation vulnerable ratio, children ratio, truck ratio and number of companies are analyzed to be positive, however, school zone is analyzed to be negative to the model. This results could be expected to give good implications to accident-reduction policy-making.

More and more medium and small enterprises do business across the world according to generalization of online shopping mall such as eBay and Amazon. But high export and import transportation cost make weak the price competitive power of medium and small enterprises products. Then this paper deals with the development of new business model which can reduce the transportation cost for global logistics through efficiently overcoming the constraints as length, size, and weight of product. We explain this model with application for company which export the automobile parts. We can expect the transportation cost reduction by 50%.
