  • A systematic design approach for Power distribution network (PDN) is presented aiming at applications to DRAM module designs. Three main stages are comprised in this design approach: modeling and simulation of a PDN based on a two-dimensional transmission line structure employing a partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC); verification of the simulation results through comparison to measured values; and design space scanning with PDN parameters. Impedance characteristics for do-coupling capacitors are analyzed to devise an effective way to stabilize power and ground plane Performance within a target level of disturbances. Self-impedance and transfer-impedance are studied in terms of distance between circuit features and the size of do-coupling capacitors. A simple equation has been derived to find the do-coupling capacitance values yielding impedance lower than design target, and thereby reducing the overall computation time. The effectiveness of the design methodology has been demonstrated using a DRAM module with discrete do-coupling capacitors and a strip structure.

  • Broadcasting environment of present our country is greeting period of transition that undergo a change to digital broadcasting system in analog broadcasting system continued for last several decades. With change of these broadcasting environment interest about various digital broadcasting contents industry that fill to digital broadcasting infra and unlawfulness reproduction prevention technology far digital broadcasting contents of high added value is rising. According as is converted to digital broadcasting environment interest about reproduction prevention is well-founded to be risen sensitively. First analog broadcasting environment can not remove perfectly error at transmission in receiver, but can reconstruct contents such as original by error correction function in receiver in the case of digital broadcasting environment. Secondarily, although quality of copy is dwindled than original repeat reproduction in case of analog, many copies are available innumerably regardless of number of times of copy keeping quality such as original in the case of digital And third element is possible easily to anyone to on-line along with development of internet in case of digital contents unlike analog. Under these background, this thesis wish to design and implement digital contents protection system to prevent unlawfulness reproduction and distribution of digital contents using Triple DES algorithm.

  • Damper springs in a drive-line absorb the impulsive torque generated when a lock-up clutch is connected directly, instead of via a fluid coupling. Design optimization and finite element analysis were performed to improve the shock- and vibration-absorption capacity of the lock-up clutch. For this purpose, a multi-body dynamics model was developed by including the main parts of a vehicle, such as an engine with a clutch, a transmission, drive shafts and wheels, and a whole mass of a vehicle. The spring constants were selected so that resonance of a system could be avoided. Damper springs were optimized on the basis of the spring constants, impulsive torques, compressed angles, spring counts, fatigue constraints, etc. Topology optimization was performed for three plates with the damper springs. The compliance was set up as an objective function, and volume fraction was fixed below 0.3. A new shape for the plates was proposed on the basis of the topology result.

  • The digital image can be distorted by a noise for a transmission or other elements of system. It happen to be vague of a boundary side in the division of an image object, especially, boundary side of an input image is very important because it can be determined to the division and detection element in pattern recognition. Therefore it is proposed an edge detection method of optimal to divide and detect exactly a boundary part. In this paper, it detected the optimal edge with applying this image to Meyer wavelet-CNN algorithm, after it does level up a boundary side of an image by using the adaptive morphology as the threshold of an input image. It confirmed that the proposed algorithm is more superior to the conventional methods and the conventional Sobel method which is an image edge detection algorithm. Especially, it is confirmed by simulation that the proposed algorithm can be got the better result edge at the place of closing to each edges and having smoothly curved line.

  • A 4${\times}10^{19}cm^{3}$ carbon-doped base AlGaAs/GaAs HBY was grown using carbontetracholoride(CCl$_4$) by atmospheric pressure MOCVD. Abruptness of emitter-base junction was characterized by SIMS(secondary ion mass spectorscopy) and the doping concentration of base layer was confirmed by DXRD(double crystal X-ray diffractometry). Mesa-type HBTs were fabricated using wet etching and lift-off technique. The base sheet resistance of R$_{sheet}$=550${\Omega}$/square was measured using TLM(transmission line model) method. The fabricated transistor achieved a collector-base junction breakdown voltage of BV$_{CBO}$=25V and a critical collector current density of J$_{O}$=40kA/cm$^2$ at V$_{CE}$=2V. The 50$\times$100$\mu$$^2$ emitter transistor showed a common emitter DC current gain of h$_{FE}$=30 at a collector current density of JS1CT=5kA/cm$^2$ and a base current ideality factor of ηS1EBT=1.4. The high frequency characterization of 5$\times$50$\mu$m$^2$ emitter transistor was carried out by on-wafer S-parameter measurement at 0.1~18.1GHz. Current gain cutoff frequency of f$_{T}$=27GHz and maximum oscillation frequency of f$_{max}$=16GHz were obtained from the measured Sparameter and device parameters of small-signal lumped-element equivalent network were extracted using Libra software. The fabricated HBT was proved to be useful to high speed and power spplications.

  • Array Gain (AG) is a metric to measure the performance of an array of acoustic sensors. AG is affected by the configuration of array, frequency and array element spacing, and the directivity of the ambient noise. In this paper, an algorithm to calculate AG based on the spatial coherence is used, and the results are verified through sea-going experiment. The method using the spatial coherence can be used to consider the arbitrary shape of an array and directionality of ambient noise. In the sea-going experiment, the towed source was used to transmit the Continuous Wave (CW), and was received at the horizontal line array on the seabed. The ambient noise was measured between the source transmission. The experimental AG was calculated from the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) of single sensor and an array of sensors. Finally, the predicted AG is shown to agree with the experimental value of AG.

  • Microwave characteristics of ridge type CPW traveling-wave(TW) electroabsorption modulator and photodetector are affected by the thickness of intrinsic layer, width of guiding layer, and the separation of signal and ground electrodes. These factors are determined effective index of microwave and characteristic impedance due to changing of capacitance(C) and inductance(L) of device. However, conventional equivalent circuit of TW-structure is approximated to microstrip and CPW transmission line by distribution of electric and magnetic fields, respectively. In this paper, we analyzed microwave characteristics of TW-structure and found more accurate value of C and L by using finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. These values are adopted circuit element of equivalent circuit. Microwave characteristics obtained by the FDTD and equivalent circuit model show good agreement.

  • A windmill-shaped loop antenna is designed for polarization diversity. Its circumference is almost 10 times that of a conventional small loop antenna whose circumference is less than ${\lambda}/10$ but its the radiation pattern is omni-directional. An identical parasitic element is placed over the radiator to match the antenna input impedance. An equivalent transmission line and RLC circuit models are shown to fully describe for the windmill-shaped loop antenna. The proposed antenna has a bandwidth of 6 % with input VSWR less than 2:1 and a polarization purity of 15 dB at 2.6 GHz, and the gain of 1.5 dBi. The simulated and measured results show fairly good agreement.

  • Screen printing of commercially available Ag paste is the most widely used method for the front side metallization of Si solar cells. However, the metallization using Ag paste is expensive and needs high temperature annealing for reliable contact. Among many metallization schemes, Ni/Cu/Sn plating is one of the most promising methods due to low contact resistance and mass production, resulting in high efficiency and low production cost. Ni layer serves as a barrier which would prevent copper atoms from diffusion into the silicon substrate. However, Ni based schemes by electroless deposition usually have low thermal stability, and require high annealing process due to phosphorus content in the Ni based films. These problems can be resolved by adding W element in Ni-based film. In this study, Ni-W-P alloys were formed by electroless plating and properties of it such as sheet resistance, resistivity, specific contact resistivity, crystallinity, and morphology were investigated before and after annealing process by means of transmission line method (TLM), 4-point probe, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).

  • The maximun short circuit current of modern power system is becoming so large that circuit breaker is not expected to be able to shut down the current in the future In order cut over-currents, a system composed of a superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) and traditional breaker seems to provide a promising solution for furture power operation. In present paper, three line-to-ground fault is assumed to happen at the center of 345kV transmission lines in a large capacity electric power system. The superconducting fault current limiter was represented using a commutation type, which consists of a non-inductive superconducting coil and current limiting element (resistor or reactor). from the viewpoint of current limiting performance, the prevention of the voltage drop at the load bus and comparision characteristics for two type SFCL. Desired design specification and operation parameters of SECL were also given qualitatively by the performance.
